ArmourGuard offers up to 20 times the corrosion resistance of galvanised tube thanks to its revolutionary zinc, aluminium and magnesium coating. *Please note, our lifetime guarantee applies to pre-galvanised tubular steel components only (arches, stabilisers, bracings & ridge tubes). Even though all of our brackets and fittings are also fully galvanised, they are not protected with our ArmourGuard coating and as such do not carry the same guarantee. Our polythene covers, and anti-hot spot tape have up to 7 years guarantee against UV degradation. 6 What s so great about the Easy-Build? The Easy-Build polytunnel from Northern Polytunnels is by far the quickest and easiest polytunnel to build. Simplicity and ease has been the driving force behind the Easy-Build design. In a nutshell, we wanted to design the strongest polytunnel, at the best possible price, which could be built in a fraction of the time and without any specialist tools. Foundation Tubes...Screw Anchors - No Digging, No Mess and Very Quick Screw anchor foundation tubes are by far the best and most popular method and remove the need to dig any holes. Suitable with most soil types, especially clay soils. Avoid only on ground with a high stone/rubble content, peat soils, or loose ground which has been recently disturbed or deeply cultivated. Only takes 1-2 minutes to secure each one in to position, a fraction of the time it would take to install ground anchor plates. And without the mess or exertion. Screw anchors also incorporate our unique, polytunnel cover tensioning system, where the hoops are raised (and locked in place) after the cover is attached to achieve a drum-skin tight finish. The tighter the cover the longer it will last! Note: Screw anchors are supplied as standard however, other foundation options are available - see page 8. Two Piece Hoops...Stronger Than 3 or 4 Section Hoops Hoops that are made from three or four sections are easier to make and more convenient to deliver, however, they are not as strong as a two piece hoop and often require extra bracing bars to support them. That is why we only make two-piece hoops, and one of the reasons why we sell so many polytunnels to customers in the Scottish Highlands and Islands. All our steel tube is protected with our ArmourGuard coating giving it a LIFETIME GUARANTEE (see page 3). Our tubes are 32mm diameter with a 1.5mm wall thickness. 7 Doors...Easy to Assemble and Problem Free Our Easy-Build polytunnel comes with the option of either aluminium sliding doors or our PVC ventilation panel. Aluminium Sliding Doors: Made from easy-to-assemble aluminium sections incorporating our unique W-Wire polythene fixing system. Supplied with enough materials to fully clad it with polythene, or to clad the top half with netting for extra ventilation. We are the only manufacturer who offer long-life aluminium doors. PVC Ventilation Panels: Fabricated from translucent PVC fabric with a PVC mesh insert. Comes with a removable translucent PVC fabric panel which simply attaches over the mesh (to seal the vent) with a Velcro edging. Can be fully opened, fully closed or partially opened. Quick and easy to fit. Aluminium Base Rails...No need to trench-in the cover Aluminium Door Frames...Pre cut - no carpentry required EASY BUILD POLYTUNNEL Due to the natural variances which occur in timber, and it s much shorter lifespan, we now only use aluminium for our base rails, doors and door frames. Aluminium is free from defects (such as knots, splits etc.) and will last a lifetime, unlike treated timber which has a lifespan of around 15 years. We are the only manufacturer who supply aluminium door frames and base rails as standard. All the fixtures and fittings are simple to attach and allow a little room for adjustment, if required. Every piece of aluminium is cut precisely to length, removing the need to trim off any excess. Wiggle Wire Polythene Fixing System...Quick, Simple & Secure Our aluminium base rails, doors and door frames all incorporate our unique W-Wire polythene securing system. Simply weave the W-Wire in to the open channel of the aluminium rails & frames, securely trapping the polythene in place. Don t worry if you need to redo a section, it s easily unclipped and can be wiggled back in to place in a jiffy, ensuring a tight, neat finish every time! This is especially useful when pleating the polythene around the door frames. For those of you who have previously used timber rails you ll already know how difficult it is to fasten polythene using wooden laths/battens - trying to pull the polythene tight whilst holding a lath in place, positioning the nails, and finally hammering them home, and all with only one pair of hands. W-Wire is the easiest and quickest system on the market and doesn t require any specialist tools. Takes half the time of any other method. 6

8 The Easy-Build Kit Our basic Easy-Build polytunnel kit includes all the unique features outlined on pages 5 & 6, but also incorporates our most popular options: Single sliding door at the front, PVC ventilation panel at the rear, screw anchor foundation tubes and a Super Lux 50:50 polythene cover. Further options can be added at extra cost such as crop bars, extra ridge tubes and roll-up side ventilation. The following pages show these options in detail. Alternatively, you can change some of the options and design your own polytunnel with all the features you require. These are priced on pages or you can configure your polytunnel on our website. 9 Foundations Options Screw Anchors By far the best and most popular method. Suitable with most soil types, especially clay soils. Avoid only on ground with a high stone/rubble content, peat soils, or loose ground which has been recently disturbed or deeply cultivated. Each screw anchor only takes 1-2 minutes to screw in to the ground. Compare this to the time it takes to dig each hole when using either the concreting method or ground anchor plates, and without any of the mess or exertion. In recent tests, we measured the strengths of different polytunnel foundation options. The tests showed that our screw anchors out- performed all other methods in most types of soil. A close second place was traditional foundation tubes when concreted in position. In third place, trailing a long way behind, was the use of ground anchor plates (sometimes called ground anchors). They simply didn t come anywhere close to the other two methods. To give you some idea of the difference, we compared our screw anchors to one of our competitor s heavy-duty ground plate kits, and found that it took four times more force to pull our screw anchors out of the ground. A real consideration in windy conditions. Base Plates (for concrete base) Base plates are only used when fixing your polytunnel onto a solid concrete base or railway sleepers. Supplied with fixing bolts for securing in place. Traditional foundation tubes - Concreting method: The recognised method when using traditional foundation tubes is to dig a hole (35cm square x 50cm deep) and set the foundation tubes in concrete. Considered to be one of the most secure methods. Generally only used where screw anchors aren t suitable. Traditional foundation tubes - Driven in to the ground: Foundation tubes are simply knocked in the ground, leaving 35-45cm protruding. This method is NOT recommended, and only used where the polytunnel cover is trenched in to the ground. All of our polytunnels come with a base rail making this method obsolete. Ground Anchor Plates (Ground Anchors) Generally only used where screw anchors and traditional concreted foundation tubes are not the preferred choice. Our tests show this method is far less secure than both of these other options. The foundation tubes have a metal plate fastened at the base which sits in the ground. For these you will need to dig a hole (35cm square x 50cm deep) for each tube. You then backfill the holes with earth. These are suitable when screw anchors can t be used (e.g stoney ground) and where concreting isn t an option. 10 Door Frame and Door Options Single Aluminium Sliding Door Our Easy-Build polytunnel comes with aluminium doors and door frames as standard. Each piece of aluminium is cut to size, eliminating the need to cut down or trim any excess material. Each component easily fastens together using steel brackets, removing the chances of making mistakes whilst also removing the requirement for carpentry skills (which would be required to assemble timber doors). 11 Polythene Options Super Lux 50:50 For Easy-Build prices see pages For replacement covers see pages Gives half the level of light diffusion as a fully diffused polythene film, making it an all-round polytunnel cover, especially for those who require a balance between light-diffusing and clear polythene. Considered by many as the ideal polytunnel cover for UK wide use. This extra light brings extra heat which can be a benefit during the early and late months of the growing season. Especially popular in northern and western regions where lower light levels naturally occur. Lumisol Clear is a UV open polythene film, allowing UV light to reach your plants. This can have many benefits for both edible and ornamental crops, such as enhancing the fragrance, taste, colour, earlier harvesting and longer post-harvest shelf life. In addition, UV open films promote plant anti-oxidants which are good for plant health and encourage stronger plants. Lumisol Diffused Light-diffusing polythene films scatter the daylight as it passes through the polythene. This enables the light to penetrate deeper in to the plants canopy, as it hits the plant from all angles not just from the direction of the sun. This reduces the upper foliage from shading the lower parts of the plant. The overall light reaching your crop is reduced by around 2%. This reduction in light creates a slightly cooler environment, up to 4 C lower at midday in mid-summer, which can be a considerable benefit to many crops especially in the sunnier parts of the UK. 12 Side Ventilation, Brace Bars & Additional Ridge Bars For prices see pages NNEW LOW COST DESIGN EW LOW COST DESIGN NEW Side Ventilation NEW Low-Cost Design Although doors allow adequate ventilation on shorter polytunnels throughout most of the growing season, additional ventilation is often required. This simple to operate, low-cost ventilation system offers a practical solution during the summer months, especially for longer polytunnels where stale, humid air can build up in the centre of your polytunnel. Simply wind up the polythene side screen/s when required, and wind down when you want to retain the heat. Can be fitted to one or both sides of your polytunnel. Kit includes aluminium side rail, external polythene wind-up screen, and netting (to cover the ventilation holes). The holes are cut in to the main cover once the side rail has been attached. This kit can be fitted to existing polytunnels. Brace Bars (Widthways Crop Bars) Although often used to hold hanging baskets or to support lateral poles on which to tie up your tomatoes, peas etc, they are more often added to a polytunnel to give it extra strength. Even though we boast that our polytunnels are strongest available, they give peace of mind during severe, windy storms and also when heavy snow is expected. They increase the structural strength by at least 20%. Can be retrospectively fitted to existing polytunnels. Additional Ridge Bars (Lengthways Crop Bars) Your basic polytunnel should always have a central ridge bar, but additional ridge bars can be added to either one or both sides of a polytunnel. They will of course increase the strength a little, but the main use for these is to provide crop support along the length of the polytunnel. They can be positioned and re-positioned to the most convenient place for the crop you are growing. 11

Planting your own fruit and vegetables and watching them blossom into delicious strawberries, raspberries or other such delights is extremely rewarding. All too often the fruit you ve been tending to and nurturing is ravaged by garden pests and animals be fore you get the chance to enjoy it, however, by intro duc ing fruit cages to your garden or allotment you could see the amount of fruit and vegetables making it to your kitchen greatly increase. Cage Sizes Each module measures 2.5m x 2.5m (8 2 x 8 2 ). So any size of fruit cage can be supplied in 2.5m increments, both in length and width.
