3 Handling the product on the building site Transport Fire dampers should be transported on to the building site with a truck or crane fitted with a lifting fork. To avoid damage they must always be lifted, never dragged, and always set down gently. Receipt and inspection of delivery The fire dampers should be inspected as soon as the delivery reaches the site. The point of the inspection is to check that the delivery corresponds to the order and the delivery note. To approve the delivery, sign the delivery note. Products with faults or defects may not be installed. Contact the supplier immediately. Storage Storage of material at the site should be planned to ensure the least possible internal transport. The fire dampers must be protected against water and should always be kept in a dry place. They should also be handled in such a way that they incur no mechanical damage. Commissioning The fire damper may not be put into service until the entire installation is ready to start operation. 3 EKOVENT hereby disclaims all responsibility for: Damage caused by incorrect transport, handling or storage. 4 Instructions for installation, operation and maintenance EKO-SRBG2 General installation Why fire dampers? Fire dampers are one of several factors in a building that combine to give good protection in the event of fire. Fire protection requirements are mainly affected by the building class, fire-load density, heating effect, air supply, fire brigade response time and the presence of fire protection equipment. An alternative to performing calculation or demonstrating that chosen solutions satisfy functional requirements is to use CE-marked products. 4 Installation If CE-marking is to be valid, installation must always be done in accordance with the instructions supplied with the product. Mounting devices for installing dampers in walls and attachment brackets for ducts are delivered along with the damper. Other components such as mounting sleeves and fire sealant must be ordered separately. The hole to be made is always the dimensions of the damper + 55 mm. Connecting electricity This should be done by a qualified electrician in accordance with plans and the relevant circuit diagram. Circuit diagram, motor

Bend the damper bracket 90 at the groove. Sheet metal screw or steel pop rivet 6 1. Squeeze the EKO-GIS sleeve and insert it in the opening. 2. Attach the sleeve at the overlap with a sheet metal screw or pop rivet. 2. Stick the tip of the bracket between the sheet metal jacket and the insulation Bend the bracket 180 over the damper jacket. 4. Attach the bracket to the wall.

The fire/smoke damper should always be installed with the pivot shaft horizontal Make an opening in the wall equivalent to the nominal dimensions of the damper + 55 mm, i.e. with a gap of at least 25 mm all round. 2. Attach the EKO-GIS plasterboard wall sleeve to support the fire sealant between the structural element and the ventilation duct. The EKO-GIS is not needed for mounting in a concrete/brick wall. 3. Mount the damper in the wall, centre the damper in the opening and attach with the supplied EKO-MOV sheet metal brackets (damper brackets). 4. Mount the thermal sensor with the sensor bulb in the air flow, ensuring that it does not obstruct the movement of the damper blade. 5. Mount the duct and fill the gap between the duct and the wall with fire sealant EKO-KER or equivalent and seal with fire protection sealant. 6. Mount the accompanying EKO-MOV sheet metal brackets (duct brackets). 7. The suspension devices for the damper and ducting must meet the requirements for the fire-technical class of the aperture. 8. In cases where the damper is mounted as a transfer air device or end plate, an EKO-NRS wire mesh grille or EKO-FNS extension adapter must be mounted. 9. The following minimum dimensions must be observed when mounting: Minimum distance between dampers: 200 mm. Minimum distance to wall/floor: 75 mm. NOTE! On damper EKO-SRBG the extension adapter EKO-FNS with wire mesh grille must be used since the damper blade protrudes beyond the damper sleeve in open position.

9 Operation and maintenance Operation The EKO-SRBG2 fire/smoke damper is a CE-approved damper intended for fire compartmentation or protection against the spread of fire and smoke in ventilation installations. The EKO-SRBG2 is supplied with an electrical safety motor with a thermal sensor which closes the damper if the temperature exceeds 70 C. The damper can be connected to a monitoring system EKO-MKE/SKE, EKO-KE, EKO-TME/TSE or equivalent. Automatic function testing takes place every 48 hours (or at more frequent intervals), and the error function is shown on the display. Maintenance External and internal inspection Check electricity cables to motor, end position contacts and smoke detectors, and check the damper casing to ensure there are no foreign objects that might obstruct the movement of the damper blade. Check also the motor attachment, damper blades and sealing strip to ensure that no damage has occurred. Function control Automatic: see above Manuel: Manual function control can be done on the motor by using the small tool or from the menu of the central unit. At installation, manual function control can also be done on each slave unit (applies to EKO-MKE/SKE, EKO-TME/TSE). Manual function control can be done by pressing the test button for automatic function control on the front of the monitoring unit (applies to EKO-KE). The damper is closed when there is no power. Check that the damper is fully open when operating, closes and opens fully when tested, and closes completely when power is cut off. Otherwise follow the instructions for the EKO-MKE/SKE/KE/TME/TSE control and monitoring system. Cleaning We recommend preventive maintenance of the damper according to the needs of the installation. Damper blades and body (interior) should be cleaned by brushing, vacuum cleaning or wiping down. NOTE! No water or other liquid may be used. Note! After inspection the fire damper should be left in normal working position. Warning! Never have your hands in the damper when it is closing, in view of the risk of crushing. 10 Instructions for installation, operation and maintenance EKO-SRBG2 Control and monitoring systems Control and monitoring systems are used for automatic monitoring and function control of fire/smoke dampers, smoke dampers and pressure relief dampers, as well as different types of smoke detectors. 10 EKO-TME/TSE A wireless revolution The EKO-TME/TSE control and monitoring system is completely wireless, with no need at all to run cables to each damper, which can involve a great deal of work in large systems. This makes installation much simpler and faster, with great savings in time and money. It has never been easier or cheaper to install a fire monitoring system. EKO-MKE/SKE The EKO-MKE/SKE control and monitoring system is used together with 230 V damper motors. The central unit EKO-MKE works together with the slave unit EKO-SKE, which is placed at each damper. Up to 60 addressed slave units can be connected. The units have been developed using the very latest technology to give low installation costs with two-wire communication and with many intelligent functions for optimal control and monitoring. The central unit works with a communication unit mounted to the damper. The central unit is connected to 230 V and automatically seeks contact with the damper units when the system is started. In the event of a power failure or a fault in communication, the damper closes automatically as a safety measure. The units have been developed using the very latest technology, and have many intelligent functions for optimal monitoring. EKO-KE2, KE4, KE8, KE16 The EKO-KE2, KE4, KE8 and KE16 control and monitoring systems are used together with 24 V damper motors and up to two, four, eight or sixteen dampers. EKO-KE 2, 4, 8, 16 provide power to damper motors and smoke detectors with a built-in transformer. The units are well tested.
