1 SELMON GREENWAY FEASIBILITY STUDY For: Hillsborough County Metropolitan Planning Organization By: Renaissance Planning
2 SELMON GREENWAY FEASIBILITY STUDY VISION Multimodal connection between Bayshore Blvd and Ybor City for East- West connection across downtown Turn under-utilized land under Expressway into enjoyable public space Bridge gap between disconnected northern and southern areas of downtown 2 SELMON GREENWAY
3 SELMON GREENWAY FEASIBILITY STUDY Create a safe, convenient, and desirable multi-use trail for pedestrians, bicyclists and transit users through downtown Tampa. Connect residents and visitors to downtown Tampa, Ybor City, and the Channel District with downtown employment, entertainment, cultural and educational venues. PLANNING PROCESS Defining goals Connect the Greenway to larger city-wide trails and transit facilities including the Downtown Riverwalk, the Meridian Street Greenway, Bayshore Boulevard, the TECO Historic Streetcar and the Marion Street Transitway. Minimize impacts to parking under and adjacent to the Selmon Expressway. Create more green space and recreational areas in downtown Tampa to foster a healthier and more active community. Provide for the safety and comfort of Greenway users through the use of lighting, benches, fountains, and other park amenities. Incorporate art, history and educational elements along the Greenway to add aesthetic and informative value to the Greenway and downtown Tampa. Incorporate innovative stormwater management techniques to minimize impacts to the environment. 3 SELMON GREENWAY
