Check all that apply and provide as much detail as you like. (The commercial core and related amenities (restaurants, retail, doctors offices, etc.) ) Especially older buildings...once they're gone they're never coming back. Old Bolton Town Hall (in danger of demo, I fear...) Pedestrian trails along the Humber River throughout Bolton 6. restaurants and boutique or specialty type shops like to see lots of flowers in planters etc anything heritage yes yes
10. Route map of all trails should be available in all local Banks, Stores, etc 11. Bolton Old Town Hall needs urgent attention, and brought back to life. Mill, Elm and Chapel Streets should be included. Would present opportunity to pedestrianize area for special events. 12. People that live here really no nothing about our rich history, educate them through booklets, books sold at the fall fair, we have so many pictures that can be used to educate our residence Doctor's Office Clinic yes, very interested in Preservation Bolton Downtown core lacks these specifics not familiar with them need better roadways and parking downtown core lacks grocery stores and rental residential apt Downtown Bolton, Queen St Bordering Streets Old City Hall 27. Would like bycycle trail along Humber River that stops with pictoral facts and rest stops 28. Food and grocers Traffic calming is required, currently it's hard to enjoy downtown with cars and trucks constantly racing past 29. its comactness and walkability Tree species diversity, a healthy river, the Albion Hills right in town the old streets up the South hill from King Street contain many fascinating early houses
old streetscapes and vistas reflection of who we were It's walkable; the new early map of bolton soon to be displyed in PAMA in Brampton gives new ideas about what's to be found under what is therel 32. old town hall as a museum Summer flowers +their casre really enhance the beauty of the downtown core. Thanks to those who plant+care for their survival. Would love to see Bolton Town Hall Restored. 36. Too many plastic fronts on downtown buildings, specifically on Queen St 1st on my list Historic buildings are only meaningful if their stories are told Town Hall is a mess former sites are blank spaces Very important and so different from subdivisions where there is no sense of history The area is walkable with traffic lights and sidewalks. There should be self guided walking tours available 37. downtown area - stores, shops, offices etc Humber R. as it flows through downtown area Dicki Dam thanks to Heritage Park of NW corner Previous newspaper office, United Church, Masonic Lodge, etc Bol. Town Hall (Fix Up Needed), Laurel Hill Cemetery Also Buildings (historic) on Queen St 2. What features do you value most about the Village of Bolton HCD Study Area? There should be self guided walking tours available 3. How important is it to you to protect these features? Very important 79% 34 Somewhat important 21% 9 Not very important 0% 0 Not important at all 0% 0 Total Responses How often do you use the parks and trails associated with the Humber River Valley? Daily 26% times a week 26% 11 Once a week 16% 7 Once a month 12% 5 Rarely 21% 9 Total Responses Have you heard of the Canadian Heritage Rivers system? Yes 51% 22 No 49% 21 Total Responses 43
5B. Are you aware that the Humber River has been designated as a heritage river? Yes 82% 18 No 18% 4 Total Responses 22
6. What kinds of improvements would you like to see in the HCD Study Area? Check all that apply and provide as much detail/additional comments you like. Retention of significant heritage buildings 83% 35 Improvements to heritage properties 90% 38 Greater use of the Humber River as a public asset 67% 28 New development which complements the heritage scale and character of the area 76% 32 Streetscape improvements (signage, landscaping, benches, outdoor patios, etc.) 90% 38 Promotion of the Village of Bolton as a visitor destination 69% 29 Other/additional comments 36% 15 Total Responses What kinds of improvements would you like to see in the HCD Study Area? Check all that apply and provide as much detail/additional comments you like. (Other/additional comments ) 1. More parades 2. Emphasis on the Humber River as a major attraction to the downtown. 3. Encourage local business to accept standardization of signage, painting and accept benefits of Bolton being a destination spot. 4. We moved here 19 years ago with the hopes that this little town had the potential to be a Kleinburg, YOU DON'T see transport trucks driving through that little town. Needs to stop, to entice commerce to the village, get residences to start enjoying there walks on King, On #50 etc. 5. The roads, lighting, parking lots etc. in the historical area is a mess. If you want people to come here, it needs to be improved. 6. Diversion of through traffic 7. Please restore the old town hall
8. Get traffic out of downtown core - N/S truck traffic ruin enjoyment of town. The "Bar" is a poor substitute for a bypass - just see all other towns listed on page 1 9. parking on Main St (not convenient and hurts business owners) less use of mobile signs 10. Develop and promote an extensive multi-user trail network around Bolton and linking to other areas 11. make sure thye study dovertails with the Exapnsion Study, and the SPA study (floodplain); impact of Emerald Ash Boerer devastation to come on the downtown streetscape 12. Parking is a problem in the core- this is a high priority 13. Recent tree plantings (mill park, dick's dam) enhance both areas. Litter in all Downtown Area (alot generated from discarded tim horton's drinks), an issue in spite of many garbage containers. 14. Much of local HVHT is new multi-use so speed bikes will scare off pedestrians in downtown Bolton. Business owners for the most part do not own their buildings - a disconnect. More stores catering to seniors should be downtown. 15. better more signs on historic buildings - telling of their use at in 1800's early 1900's 7. Do you support the establishment of one or more heritage conservation districts in the Village of Bolton? Yes 69% 27 No 8% 3 I don't know, I need more information 23% 9 Total Responses Do you support the establishment of one or more heritage conservation districts in the Village of Bolton? 10 Appendix 8. Do you have any concerns or issues related to the HCD Study or a future heritage conservation district designation in the Village of Bolton? 1. Worried about the preservation of ugly buildings that cant be torn down even if they are dilapidated. 2. Only that it protect built heritage ENOUGH, and future buildings complement existing heritage buildings in look and scale. 3. No 4. no 5. None presently 6. Rather than making it appear like strip malls...would prefer to see the outer buildings reminiscent of past heritage. Shops that would also accent the look for a heritage district. 7. we will reserve our concerns until we attend the meeting in October 8. Getting it done!with the new by pass, we have a unique opportunity to develop the Downtown core. 9. I believe this is LONG OVERDUE, lets work to preseving the great little town, we have so much history, lets share it with the world. 10. To attract visitors we require adequate parking. At present time, it is very difficult to see on coming traffic on King St. by P.O. when emerging from Nancy Street, when cars are parked on King St. 11. Yes - Don't want to be limited on my property on what I can and can't do 12. no 13. no 14. Driving in the park with bycickel not all dogs on the leach 15. no 16. no (relating to question about Humber River - heritage river - the Humber river should be stocked with fish and shale and rock cleaned up so that river could support fish life. As it is now it is way too shallow. Would be nice if public could go and fish) 17. Not at this point. 18. It is key to allay resident concerns around the several and sometimes interweaving local studies currently underway using consultants 19. Traffic/Noise/Pollution 20. Expansion of commercial buildings without parking and invading established residential properties 21. Proper maintenance e.g., grass cutting along the Humber River, west of King and Queen Streets. Last years planting not being maintained along the pathway from Ann Street to Sackville Street Could this be looked into?
22. The area has to accept evolution interaction with non-residents. Cannot become a museum. (Can we replace the truly awful River signs at both the Queen * King St Bridges? Looks like a handful of mud thrown at the signs. 10. If you have information related to the history... Name: 1. test 2. ANNA CLAUDIO FERRANTI 3. john hydon 4. Eric Mahar 5. Sreekanth George 6.
