Studies have shown that the general illumination in the passenger compartment is one of the major items to create an atmosphere of passenger comfort. In cooperation with the Institute of Light and Color Dynamic UTC Aerospace Systems has therefore implemented a human factor in the design of its ceiling and side wall illumination by taking special care of the physiological effect of light: Goodlight LED Wash Lights provide a well received and absolutely homogeneous light output. To guarantee this, it is essential to sort the LEDs according to their color. UTC Aerospace Systems in-house LED selection and soldering techniques make sure that only exactly matching LEDs are used for the production of Goodlight LED Wash Lights. Having understood how much the appearance of the materials in the passenger compartment depends on the light provided, UTC Aerospace Systems only uses LEDs with a significantly high Color Rendering Index. They make the interior of the cabin look very natural. High resistance to shock and vibration No risk of breaking glass tubes Wide Range of Light Colors According to their individual intention, customers may choose from a wide range of Goodlight LED Wash Lights from unicolor neutral or warm white to white and yellow to state-of-the-art multicolor wash lights that combine either white, amber and blue (WAWB), white amber and red (WAWR) or red, green and blue (RGB) LEDs. The white light produced by Goodlight LED Wash Lights always features a high Color Rendering Index which supports the natural look of the interior materials. WAWB Wash Lights 2LA XX provide the full color spectrum of the natural daylight circle - from deep blue to cool white to warm white and yellow. RGB Wash Lights 2LA XX feature the widest possible color performance. They allow choosing from a palette of 16 million colors including white. WAWR Wash Lights 2LA XX 2 3

Thanks to an individually configured Data-Bus-Input to the Interior Lighting System Director 8ES (see page 9), this option offers the highest level of integration and the best performance. UTC Aerospace Systems is able to provide such highly sophisticated and customized solutions in cooperation with competent partners like UTC Aerospace Systems Cabin Electronics Systems, Rockwell Collins or Lufthansa Technik. 4 Option 2: Control via discrete signals from Cabin Management System If the customer intends to produce or retrofit a limited number of aircraft, it is profitable to control the Goodlight LED Wash Lights via discrete signals from the Cabin Management System. The Switch Box 8ES (page 10) transforms these signals and supplies the equivalent Data-Bus input for the Interior Lighting System Director 8ES (page 9). Providing both the Switch Box and the Interior Lighting System Director, UTC Aerospace Systems has optimized the communication between these two devices to ensure an excellent efficiency with low development effort. Option 3: Control via discrete signals from Switch Panel Even if the aircraft does not feature a Cabin Management System, there is no need to miss the benefits of Goodlight LED Wash Lights. It is also possible to control them with a conventional manual attendant switch panel providing discrete signal inputs to the Switch Box 8ES (see page 10) which then sends Data-Bus input to the Interior Lighting System Director 8ES (see page 9). Therefore, this option can be the ideal retrofit solution. A sophisticated communication between the Switch Box and the Lighting System Director both offered by UTC Aerospace Systems is guaranteed.

4 WAWB Wash Lights 2LA XX With their specific configuration of white, amber and blue LEDs the WAWB Wash Lights produce a variable light that can be changed from deep blue to a very homogeneous cool white to warm white and yellow. Having a significantly high Color Rendering Index, the neutral white light makes the materials in the cabin appear as natural as possible. This effect is also supported by the special full spectrum amber LEDs. The color mixing system allows various presets for boarding, cruise, cabin movie viewing, candle light dinner, working atmosphere and others as well as the most often chosen mood light setting with a blue ceiling and amber sidewall illumination. WAWB Wash Lights even provide the full color spectrum of the natural daylight circle to create an ambience of sunrise or sunset. 5 WAWR Wash Lights 2LA XX Using a special combination of white, amber and red LEDs, these wash lights produce a variable light which can be changed from a very uniform white with a high Color Rendering Index to a warm white to yellow and full red. Providing a wide bandwidth of homogeneous warm colors, WAWR Wash Lights create an ambience of daylight inside the cabin. They also allow the customer to define presets for various mood enhancing lighting situations to create different atmospheres. The featured range of warm colors especially supports relaxation during the flight. 6 RGB Wash Lights 2LA XX With RGB technology, the choice of colors is endless. By using the same principal found in color television screens, three different LEDs form a triple. Mixing red, green and blue these Goodlight LED Wash Lights provide the widest range of color performance: a palette of 16 million colors including white. Presets allow the customer to define different mood enhancing light colors for pre-selected areas of the passenger cabin. It is even possible to provide a totally different ambience with the touch of only one switch. 7 Power Supplies 8ES and 8ES Each of these Power Supplies drives up to four WAWB, WAWR or RGB Wash Lights with a total power consumption of up to 80 W. 8 Interior Lighting System Directors 8ES and 8ES ES ES The Interior Lighting System Director 8ES receives Data-Bus input from the Cabin Management System and controls the interior lighting system via CAN-Bus as described in Control Option 1 on page 4. Besides the wash lights, this may also include for example dome, accent or mirror lights. Control opportunities comprise switching the lights on or off, dimming and changing the light color. Together with the Power Supply 8ES for 115 V DC or 8ES for 28 V DC (see page 8) this Interior Lighting System Director offers a very smooth color transition. Connector: with screw locks 8ES This director is almost similar to 8ES Having the same technical data, it features a prompt color transition and allows mood light settings. Its software has been adapted to the requirements of the Switch Box 8ES (see page 10), and its connectors therefore provide slide locks. So the combination of both devices provides the ideal solution for the control options 2 and 3 as described on page 4. On request, UTC Aerospace Systems is also able to offer an Interior Lighting System Director providing a smooth color transition when being operated together with the Switch Box 8ES

9 Switch Box 8ES The Switch Box receives discrete signals either from the Cabin Management System or from a switch panel, transforms them into an equivalent Data-Bus input and sends it to the Interior Lighting System Director 8ES (see page 9). 10 Warm White Wash Lights 2LA XX If color mixing options are not required, these wash lights provide an ideal solution: Producing a homogeneous warm white flood light comparable to incandescent lighting for the general cabin illumination, they can be directly operated by the 28 V power system of the aircraft. Featuring an additional dimming line, these LED Wash Lights can be controlled by the Dimming Unit 5XA (see page 12). They provide a uniform white tone at any dim level. 11 Dimming Unit 5XA This Dimming Unit is the ideal device to control the brightness of the Warm White Wash Lights 2LA XX (see page 11). It converts 28 V DC into a pulse width modulated dimming signal. This guarantees that the LEDs are always operated with the nominal current and therefore do not change their white tone in dimmed mode. By turning the control knob, the brightness is set to the desired level. By pushing it, all lights are switched on or off. Operating Voltage: 28 V DC Operating Current: 2.1 A max. 12 Unicolor Wash Lights UTC Aerospace Systems offers different options for common lighting situations that only require a singlecolor light which can be turned on or off by using a switch. The lights presented on pages 13 and 14 do not need any extra devices as they can be operated directly from the 28 V power system of the aircraft. White Yellow Wardrobe Lights 2LA If a bundled light beam is required, these lights provide a good solution. They feature a neutral white light tone and a 60 beam angle and have been optimized for example for the use in wardrobes and closets. They substitute the ballast units and carriers of the fluorescent tubes using the existing space envelope, electrical interface points and operation modes. So this LED Wash Light Retrofit Kit features an easy installation.
