1. STANDARD FITTING: Swivel brackets Screws Tools required: Masonary Plugs Screwdriver Drill Safety Devices Safety Cleats (for cord operation) Safety Clip (for chain operation) Tape Pencil Note: For optional/specialist fixing items please refer to section 8 2. POSITIONING:! IMPORTANT: This product must not be installed LESS than 1500mm (59 ) from the floor. Before deciding where the blind is to be fitted, check that there are no obstructions which may prevent it from operating freely e.g. window handles, catches, alarm boxes etc. Once you have decided on the best position, select the appropriate fixing method for the bracket i.e. FACE or TOP FIX? FACE FIX: Brackets fitted directly onto the window frame or curtain rail TOP FIX: Brackets fitted to top of recess. Allows product to be moved forward to clear obstructions, e.g. window handles. Brackets should be positioned approx 70mm (3 ) in from the ends of the blind. Any additional brackets should be spaced evenly between these but at no more than 1200mm (47¼ ) apart. For larger (heavy) blinds with a surface area greater than 4m 2 (43Ft 2 ) we recommend fitting 2 brackets close to the cord-lock mechanism i.e. where the cords enter the headrail.! When deciding where to place the additional brackets, care should be taken not to place them where they will interfere with moving parts in the headrail. At this point therefore it is advisable to look at the positions of the parts within the headrail. Mark the fixing positions ensuring that the brackets will be in alignment and that the fixing surface is flat and secure enough to take the brackets/blind.

3. FITTING THE BRACKETS Solid Plaster Walls: Drill 5.5mm holes and insert the wall plugs provided before screwing the brackets into these. 5.5 mm Wood Fixing: Drill 2mm pilot holes and use the screws provided screwing directly into the wood. 2 mm All other surfaces: (Hollow plaster board, UPVC, Metal etc) special fixings are required for these surfaces (not supplied). You will need to purchase these separately from a DIY store.! Check brackets to ensure they have been fitted securely 4. INSTALLING THE BLIND Ensure that the swivel arm in the brackets are in the open position (see fig A). Insert the headrail into the brackets at an angle (see fig B). Push the swivel arm closed to lock the blind in place (see fig C). (A) Swivel open (B) Insert blind into the brackets at an angle (C) Swivel closed Note: If the arm does not close, the headrail may not have been inserted properly or the bracket may have been placed directly above a component in the headrail. To resolve, re-insert the headrail or re-position the bracket.

5. FITTING THE CHILD SAFETY DEVICES 5a) Cord Safety Cleats These ensure that all loose cords can be safely kept out of reach of young children. 1. Positioning: Install the cleats within reach and as close to the headrail as possible ensuring they are at LEAST 1500mm above the floor. 2. Spacing: Use the chart below to determine how far apart to position the cleats. This will ensure all loose cords can be wrapped safely around the cleat when blind is fully raised. Metal Venetian Blinds Cleat Spacing Slat size Drop of blind 16/25 35/ mm 50mm 100mm 1001mm mm 75mm 150mm mm 75mm 200mm mm 100mm 250mm For standard control lengths, use the chart to determine the spacing required. For blinds where control lengths have been ordered longer than the drop of the blind, position cleats at a distance that will accommodate all loose cords securely. 3. Fitting Solid Plaster Walls: Drill 5.5mm holes and insert the wall plugs provided before screwing into these. Wood Fixing: Drill 2mm pilot holes and use the screws provided screwing directly into the wood. All other surfaces: (Hollow plaster board, UPVC, Metal etc) special fixings are required for these surfaces (not supplied). You will need to purchase these separately from a DIY store.! Important! Ensure cleats are fitted to a sound and secure surface. 5.5 mm 2 mm 4. Use Always wrap all loose cords around the cleat in a figure of 8 pattern. Inspect the cleats at regular intervals to ensure they are still firmly fixed. b) Safety Clip (chain operation only) This device is used to prevent the control chain from forming a hazardous loop. 1. Positioning: The safety clip shall be installed at the maximum distance possible from the control mechanism to prevent the looped cord/chain from becoming slack.

Place the cord/chain loop inside the safety clip. Take up any slack and check to ensure that the cord/chain is under tension. Do not apply excessive tension as this may affect the operation of the product. Mark the fixing hole at this position. 2. Fitting: Solid Plaster Walls: Drill a 5.5mm hole and insert the wall plug provided before screwing into this. Wood Fixing: Drill a 2mm pilot hole and use the screw provided, screwing directly into the wood. m All other surfaces: (Hollow plaster board, UPVC, Metal etc) special fixings are required for these surfaces (not supplied). You will need to purchase these separately from a DIY store. Check that the cord/chain is under continuous tension Important! Ensure the safety clip has been fitted to a sound and secure surface. 3. Care & maintenance Check the condition of the device frequently to ensure it has not come loose and that the cord/chain is still under tension. Re-fix the clip if tension has been lost to prevent access by children to a hazardous loop. 6. ADDITIONAL SAFETY FEATURE In addition to one of the above devices, cord operated blinds are pre-fitted with a breakaway safety connector. This is designed to safely break connected cords apart when a sideways force is applied to the lift cords (see diagram). Connector type A (16/25mm blinds Clip both sections together ensuring cords do not become trapped There are 2 types of connector available. The type fitted will depend on the specification of blind purchased.

Type A: For 16mm & 25mm blinds If the connector should accidentally come apart, the cords can be reconnected as follows: a) Untangle any twisting/knotting starting from the head rail working downwards. b) If your blind has 2 cords, simply clip both sides of the connector together. c) If your blind has more than 2 cords, insert the additional cords as shown below into the open sections of the connector (no particular order). Clip both sections together taking care not to trap any cords whilst doing so. d) Important! Insert only 1 cord into each open section. 2 Cords 4 Cords Type B: For 35mm & 50mm blinds If the connector should accidentally come apart, the cords can be reconnected as follows: e) Untangle any twisting/knotting starting from the head rail working downwards. f) Press the first 2 cords into the centre mid slots as shown below (1 & 2). g) If your blind has more than 2 cords, place these in the upper (off centre) slots as shown (3 & 4 and in no particular order) h) Important! Insert only 1 cord into each slot. i) Press cords firmly into place j) Clip both sections together as shown, taking care not to trap any cords whilst doing so ! Important: NEVER tie the cords together to form a knot as this will present a risk of strangulation to a young child If you are in doubt about the effectiveness of the re-attached connector, test it by placing your hand between any of the cords and apply downward pressure. The connector should

7. OPERATING THE BLIND a) Standard cord/wand operation: To lower the blind, pull the cord across the face of the blind. Gently tug the cord to release the cord-lock, then allow the cords to slip through your fingers at this angle (see diagram). To raise the blind, pull the cords downward until the desired height is reached. Lock the blind off in this position by holding the cord towards the edge of the blind. Lowering the blind Raising the blind Wand tilt The slats may be tilted to the required angle by either wand or cords depending on specification of blind ordered. Cord tilt Pull on the single tilt cord whilst at the same time applying slight downward pressure to the other tilt cord. Always tilt the slats to the horizontal (open) position before raising or lowering the blind, twisting the wand in either direction. 7b) Endless chain operation Endless chain operation combines the tilting function with the raising/lowering function. Pull the endless chain to tilt the slats in the chosen direction. Continue to pull after the slats have fully tilted and the blind will begin to raise or lower depending on which direction the chain is being pulled. Pull the chain in the opposite direction to reverse the movement. 7c) Crank Rod Operation Crank rod operation combines the tilting function with the raising/lowering function. Turn the crank rod to tilt the slats in the chosen direction. Continue to turn after the slats have fully tilted and the blind will begin to raise or lower depending on which direction the rod is being turned. Turn the rod in the opposite direction to reverse the movement. 7b 7c 7d 7d) Bottom rail operation First mount the side guide wire cable to tension the blind. Adjust the angle of the slats by turning the wand in either direction.

8. OPTIONAL FITTINGS - 16/25MM BLINDS 8a) Optional Extension brackets The swivel brackets can be attached to the special extension brackets. These brackets can be used to increase the clearance between the blind and the window frame. For fixing to a ceiling, a top fix only bracket is available on request. 8a 8b) Optional Tilt and Turn (TAT) brackets For Tilt and Turn windows, brackets with a clamp mechanism may be used. 8b 8c) Side guiding If you specified your blind with side guiding, a space of 10mm (1/2 ) will be required from the end of the headrail. The side guiding brackets can be face or sill fixed. 8c 8d) Side guiding for Tilt and Turn windows To attach the side guiding cable, fix the clamp bracket to the window. Feed the cable through the holes of the clamp bracket and attach to the special slide. Tighten the cable and press. 8d 8e) and 8f) Hold down brackets When fitting hold down brackets, the end cap pins locate into the brackets to hold the blind in position. To raise the blind, the bottom rail must be released by pulling the hold down brackets to the sides. 8e 8f

OPTIONAL FITTINGS - 35/50MM BLINDS 8g)Extension Brackets 8h) Recess Pocket Brackets These can be used where the blind is mounted in a pocket in the ceiling. The bracket is top or face fitted. Push the blind up into the bracket, and then close the swivel section at the bottom of the bracket to secure. 8i) Side, top and face fix box brackets (Supplied as standard for 50mm electric operated blinds) Place blind into the front of the bracket and close down the gate making sure the tab on the bottom of the bracket locates into the slot. 8j) Side guiding 8k) Hold Down Brackets Face/Sill Fix Side Fix 9. CARE AND MAINTENANCE Luxaflex blinds are easy to clean. Under normal circumstances regular dusting with a duster will be sufficient. If required, a damp cloth or a vacuum cleaner on low suction can be used. For more extensive cleaning, water and a mild household detergent can be used. The above recommendations have been drawn up with care. We are, nevertheless, unable to accept the responsibility for the results of cleaning.
