4 1. General description 1.1. Scope of supply 1 pcs. Downlight, 2700K including non detachable cable (2000mm) 1 pcs. It is imperative to read this handbook before initial use of the unit! 1.2. Packaging The downlight is supplied in a specially made box. To remove the downlight, press down both of the fitting springs lightly and turn to the right until the stop is reached. The downlight may now be removed. The downlights are normally supplied in secondary packaging containing 20 units Type identification On both the downlight and on the secondary packaging, an identification plate and the serial number are indicated. Temperature reading point The life expectancy of the LEDs is highly dependent upon the ambient temperature. Do not expose the downlight to direct sunlight and do not install it above a heat source. Only install in a well ventilated area. The temperature reading point (tc) must not exceed 70 C. TC 1.9. Connector terminal assignment The wires are equipped with end sleeves. That means that only terminals that have been approved for end sleeves may be used for connection. 3

Installationinstructions / General information Installation must always be carried out by sufficiently qualified and trained personnel and according to the generally recognized codes of practice. Please do not fail to observe the applicable safety regulations. Only use devices in kitchens that indicate at a protection rating of at least IP64 Before opening the housing, please ensure that the power plug is not connected. Contact with live electrical parts can result in electrical shock. This can be deadly. The light is intended for fixed installation in a building. For this reason, separators with the following characteristics must be provided for. Operation may not take place if ambient conditions are subject to high levels of humidity or dust, risk of explosion or aggressive chemical influence. The position of operation is variable at the user s discretion. However, sufficient air circulation (convection cooling) must be ensured. 4

8 2.2. Protection against electrostatic discharge (ESD) Electronic products are sensitive to electrostatic discharge. Therefore, special regard must be made to maintaining an ESD protected environment. In a controlled manner, ESD protected workplaces dissipate electrostatic charges with a high level of ground contact resistance. This is achieved by means of antistatic bands and work surfaces, floor coverings, shoes, and clothing with conductive properties. The entire workplace environment must comply with applicable ESD standards. Failure to comply can lead to damage or destruction to the products. Frequently, damages due to ESD are only evident after a certain period of time. For this reason, it is frequent that products seem to function properly at first and then suddenly fail without any recognisable reason. Damages due to ESD shall be inherently excluded from the warranty Human exposure to electromagnetic fields Due to technical factors, all devices in which current flows produce electromagnetic fields. For a long time, the damages that these emissions caused to human health was considered controversial. In the meantime, it has been proven that electromagnetic fields above a certain threshold are hazardous to health. For this purpose, limits have meanwhile been set at a European wide level. Among other things, also for any type of illuminant and lighting. These norms to do not include EMC. They are safety standards and are therefore listed as part of the Directive on Low Voltage. 9 2.4. Photobiological safety eye/skin protection Depending on the intensity of emissions and the wavelength, optical radiation can be damaging to the eye and to the skin, resulting in irreversible burns. As is known, LEDs that are normally used for general lighting purposes do not emit light within the UV or the infrared range. It is for this reason that this wave length range, which poses a serious heath threat, can be completely ruled out for any of our products. However, LEDs have a very high energy density. This means that all radiant power is emitted by a very small chip. This type of high level of radiance can especially cause permanent damage to the eye. Possible damage or injury is dependent upon the viewing distance. The following applies: the closer you are to the source of radiation, the more dangerous it is. For this reason, legislation has imposed mandatory the classification of all products emitting optical radiation as risk class 4 (with the exception of LASER they have their own classifications) The risk is reduced proportional to increasing distance from the source. It is therefore sensible to define the risk evaluation using the viewing distance as a point of reference. In addition to setting limits with regard to wavelengths and categorisation into risk classes, legislative authorities have also imposed requirements on the marking of products corresponding to the risk classes and information that the user information must contain. If adhesive strips are applied, the period of storage should not exceed 12 months. Only store the products in an ESD secure environment. For ambient conditions concerning storage, please refer to the technical data of the respective product. 3. Warranty and repairs The devices are subject to strict quality control. Before leaving the production area, every device undergoes a burn in test that lasts several hours. The legal warranty provisions of the country of purchase shall apply.
