4 Kit Contents: Items that are included in your 10 x 10 Hoop House kit: a. 3 x 10 high hoops (for 10 w x 10 h) made of galvanized steel will not rust b. 10 x Brace bands - (brace band size isn t readily available at your local hardware store, so we include that; however there are a list of items that you can pick up at your local Home Depot. c. 2 x brace bands for the top purlin. d. 1 x CD - Picture illustrated How to instructions showing step by step in building your own greenhouse Please feel free to contact us any time using the Contact us page found on our site. 5 Materials needed from your Local Hardware store: a. Screen door (suggested, but another may be made or used). b. Poly Film (6 mil or higher is suggested) c. 2x4 s or 2x6 s - wood for base (amount depends on the size you are building) d. 1 5/8 Galvanize pipe - 6 x 30 Long Steaks used to support the Hoops in the ground. e. Wire for Greenhouse bracing f. 1 x 10 length of top rail chain link fence tube used for the top purlin (or use your imagination to make supports.). g. Wood Ground pegs (Cut out of 1 x1 wood) h. 6 Potted Forest Hoop House / Greenhouse Kit: There are many, many ways to build a Hoop House Greenhouse. The one that we will show you here is our recommendation. However there are simpler, or more intricate ways that this can be done. We have found that this style fits the basic needs of most hobbyists. But please visit our website: for other ideas. 7 1) Choosing the right location for your greenhouse: The greenhouse should be located in a spot that receives the most light throughout the day. It is best to have the side of the greenhouse (the longest side) facing south, so it receives the most amount of light. If you have the ends of the greenhouse facing south the doors may block some of the light, and there is not as much area for the Sun s rays to penetrate. If planning to have water and electrical hook up, it is best to have these utilities readily accessible for easy hook-up. These can be run to your greenhouse; however it is easier when it is built close to the house or other available utilities. 8 2) Foundation Preparation: Make sure that the ground is level or try levelling the best that it can (does not have to be perfect for a Hoop House install). The greenhouse can also be levelled from the inside by adding rock, or wood chips (will be held in by 2x6 base boards the wood used is preferably water treated). Site has been levelled and prepared. 11 3) Tools Needed to set up the Greenhouse stakes and base band: a. Drill b. Level c. Sledge hammer d. Measuring tape e. Saw f. Base boards - Use either 2x4 s or 6 s as base boards. These can be attached at the corners to form your greenhouse base note: inside measurements of the frame are used. Below is a picture of a base band. 12 4) Bottom Base Band/Frame Install Made using 2x4 s or 2x6 s, pressure treated. Here is the picture of the Greenhouse Base Band. 2x6 weather treated lumber is used to make this 16x10 foot greenhouse bottom band. To make the 2x6 long enough a metal plate (found in your hardware store)is used as shown in the pic. Connect all four corners of the wood base band (Refer to the graph illustration below). 18 6) Kit: Hoop Install The 10 wide hoop come in two sections. Each of the hoop tube sections have a green painted end. The two un-painted sections will fit together to complete the hoop. They can then be secured together using a metal screw. Note: make sure that the two sections are attached while lying on level ground, so they are not warped when they are in place. Now that the 2 hoop pieces are connected, they can be.see full version for details. These hoops come in two sections that can be layed out joined in the middle and fastened with a metal screw.
