1 Venue and Accommodations CONFERENCE INFORMATION AND PROGRAM The conference is being held in the Quanzhou Hotel, a 5-star hotel in the heart of the Old City. Address: No. 22 Zhuangfu Lane, Quanzhou Tel: The address to show taxi drivers (if necessary) is: More information about the hotel is available at the following webpage (although the building has been renovated since the photo was taken, so do not be surprised if you do not recognize the building when you see it): Rooms are being reserved in this hotel for all participants by the Quanzhou Municipal City and Country Planning Bureau ( 泉州市城乡规划局 ). When participants arrive and register, there will be an option to share rooms if desired. Accommodations in Longyan near the Hakka villages will be more basic. Bring towel, soap and toilet paper. Transportation to Quanzhou For participants who are arriving in Xiamen, the Quanzhou Planning Bureau is sending buses to meet participants on June 17. Please watch for greeters holding Pacific Rim Conference signs in the arrivals lounge. The buses will coordinate with the following arrivals, and leave for Quanzhou at approximately the following times: - A bus will meet passengers arriving on flights ANA958; ANA935; N8251, the bus will leave Xiamen Airport approximately 2:30pm; - Another bus will meet passengers arriving on the boat from Taiwan at 4:30pm; this bus will also stop at Xiamen Airport to pick up passengers arriving before 5:30pm; - A car or small van will meet passengers arriving on flight CZ3805 and leave Xiamen Airport at approximately 8:15pm. Quanzhou is about a 90-minute drive from Xiamen. If anyone misses any of the above buses, they may show the hotel address above to a taxi driver, and bargain for a ride for about 300 Yuan RMB. The driver may take you only to Quanzhou s long-distance bus station, from which you may have to take another, local, taxi to the hotel for 10 Yuan or less. Participants who arrive in Quanzhou itself (Jinjiang Airport) may arrange individually with Dan Abramson (abramson@u.washington.edu) to be picked up.
