9 RCMRD Sponsorship ESRI Ireland Sponsor Irish GI Volunteer to Africa in 2012 In 2009 IRLOGI established a scheme with the Regional Centre for Mapping and Research Development (RCMRD) based in Nairobi, Kenya which entailed Irish GI volunteers spending time working at RCMRD and, funding permitting, GI people from Africa nominated by RCMRD coming to Ireland on study tours or on work placements for short periods. At the 2011 conference ESRI Ireland offered a very generous sponsorship for an Irish GI volunteer to work at the RCMRD in During the plenary session the successful candidate (Helen Caughey) will provide a summary of her work at the RCMRD to date. We are currently looking for a 2013 sponsor. If interested in this opportunity please contact IRLOGI. Department of Environment, Community and Local Government Workshop As GIS Ireland 2012 Sponsors, The Department of Environment, Community and Local Government are hosting a workshop during the second Afternoon Session in the Green Suite, focussing on important topics such as the changing GIS landscape in Ireland, INSPIRE, Housing, Education and the very successful MyPlan.ie website. To get up to speed on developments within the DoECLG please visit the Green Suite between 14:00 and 17:00.
