At this point a complete brainstorming is requested, started exploring all the possible options. As an example, I investigated the possible options here in Ferrara with Angelo. He told me that he just developed a front end with VATA chips that, according to him, can be used for our needings. 2 New Version of VA32TA2 chip. VA64TA2 64-channel charge sensitive amplifier. Each channel features buffered preamplifiers, a *slow* shaper with sample/hold, multiplexed analogue readout and calibration facilities. Each channel has a "fast" shaper that gives a trigger signal. Single event upset (SEU) protection. VA64TAHDR16 (Like MATE3) 64-channel charge sensitive amplifier for SiPM read-out. Each channel features preamplifiers, *slow* shapers, sample/hold, multiplexed analogue readout and calibration facilities. Each channel has a "fast" shaper that gives a trigger signal and a timing unit to record the time difference between triggers in different channels. Contact sales for more information. 4 New developing in Ferrara -> Goal? Front-End chips this is only small part of system! So, If we will change ideology of input chip We must change all existing electronics and software, that are ready and are under preparation now for PAX (Vertex, Trigger Module). -> I think - this is very expansive and unclear action.. From IDEAS letter, you can see, that we have not serious problems to bay chips according our specification. Two possibility -> 1. IDEAS was ready (2 years ago) to produce for us VA32TA2_2 with a new technology. 2. We can test one of 64-channels variants of chips 4

9 Conclusion 1. VATA chips must be used in our Front-end Card. Deutsche companies, that are producing Front-end Card have experience in electronics for high vacuum, and more - this electronic are supply all vacuum condition of COZY and precision for us. All other Front-end electronics will only time delay for us. Possibility to break (not equal 0) Hermes detectors, when dismounting- mounting procedure and timing limitation for this, clear shown, that we can do this only one time and only with final version of holder of detector. 9
