1 HOA Annunciator Load Programming and Monitoring Instructions Overview HOA Annunciator loads can be created in the ESS32 Load Directory for Novar s Savvy. Because the annunciator is built into the Savvy, the load does not take up an output point of any control module. The HOA Annunciator load activates the Savvy s System Fault Output when one of the On/Off/Auto switches of any IOM is moved out of the automatic position. The Savvy s system fault output can be wired to an annunciator or interfaced into an alarm system. When an HOA Annunciator load exists, the system fault output responds only to it, not to other types of alarms in the system. The system fault output is normally open and closes when commanded by the HOA Annunciator load. For this feature to function properly, the Savvy must be version downloaded to level Creating an HOA Annunciator Load The following procedure should be used to create the HOA Annunciator load. Step Procedure 1 Access the ESS32 Modes of Operation Menu, type in the number for the System Format option, and press enter. 2 Select a system and access the Load Directory screen. 3 Select an unassigned number to create the load, name it, and press enter to produce the load type popup menu. 4 Use the keyboard arrow keys to move the cursor to the HOA Annunciator option to select it as the load type and press enter. NOTE! Only one HOA Annunciator load can be created per Savvy. Once the load has been created, the HOA Annunciator option will no longer be offered as a load type. DOC. #TD /12/07 1

2 Programming the HOA Annunciator Load To program the following parameters for the HOA Annunciator load, access the Load Menu in ESS32, select the HOA Annunciator load, and access its General Control Settings and Parameters screen. PARAMETER Program Operating Mode Output Response EXPLANATION Select the Run or Standby option. Select one of the following options for the system fault output: Maintained contact closure Flasher If the flasher option is selected, the rate at which the contact is to open and close must also be set. The default is 0 minutes, 2 seconds. If the rate is set in seconds, an even number of seconds must be entered. If an odd number is entered, the system reduces the number by 1 (for example, 35 seconds would be changed to 34.) Minimum On Time Remote Report Trigger Points Indicate the minimum amount of time that the system fault output is to operate once it is energized. Select On if a remote report is to be produced each time the system fault output is energized. Currently, the only trigger points are IOM outputs. To set this up: Press enter to open a screen where the IOM output points can be selected. Identify the IOM output points that are to energize the system fault output when the HOA switches are out of the automatic position. Press enter to return to the General Control Settings/Parameters screen. Press the space bar twice to put an asterisk in front of HOA State. Press escape to complete the process. 2 DOC. #TD /12/07

3 Monitoring the HOA Annunciator Load Use the following procedure to access the HOA Annunciator Load Monitoring screen. Step Procedure 1 Access the ESS32 Modes of Operation Menu and select the Network Monitoring option. 2 Select the appropriate system and access the Load Directory screen. 3 Select the appropriate load and the Monitoring option to open the monitoring screen. The screen displays the following information, which can be used to monitor the load. FIELD OUTPUT POINT OPERATING MODE LOAD STATUS SCHEDULE STATUS TRIGGER POINTS INFORMATION PROVIDED Shows the name of the load s output point. Shows whether the operating mode parameter was set for Standby or Run. Indicates if the load is off or on. If this load is activated, this field also displays a countdown for the minimum on time. Indicates if the load is currently scheduled off or scheduled on. If the HOA annunciator load is scheduled off, the system will not activate the system fault output or generate an alarm. The HOA Annunciator Load Monitoring screen will show the position of the switches whether the load is scheduled on or off. When a switch is out of the Auto position, this field will read as follows: Scheduled off Standby mode: OK (no alarm generated) Run mode: Alarm (no alarm generated) Scheduled on Standby mode: OK (no alarm generated) Run mode: Alarm (alarm generated) continued DOC. #TD /12/07 3

4 FIELD List of Outputs INFORMATION PROVIDED The list shows the IOM output points that were identified as triggers during the programming process. If a trigger point s HOA switch is in the Auto position, the word Auto appears next to the point. If the trigger point s HOA switch is moved out of the Auto position, On/Off appears next to the point and is highlighted. Setting up an Event Log Once the HOA Annunciator load has been created, an Event log can be created to log the status of the HOA switch for any input/output module. Create a new data log and enter the log parameters according to the instructions in Novar s ESS32 Programming Manual (available in the Documents folder on the Novar Software Package CD). Select the appropriate IOM output points to define the log points. Select the HOA Switch option in the popup menu that appears after each output point has been selected. NOTE! Event logs do not log at regular time intervals. Instead, a log entry is recorded only when an HOA switch is moved out of the Auto position. Standard data log points cannot be created on the same log as events such as HOA switch status or timed overrides. Once the log has been created and a download completed, the log is available for monitoring via ESS32 s Network Monitoring option. Step Procedure 1 Access ESS32 s Function Menu, type the number for the Data Logs option, and press enter to open the Log Directory. 2 Type the number for the HOA Annunciator load log and the Modify/Display option and press enter to open the Log Menu. 3 Type the number for the Monitoring option and press enter to open the Log Monitoring screen. 4 Type the number of the output point to be monitored and press enter to display the log for that point (Figure 1). 4 DOC. #TD /12/07

5 Figure 1. Log Monitoring screen If no events have occurred, the message No event entries exist is displayed. If the HOA switch has been moved out of the Auto position, the screen lists the following information: Date it occurred Time it was overridden Time it was returned to the automatic position Number of days and length of time (in hours, minutes, and seconds) the switch was out of the Auto position The event logs can also be viewed in Novar s iscope system (from the Menu Tree only), and the logs can be transferred according to the procedures outlined in the Transfers chapter of Novar s iscope User s Manual (available in the Documents folder on the Novar Software Package CD).
