9 Suggestions for improvement Ensure unhindered movement of pedestrians. Clean garbage cans regularly. Remove the summer gardens of catering facilities from King Milan Square. Arrange Balkanska Street as a pedestrian zone. Disable car parking on the Republic Square and remove containers. Finish the construction of TC "Serbia". Remove the sculpture for Edikt of Milan from Nišavski Quay. Reconstruct the pedestrian bridge to Niš Fortress. Rearrange the parking at the Niš Fortress Bridge into the square with greenery. Improve seating design. Fix holes on roads. More benches. Caring for wondering dogs and cats. More greenery, trees in Vozdova St, noise reduction. The city center relieved from car traffic. Better lighting. Improvement of cultural manifestations. Free Wi Fi.

18 GRID analysis of the city center First thoughts were about parking (garages outside the city center) and the activation of the riverside, what we wanted but didn't have. We also don't want an intensive road traffic, which we have in the city center.

19 GRID analysis of the city center The final results show that most things we want, we actually don't have, which implies that we are far from where we want to be in the future. On the other side, it is encouraging that the smallest number of things are those we have but don't want, which implies that we don't have a lot of things to fix, but a lot of new things to do in the future

20 The vision for the city center The official city strategy, The Revision of Strategy of Sustainable Development stated the vision of Niš as the inexhaustible source of chances: Niš will become an intersection and a place to meet people, ideas, culture and traditions; regional, economic, university, health, sports and tourism leader; a sustainable development center where a high quality of life has been achieved for all citizens.
