1 Number: 240 Issue: 001 Date: 19 TH March 2008 Originator: Duncan Thomas Business Unit: Global Purchasing Tel: Fax: For the attention of the Managing Director & Quality Manager Dear Sir or Madam, Scope: Suppliers in receipt of purchase orders issued by Rolls-Royce U.K. Aerospace. Part number changes for all Civil Large Engines delivery schedules to RollsRoyce Derby - plant numbers 1201, 1202 and Phased Implementation throughout 2008, where we propose to have 3 phases. Part numbers and suppliers affected in phase 1 and 2 are shown in detail within Appendix 1. Introduction: As part of a new system implementation Rolls-Royce Plc will be substituting all the current Rolls- Royce Accommodation part numbers (predominatly L part numbers) with their respective vendor part numbers for these materials. This is just an ordering part number change, there is no change to fit, form and function. Accommodation part numbers are used for ordering only and are not marked on the physical part itself. Consequently, there is no impact anticipated associated with drawing changes or first article inspection since changes are limited to ordering systems and delivery packaging. The exercise of changing all the accommodation part numbers will continue throughout 2008, and will be implemented using a phased approach. This activity has already started with 100 materials already changed in Phase 1, with new purchase documents for some of the new part numbers already being issued. For details of what part numbers are being changed please read this document further. Impact: What that means to you as a supplier is that already 268 part numbers have been changed or are changing in Phase 1 and Phase 2 of the implementation and that on completion of this exercise Rolls-Royce plc will no longer be ordering these parts using the accommodation part numbers. Please see Appendix 1 for the full list of accommodation part numbers that will be changing in Phase 1 and Phase 2 and also Appendix 1 for the full list of suppliers impacted by these changes. As this is a phased approach you may see delivery schedules for the new vendor part numbers and the existing accommodation part numbers as they are phased out.

2 As this is a phased approach you may see delivery schedules for the new vendor part numbers and the existing accommodation part numbers as they are phased out. You should not however see duplicate quantities for deliveries of the separate parts. Please continue shipment to the delivery address on the purchasing document as instructed. You will not need to issue another FAIR (First Article Inspection) or require another drawing for these materials; however if you have only put the R-R accommodation part number on your drawings then you will need to update these drawings with the new part number. Some materials are sensitive in the nature and cannot be communicated via this NTS. The only material in Phase 1 and Phase 2 that is affected and is sourced is for supplier Ultra Electronics Controls Div, please refer to your normal R-R contact for details of this part. Action Required: DO Contact your MRP Controller or normal Rolls-Royce Plc contact to confirm any delivery changes, delivery queries or discrepancies on you delivery schedule. Contact your MRP Controller or normal Rolls-Royce Plc contact to confirm materials affected by Phase 3 of this implementation. Quote the Purchase Document Number and Part Number on all paper work of the material being supplied against that Purchase Document. Notify your Rolls-Royce plc contact of any impacts on the delivery schedule this exercise may have. Acknowledge the receipt of your new schedule agreement via Exostar (if you are not on Exostar please send an acknowledgement directly to your Operational Buyer). Notify your Rolls-Royce plc contact if you have not received your new schedule agreement. If you have any questions regarding this exercise please contact your Operational Buyer or normal Rolls- Royce Plc contact. DO NOT Deliver part numbers that conflict with the delivery schedule as communicated by Rolls-Royce plc Deliver any materials to a different address to the one stated on your schedule agreement Deliver different part numbers to those stated on the purchase order or against a different part number on another purchase order. The reason for this is that the part on the purchase document must match the part number being delivered or we are unable to goods receipt or pay for these materials.
