the orchidphile November 2017 PRE-ORDER LIST (203) IMPORTANT! Address all correspondence & orders to: (Please mention either Plant Pre-Order & note the particular show/event or Mail Order in the subject line) This list replaces & supersedes all previous lists. All orders are filled in the order in which they are received and are subject to prior sale. Prices are listed in US Dollars OF SPECIAL NOTE: We have now added a new section to show some of our first-bloom One-of-a-Kind novelty seedlings (not mericlones), many of which are from Dragon Tree Eagle breeding lines that we ve purchased from some of the cutting-edge breeding programs in Taiwan. These are available on a First Come-First Serve basis ~ and each photo is of the actual seedling being offered. Also, be aware that Phal. bellina, Phal. violacea and the many novelty hybrids bred from them are very slow to reach blooming size and, as a result, are more expensive. We ve also expanded our collection of miniature Vandaceous, miniature Dendrobiums & divisions of some of our select Paphs ~ all of which grow & flower happily with our Phals. Each genus is put into their own category after our Phal. listings. Most plants are in 2.7 pots as first or second bloomers unless otherwise noted as being fully mature in 4 pots PLEASE NOTE: Stock quantities of 6 or fewer are noted in parens ORDERING INFORMATION FOR OUR MAIL ORDER CLIENTS: In the winter or during inclement weather, shipments may be delayed pending more moderate weather conditions. Shipping is either via FedEx Ground or Air depending on final destination. We reserve the right to withdraw any offering from sale and to limit quantities. We guarantee all plants to be true to identity to the best of our knowledge. However, since many come in from Taiwan, we have to assume they are properly labeled as to their species or hybrid name. We make no warranty as to the productiveness of any plants sold since everyone s culture conditions vary widely. Although we do our utmost to pack carefully, we are not responsible for damage to buds or flowers due to shipping if buyer specifically requests these plants ~ therefore, risk is assumed by buyer for buds or flowers on plants shipped at this stage Safe arrival of a healthy orchid plant is guaranteed. An additional note on shipping charges: FedEx charges an additional $3.50 for what they call Home Delivery so many of our clients choose to have their plants delivered to either their office or to a nearby FedEx Ship Center that accepts Ground for Pickup packages ~ those business/fedex locations always gets their deliveries much earlier than a Home Delivery. If you want to save the additional charge levied for Home Delivery, please let us know if you have a business address you would like to use, or we can research a FedEx location near you that would accept a Ground package as a Hold for Pickup. Packing & Shipping Charges: Based on the total of your order, a minimum of 10% for packing plus the actual FedEx shipping cost will be charged. We use FedEx Ground for all 1-3 day deliveries within our delivery zone since Ground shipping rates are much more reasonable than Air. If heat packs are requested, they will be provided at an additional charge. SIZE DEFINITIONS: = Previously flowered, fully mature Blooming Size plants F = Currently in flower (single spike unless otherwise noted) B = In bud (single spike unless otherwise noted) SP = In spike, just initiating to medium spike stage (single spike unless otherwise noted) BS = Blooming size (should flower in season) NBS = Near blooming size (approximately 1 year to flowering in season) S = about 2-3 years to flowering

PHAL SPECIES: Most of these Phalaenopsis species are from Taiwan & were sibbed or selfed using very select parents. Phal. bellina, Phal. violacea, Phal. gigantea and Phal. javanica are extremely slow to reach maturity so we re only offering Near Blooming or Blooming Size plants. As a result of their extra years to reach maturity, the pricing on these plants is higher than is usual for most of our Phal. species. PHOTO NAME & DESCRIPTION SIZE PRICE Phal. bellina fma. alba (Sib Cross of FRAGRANT Species) Rarely available but thanks to our annual trip to Taiwan, we were able to obtain a few seedlings from this newest sib cross of two alba clones! These plants are just now reaching flowering size, being very slow to make it to maturity, and we re expecting a much improved strain of this alba form of the species resulting from select sibbings and selfings created by this Taiwan nursery. Many will show a soft green picotee or tip on its segments. These plants will most likely spike up & flower for the first time this summer, producing just 1-2 flowers initially. However, if the spike remains green, do not remove it as it will add more buds in addition to producing additional spikes. FRAGRANT! ONE-OF-A-KIND SEEDLINGS! Phal. bellina fma. blue-green (Sib Cross of FRAGRANT Species) This particular strain of the delightfully fragrant Phal. bellina carries the newest breeding for a coerulean blue flush with the tips of its segments showing a much stronger green influence. An eyecatching result and a brand new direction in sibbing Phal. bellina for unique new color contrasts. FRAGRANT! ONE-OF-A-KIND SEEDLINGS! COLOR VARIABLE NBS (1) BS $ 65 $ 65 Phal. bellina fma. coerulea (Sib Cross of FRAGRANT Species) The fragrant & beautiful Phal. bellina in a new color form! Typically, Phal. bellina has a central pink blush/flush on all its segments ~ however, this strain has a more cerulean blue to lavender flush which, along with its deep lavender lip, makes quite a statement. This species tends to continue to flower again on older inflorescences in addition to producing NBS (1) $ 38

PHOTO NAME & DESCRIPTION SIZE PRICE new so don t remove them unless they turn yellow. We re guessing this group is about a year to flowering & yet we ve seen a couple spike up already showing their increased vigor as a sib cross ~ they sold immediately! FRAGRANT! ONE-OF-A-KIND SEEDLINGS! COLOR VARIABLE CHING HUA NURSERY, TAIWAN Phal. celebensis (Sib Cross of Species) Endemic to Sulawesi, this miniature species has beautifully mottled silvery grey-green leaves making it an attractive addition to any collection, even when not in flower! Usually flowering from late summer to early fall, its tall inflorescences can literally be covered with successively opening semi-peloric flowers, all presented on a gracefully cascading display. This particular Phalaenopsis species is one of the few that does better in shade & kept moist year round. Not often available & a really unique little treasure! MINIATURE! NBS (1) $ 35 ONE-OF-A-KIND SEEDLINGS! JIAHO NURSERIES, TAIWAN (Actual photo of this clone) Phal. cornu-cervi fma. alba Peloric (Peloric 3-lip form of Species) A perfect 3-lip clone of the alba form of this popular fragrant species! The result of a clonal shift, these have all been flowered to assure they are true to the mother plant without reverting back to the regular alba form. Beautifully flattened inflorescences will produce long-lasting waxy & full form fragrant yellow-green flowers on & off throughout the year. Cooler temperatures & brighter light in fall/winter produce the lime green segments as in the photo. Summer flowers tend to be more yellow in their sepal color. In addition to producing new spikes each year, previously flowered spikes remain green & continue to add additional buds and branches off & on year round! FRAGRANT! B/F 1-2 spikes $ 55

PHOTO NAME & DESCRIPTION SIZE PRICE Phal. equestris fma. alba BS (6) $ 48 (Rare pure alba form of Species) These seedlings are from the same population as a select form of this species which we gave the clonal name Tara s Beauty (pictured on the right)! The flowers are fuller and much longer lasting than is typical for the species which leads us to wonder if it s a tetraploid (4N) population. Great compact leaf spans and readily branching compact spikes make this strain highly desirable. MINIATURE SPECIES DISCLAIMER: These plants just came in bare-root from Taiwan, have been recently potted up in NZ moss & as a result, are not yet fully established. If you re an experienced grower & choose to order one, please be aware of this & the need to get them established under your growing conditions. Phal. japonica (Species - formerly known as Sedirea japonica) A great and easy-growing miniature Vandaceous species with delightfully fragrant small waxy flowers! These are fully mature plants that are ready to show off with their cascading and wonderfully fragrant spikes, the flowers crisply marked with rich rose-burgundy. From our first batch of this species we brought in a few years ago, we discovered that after cutting back their spring flower spikes, almost every plant was spiking again, so they re capable of flowering more than once a year! When fully mature, this species can put on quite a fragrant show! FRAGRANT MINIATURE ONE-OF-A-KIND SEEDLINGS! DISCLAIMER: These plants just came in bare-root from Taiwan, have been recently potted up in NZ moss & as a result, are not yet fully established. If you re an experienced grower & choose to order one, please be aware of this & the need to get them established under your growing conditions. NBS/BS (3) $ 33

PHOTO NAME & DESCRIPTION SIZE PRICE Phal. javanica alba (Rare alba form of Species) A unique opportunity to obtain a stem prop of the elusive rare alba form of Phalaenopsis javanica, one of the most charming of all miniature Phalaenopsis species! Culture is the same as for all Phal. javanicas ~ and although we grow them in small pots in NZ moss, they do equally well mounted. A rare addition to any Phalaenopsis species collection! MICRO-MINI SPECIES BS (1) $ 95 Phal. javanica Red KF#1 (Species) A stem prop of a select & extremely dark color form of this species with emboldened RED stippling/striping! We ve already flowered several of this clone & they are quite striking in their color intensity as opposed to the regular form of Phal. javanica. Another musthave for any species and/or Phalaenopsis collection! SP/B (1) $ 75 MICRO-MINI SPECIES Phal. violacea fma. coerulea (Sib cross of this Indigo form of Species) A sib-cross of this fragrant species coming from two dark indigo parents from the breeding lines of HP Norton combined with those of Krull Smith! These have been vigorous growers and might very well make their first spikes within the coming year. As a sib cross, there will be some variation in the intensity of blue from one seedling to the next. FRAGRANT! ONE-OF-A-KIND SEEDLINGS! CHING HUA NURSERY, TAIWAN NBS (1) $ 42 MULTIFLORAL MINIATURES, COMPACT-GROWING BRIGHTLY COLORED NOVELTIES, INTERGENERIC PHAL HYBRIDS & EVEN SOME LARGER-FLOWERING STUNNERS: Again, most of these clones are the result of the excellent Taiwanese breeding programs. Many of the plants below were hand-picked from select nurseries over the last several years on our annual trips to Taiwan.

PLEASE NOTE: With many of the harlequins & the red or orange novelties, differences in light & temperature at various times of the year will cause some variation to occur in the flower color and/or intensity of their markings. Under warmer temperatures & more shaded conditions in the summer, many red novelty-type hybrids with yellow or orange in their breeding background will flower showing more of those colors. Under cooler temperatures & brighter light in the fall to winter months, the red pigment in the flowers is more strongly expressed resulting in solid to nearly solid red flowers. And those hybrids with a heavy harlequin influence will show their boldest and most vivid colors when bloomed under cooler temperatures & brighter light during the fall & winter. In addition, many of the Phal. bellina and/or violacea-influenced novelties improve in color intensity, size and fuller form on their 2 nd & 3 rd flowerings, as do the actual species parents. PHOTO NAME & DESCRIPTION SIZE PRICE Phal. Chiada Hebe AAM1023A (I-Hsin Sesame x I-Hsin Canary) A unique new color form of this great multi-floral mini! Quite unlike what we expected, this clone has produced wonderfully round 2 creamy white, heavy substance, flowers marked with fine spotting on their lateral sepals, reminiscent of a larger rounder Phal. stuartiana. Their heavy substance comes from their novelty harlequin-influenced parents, leading to a long-lasting display, with their amazing floriferousness an added and pleasant surprise. Great upright leaf habit & compact vigorously branching spikes are in perfect proportion to each other. Great for limited space or under-lights culture. Just about as charming as a mini Phal can be! MULTI-FLORAL MINI! $ 22 Phal. Dragon Tree Eagle Mericlone (Penang Girl x Black Eagle) A sensational new color form of this very famous hybrid! Producing compact spikes of fragrant waxy flowers, we leave previously flowered spikes on the plant if they remain green since they ll continue to add buds in season in addition to producing a new spike or two. FRAGRANT WAXY NOVELTY! BS (5) $ 45 YAPHON ORCHIDS, TAIWAN DISCLAIMER: These plants just came in bare-root from Taiwan, have been recently potted up in NZ moss & as a result, are not yet fully established. If you re an experienced grower & choose to order one, please be aware of this & the need to get them established under your growing conditions.

PHOTO NAME & DESCRIPTION SIZE PRICE Phal. Fangmei Sweet OX1536 SP (3) $ 28 (Little Gem Stripes x Dou-dii Golden Princess) A new orange multi-floral miniature created by a suffusion of the red candy stripes from Little Gem Stripes over the yellow background of Dou-dii Golden Princess! Great compact spikes produce multitudes of 6.5cm flowers on branching sprays from fully mature plants, each flower outlined with a fine yellow picotee. Cooler & brighter winter conditions always produce the most vivid color. The best of all the Fangmei Sweets we have seen in Taiwan over the last few years! MULTI-FLORAL MINI! OX ORCHIDS, TAIWAN Phal. Formosa Dream M (amabilis x lobbii) An adorable micro-miniature with a small leaf span & charming compact spikes of small white flowers accented by an orange lobbii-influenced lip! When Phal. Formosa Dream was originally registered, Phal. aphrodite and Phal. parishii had not been separately identified so this name could have been registered by the hybridizer using amabilis or aphrodite, and lobbii or parishii. As a result, the hybrid name applies to any combination of these parents. However, from the full flower form & the lip shape, we suspect the cross is actually Phal. aphrodite x Phal. parishii. Whatever the parentage, it s a great easy to grow micro-mini that will fit easily into any collection and thrives under lower Phalaenopsis light! MICRO MINI! BS (1) $ 48

PHOTO NAME & DESCRIPTION SIZE PRICE Phal. Gan Lin Black Diamond Montclair AM/AOS (4) $ 42 (Sogo Vivien x I-Hsin Chocolate) A fabulous new multi-floral miniature harlequin that is hard to beat! It was just awarded an AM/AOS by the American Orchid Society for its presentation of beautifully formed and intensely colored flowers. Although its flowers are about 2 in size, its compact leaf span is only about 8 with the flowers displayed on a wonderfully compact spike. Its pod parent, Sogo Vivien, keeps the leaf span small while its pollen parent, I-Hsin Chocolate, brings layer upon layer of rich dark harlequin color to its heavy substance flowers. Ideal for under-lights and space-challenged growing! GAN LIN NURSERY, TAIWAN Phal. Haur Jih Fancy Taida (Chingruey s Blood-red x Chingruey s Fancy) Outrageously blood-red waxy flowers with fabulous full form and cardboardlike substance are produced on compact spikes over equally compact leaves! Older plants of this clone exhibit an amazing flower count for a waxy novelty hybrid. Our first bloomers were in just 2.7 pots, producing up to four 2 ¾ flowers per spike, with beautiful thick round leaves. If the spikes remain green, they can continue to produce additional buds plus add a new spike or two. Definitely Award Quality! SP (4) Luckily, we ve obtained just a few more of this clone from Taiwan ~ they are just beginning to initiate their new spikes! $ 75 TAIDA NURSERY, TAIWAN FRAGRANT WAXY NOVELTY

PHOTO NAME & DESCRIPTION SIZE PRICE Phal. Hwu-Ann Golden Taida Honey (3) $ 28 (Sogo Pride x Tying Shin Spring) A sensational mating of two of Tying Shin s best waxy yellow novelty hybrids! As first bloomers in just 2.7 pots, they were already producing 5+ buds on compact spikes (sometimes 2 spikes) over equally compact leaf spans. The mother plant we saw at the nursery was fully mature in a 4 pot with two branching spikes of long-lasting flowers. This little hybrid is a great step forward from Phal. Sogo Golden, one of our alltime favorites! (PS: We forgot to smell the flowers so can t tell you if they took on the fragrance of the parents or not ~ but our guess is that they did.) TAIDA NURSERY, TAIWAN FRAGRANT WAXY NOVELTY Phal. Jia Ho Summer Love Little Pixie HCC/AOS (Taisuco Micky x bellina) Emboldened with mega-intensified dark splashing/flaring from its harlequininfluenced multi-floral mini pod parent, Phal. Taisuco Micky, this new mini carries the super thick waxy flower substance, rich central flush & light fragrance from its pollen parent, Phal. bellina! Thick & super compact leaves allow it to be tucked easily into any collection. A real eye-catcher which can flower more than once a year & can also continue to form buds on previously flowered spikes in addition to producing new! B/F (4) 2 spikes BS $ 35 $ 42 $ 28 LIGHTLY FRAGRANT! WAXY MULTI-FLORAL MINI JIAHO NURSERY, TAIWAN

PHOTO NAME & DESCRIPTION SIZE PRICE Phal. Joy Spring Canary Taipei AM/AOS (Buena Jewel x Yungho Gelb Canary) The very best of all the clones of Phal. Joy Spring Canary we have seen over the last few years! Beautiful full form nonfading golden yellow fragrant waxy flowers are produced on compact spikes. And its fragrance is delightful due to a heavy infusion of three fragrant species in its immediate background: Phal. violacea, amboinensis & micholitzii! FRAGRANT! WAXY NOVELTY NBS $ 48 Phal. K S Happy Eagle Sweet Fragrance (Dragon Tree Eagle x Nobby s Fox) A select clone of the famous Phal. K S Happy Eagle which could create some exciting new progeny! Sweet Fragrance has taken on the slightly larger flower size of its pollen parent, Phal. Nobby s Fox, while still retaining the fabulous color and heavily flushed lateral sepals from its famous pod parent, Phal. Dragon Tree Eagle. A free-bloomer producing brightly colored waxy flowers, it has very compact round leaves and carries a delightfully sweet fragrance. As with most hybrids of this type of breeding, do not remove previously flowered spikes if they re still green since they can continue to produce additional buds while at the same time producing more new spikes. FRAGRANT WAXY NOVELTY SP/B $ 48

PHOTO NAME & DESCRIPTION SIZE PRICE Phal. K S Sweet Diamond A08118 (Ching Ann Diamond x Sogo Golden) A great mating of a multi-floral miniature with a waxy novelty & a great new direction in this line of breeding! Ching Ann Diamond, a rich pink multi-floral, brings floriferousness to this hybrid while Sogo Golden, a waxy yellow novelty flower, adds its heavy substance, giving the flowers their beautiful sunset/salmon color. As with many of this type of breeding, cooler temperatures & brighter light produce an even more intense flower color. A sensational & extremely long-lasting miniature display with glowing color! SP 2 spikes $ 33 KUNG SIR NURSERY, TAIWAN MULTI-FLORAL MINI Phal. Lioulin Sparrow Taida Violet Butterfly (Tai-I Yellow Bird x Sogo Rosa) An adorable harlequin mini that has already produced 2 branching spikes in just 2.7 pots! This group is just beginning to flower on its first branching spikes, the spikes being just slightly taller than the clone Taida Little Panda. It also differs from that clone in that all its segments are surrounded by a generous yellow picotee. The perfect little brighten any corner Phalaenopsis! MULTI-MINI HARLEQUIN! B/F 1 branching spike (1) 2 branching spikes $ 28 $ 33

PHOTO NAME & DESCRIPTION SIZE PRICE Phal. Little One (hygrochila x japonica) A great little hybrid that was originally a cross of two miniature Vandaceous species, the parents of which have since been re-classified way too many times! Originally it was a cross of Vandopsis parishii (now Phal. hygrochila) with Sedirea japonica (now Phal. japonica). Reclassifications aside, these plants produce beautifully spotted small waxy yellow flowers over very compact foliage. As a hybrid population, there will be a slight variation from one plant to another but all have flowered with the same wonderfully spotted flowers & lips. Robust & easy growers! FRAGRANT MINI! BS (4) $ 45 DISCLAIMER: These plants just came in bare-root from Taiwan, have been recently potted up in NZ moss & as a result, are not yet fully established. A delightful 2-tone multi-floral mini with that fabulously contrasting broad brilliant red-orange lobbii-type lip! Capable of producing multitudes of branching spikes for an amazingly floriferous presentation ~ and they are now spiking again in just 6 months. Miki Galaxy 69 (Miki Queen x Chian Xen Pearl) $ 28 This modern red harlequin hybrid produces huge, almost 5, wonderfully flat flowers on gracefully cascading inflorescences, each flower perfectly presented on the spike for the ultimate display! Recipient of a Silver Medal from TOGA, it also won the Best Phalaenopsis honor at the 2017 Japan Grand Prix International Orchid Show. Its harlequin breeding background has resulted in a velvety dark harlequin suffusion which almost totally covers the flowers, revealing just a fine picotee around all its segments. One of the very best from this line of breeding for flower size, presentation & its eye-popping wow factor! MIKI ORCHIDS, TAIWAN (NOTE: this was just formally registered with the RHS under the above name rather than as Phal. Ebony Sweet Gem as previously expected) Phal. Natsume s Berry Little Treasure HCC/AOS (Yu Pin Natsume x Fuller s Berry Another clone using the great miniature harlequin parent, Fuller s Berry! Combined with Yu Pin Natsume, it has created cardboard-substance flowers that are almost black & are FRAGRANT our photo, shot at the show with a flash, doesn t begin to capture how really almost black these flowers are (due to the flash reflecting back to the camera). Mated with Yu Pin Natsume, another heavily marked harlequin mini, its rich dark color is the result of layer upon layer of harlequin suffusion coming from both parents, producing a thick flower with heavy color pigment and no hint of any other color. These plants have already flowered once, producing 2 branching spikes in just a 2.7 pot and will continue to produce flowers on previously bloomed spikes in addition to creating new a couple which were cut back just 2 months ago are already spiking again. 14 PHOTO NAME & DESCRIPTION SIZE PRICE Phal. OX Black Tea OX1707 AM/AOS (Coral Lake x OX Spot Queen) F (6) $ 33 When granted its 86 point AM/AOS at the Taiwan International Orchid Show, this spectacular clone was bearing 12 brilliantly striped harlequin-emboldened flowers on one cascading inflorescence! Its burgundy spotting coalesced along its bold stripes as a result of its harlequin parent, softening towards its edges with a fine white picotee. Flower size was almost 4 & it presented a dramatically vivid result combining the best of both parents. OX NURSERY, TAIWAN Phal. OX Bordeaux OX1716 (OX King x French Spots) Large 4 flowers combining a famous French spot hybrid with a proven harlequin parent from Taiwan s breeding programs! The result has been a great combination of both parents with the harlequin, OX King, merging the spots into a solid rich burgundy centrally and harlequinizing the spotting towards the edges of the flowers. Beautiful round form and a gracefully cascading inflorescence make this new hybrid a definite show stopper! OX NURSERY, TAIWAN SP/B (3) 4 pots $ 42 Phal. OX Cheese OX1658 (OX Little King x Fuller s Cheese) When we visited OX Nursery in Taiwan, we saw a bench run of this particular harlequin multi-floral miniature which immediately drew our eyes! Multitudes of 4.5cm (1.75 ) heavy substance flowers cascaded from wonderfully compact spikes, its velvety blackened-burgundy harlequin intensity nothing short of outstanding. One of the absolute best of all multi-floral miniature harlequins we have ever seen! (3) $ 42 OX NURSERY, TAIWAN

PHOTO NAME & DESCRIPTION SIZE PRICE Phal. OX Diamond OX1719 (Brother Sara Gold x Haur Jin Diamond) Another clone to be released by OX Nurseries ~ the name was just shared with us on our recent trip to Taiwan! Exciting yellow 2 ½ flowers dramatically accented with dark burgundy harlequin spotting just outlining all their segments. And their heavier substance leads to a longerlasting display. Intensity of harlequin patterning will vary with light & temperature during bud formation ~ the photo shows the harlequin marks during warmer & more shaded conditions. What sets this particular hybrid apart is its soft pink picotee & pure white lip against layer upon layer of harlequin spots which have fused to create its rich and velvety burgundy color. The absolute newest direction in harlequin breeding for floriferousness & dramatic patterning! (These plants are from a small test run done by OX & as a result, are in very limited supply ~ we ve been told it will not be re-cloned, due to lack of interest from the European pot plant buyers, so this is the last of them that will be available.) 16 PHOTO NAME & DESCRIPTION SIZE PRICE Phal. OX Golden Apple OX1595 AM/AOS $ 28 (Fusheng Sweet Paradise x OX Spot Queen) Just awarded at the Taiwan International Orchid Show, this is an outrageous new novelty-size harlequin with stable & unique patterning which is consistent from one flower to the next! This is the only clone from this cross that has been dominant for its harlequin heritage. Nonfading golden yellow flowers, 9cm in size, are kissed with a touch of white around their harlequin-haloed column, with the harlequin patterning radiating out & leaving a narrow yellow picotee around all the segments. Beautifully finished with a bold ruby-red lip, this clone from OX Nurseries took on the best of both parents producing a flower totally different from the rest of this hybrid s progeny. A must for the newest in larger flowering yellow harlequin breeding! OX NURSERY, TAIWAN Phal. OX Golden Song OX1634 $ 25 (Surf Song x Sunrise Star) A great new mini from one of our most favorite miniature waxy yellow parents, giving a unique & surprising result! Its central flush of salmon-orange comes from Surf Song, known for its beautiful art shade flowers. The yellow background color and smaller 6.2cm (2.5 ) flower size is thanks to the pollen parent, Sunrise Star, one of our favorite waxy minis. While Surf Song rounded out the flowers of Sunrise Star beautifully, Sunrise Star gave it the smaller size waxy flowers & a branching compact flowering & growth habit. A wonderful display over compact leaves of something totally different in cuttingedge miniature yellow novelty breeding! OX NURSERY, TAIWAN

PHOTO NAME & DESCRIPTION SIZE PRICE Dtps. OX Happy Girl OX 1592 (OX X-Ray x OX Little King) B/F 2 spikes $ 35 A select clone, for its rich color intensity, of this great new harlequin multi-floral mini! The flowers on this clone are around 2 ½ in size and will most likely not be much larger once the plants are fully mature. The harlequin spotting pattern is actually a rich blackenedburgundy and is quite a dramatic contrast against the pink and white background of the flower. In just 2.7 pots, they ve already flowered once & just 4 months later are already spiking again. Will flower easily twice a year! BOLD MINI HARLEQUIN! OX NURSERY, TAIWAN Phal. OX Little Prince OX1712 (Chih Shang s Stripes x OX Black Jack) This multi-floral mini harlequin hybrid is so new, having just been produced as a test run by OX Nurseries, that they just released its name to me on our recent trip to Taiwan! A vigorous grower, we were totally taken with its harlequin & splash petal patterning on a smaller heavy substance 6.8cm flower, creating quite an abundant presentation. Its candy stripe pod parent was emboldened by OX Black Jack, the harlequin parent, resulting in a great mix of harlequin and splash accents. And its degree of harlequin markings varies greatly according to light & temperature with the boldest patterning occurring under cooler & brighter conditions. We ve also flowered a couple that were charmingly peloric! OX NURSERY, TAIWAN (5) $ 28

PHOTO NAME & DESCRIPTION SIZE PRICE Phal. OX Prince OX1480 AM/AOS $ 28 (OX Black Jack x Leopard Prince) Seen & awarded at the 2014 Taiwan International Orchid Show, this particular clone of OX Prince displayed 12 full round flowers on a single branching inflorescence! 20 PHOTO NAME & DESCRIPTION SIZE PRICE Phal. Pure Moon Green Pixie (Timothy Christopher x Brother Lawrence) Creating a virtual cloud of soft yellowgreen, this multi-floral mini is an amazingly vigorous grower, readily producing branching spikes, even on first bloomers! We also like the roundness of its flowers as opposed to the starry shape common on other yellow multifloral miniatures. Its pollen parent, Brother Lawrence, adds substance to the flowers helping to provide a long-lasting display. And the pod parent, Timothy Christopher, creates its amazing floriferousness. As pictured on the left, it s capable of producing basal keikis from a fully mature mother plant which, when all flower at the same time, produce a spectacular display! MULTI-FLORAL MINI B/F (5) Readily branching $ 28 Phal. Sogo Golden Fangtastic AM/AOS $ 45 (Sogo Manager x Sogo Medal) One of the best of great waxy non-fading yellows, this clone of Dtps. Sogo Golden is a perfect example of great! With its compact leaf span producing multiple sets of firm leaves, it flowers on strong upright self-supporting spikes. Displaying a very compact spike habit due to its Sogo Medal pollen parent, its non-fading waxy yellow flowers actually become even richer in color as they mature and emit a light fragrance on a warm day. But what really sets this clone apart and immediately draws the eye is its contrast of a dramatic white center and white lip, the white center becoming even more pronounced under warmer temperatures. 21 PHOTO NAME & DESCRIPTION SIZE PRICE Phal. Taida Blush Taida (Hilo Lip x Malibu Blush) Even as first bloomers in just 2.7 pots, these plants have produced gracefully cascading spikes once fully mature, their flower presentation will be outrageous! With attractively round leaves, in perfect proportion to the spikes, this hybrid is a much easier grower than the difficult Hilo Lip, thanks to the pollen parent s influence ~ yet it maintains that beautiful pristine white lip in contrast to the rich pink flower. ONE-OF-A-KIND SEEDLINGS FIRST BLOOM ONE-OF-A-KIND NOVELTY SEEDLINGS (all are in 2.7 pots): All of our novelty or select seedlings flowered for the first time for us this past summer ~ and with Phal. bellina in the background of many, as first bloomers they will initially produce only 1-3 flowers on their first spikes. This particular type of breeding is extremely slow to grow to flowering maturity, unlike many other Phalaenopsis, due to the heavy influence of waxy Phal species in its background. For this line of breeding we leave any still-green spikes on the plants since they will most likely add more buds to these spikes in addition to producing new spikes at their next flowering. Some people choose to remove the initial spikes & give the energy back to the plant. However, we ve never noticed (with this line of novelty-type breeding) that it doesn t make much, if any, difference in the overall vigor of the plant since their breeding background carries the tendency to retain older spikes. Also, with this kind of breeding, flower form, color and size improve enormously with their 2 nd & 3 rd flowerings. But ~ the real bonus to owning a One-of-a-Kind plant is that you can give it your own clonal name! PHOTO NAME & NOTES SIZE PRICE

FRAGRANT MINIATURE CHINESE CYMBIDIUMS: All the species listed below grow & flower easily WITH our Phals under the same light & WARMER temperature conditions since they are miniature growing Chinese species, requiring much lower light, less space & will grow under warmer temperatures than their larger cousins ~ they also don t require the extreme chill of standard Cymbidiums in order to make their flower spikes and all tend to flower more than once a year, having no definite flowering season. One of these clones is just 6 in height perfect for windowsill & under-lights growing! We are particularly fond of the green & yellow flowering varieties with either delightfully compact or elegantly tall flower spikes. We ve found that the traditional pale pink-burgundy colored flowers are just too muddy to stand out and make a statement. The clone Tian Cao also has the added charm of VARIEGATED FOLIAGE, meaning it s attractive, even when not in flower! Producing a slightly longer inflorescence than other forms of this species, its many yellow-based flowers are so heavily suffused with red-purple spots as to appear solid red, flowering successively along an 11 inflorescence, usually late winter to early spring. Best grown under shady Phalaenopsis conditions, we ve found this as easy a grower as other forms of Bulb. falcatum with the added punch of its deep burgundy-red color. Readily grows to specimen size! MICRO-MINIATURE! Burr. Sunkissed Buttercup (now Oncostelopsis) (Living Fire x Catatante) Although we don t carry many Oncidium mericlones, this particular one has always been a favorite for its adorable yellow flowers, floriferousness, ready branching habit and tendency to flower more often than others in this genus! Compact growth, compact branching spikes and beautifully round pseudobulbs add to its charm. New flowering growths are just initiating. Its multitude of small golden yellow flowers are charmingly ruffled and add a welcome ray of sunshine to any collection! (3) Vigorous Multigrowth plants!! $ 33 $ 28

PHOTO NAME & NOTES SIZE PRICE Cl. Rebecca Northen Mikkabi (Grace Dunn x rosea) Both Cl. Grace Dunn, the pod parent, and this hybrid are our two most favorite Clowesias! Not only do they stay small while producing a multitude of inflorescences, but they re easy growers, usually flowering in the spring. After they go deciduous, we keep them lightly moist to keep their pseudobulbs plump and to help support their next great flowering. We have found that they do much better for us growing in New Zealand moss than in bark since the moss provides nice even moisture for the best most consistent growth. FRAGRANT! BS (1) $ 38 Cochleanthes amazonica (possible 4N population) (Species sib cross) A great sibbing of two select clones of this species! These have been blooming with larger size, fuller form flowers with amazingly heavy substance, & more distinct & dramatic purple striping on their lips than is typical for this species, leading us to wonder if this might be a 4N population. An easy grower under Phalaenopsis conditions, they will produce several spikes on each maturing growth with each spike bearing 1-2 flowers ~ just when we think a mature growth has finally finished flowering, we find yet another spike forming on it. These are multi-growth husky plants that may still produce even more spikes. As our smaller photo shows, they are quite capable of making a real impact! FRAGRANT! B/F 4 pots $ 38 ONE-OF-A-KIND SPECIES SEEDLINGS!

PHOTO NAME & NOTES SIZE PRICE Dendrochilum uncatum (Syn. formosanum) (FRAGRANT MINIATURE Species) Wonderfully miniature yet capable of putting on quite a show with a multitude of cascading sprays bearing petite ¼ - ½ lime green flowers! Best grown in New Zealand sphagnum moss, kept damp, not wet. Happily grown under Phalaenopsis conditions. The fully mature plant pictured to the left is in just a 4 pot standing a mere 6-8 in height. These little wonders have already flowered once with multiple spikes. SP/F (5) Multigrowth plants with multiple spikes in 4 pots! $ 35 FRAGRANT MINI! Dendrochilum wenzelii Fishing Creek CCM/AOS B/F (3) $ 58 (FRAGRANT MINIATURE Species) Endemic to the Philippines, this is another great miniature Dendrochilum producing multitudes of blazing redorange flowers in the fall as opposed to most clones of this species which flower in the spring! A vigorous grower alongside Phalaenopsis, this clone seems to easily double in size each year. Attractive upright narrow grass-like foliage produces inflorescences just packed with multitudes of flowers. Divisions from our original mother plant! FRAGRANT MINI!!

PHOTO NAME & NOTES SIZE PRICE Epi. Miracle Valley Nodesheka (Crystal Valley x Rose Valley) Great miniature Epidendrum growing no more than 6-10 in height! Generous heads of flowers are produced as each new growth matures & if the plant is kept moist, it can continue to produce additional buds and branches on the inflorescence. Attractively compact rounded leaves add to its charm, even when not in flower. Easily grown under Phalaenopsis conditions, this little wonder gives every collection a great shot of vivid color without taking up any space!! $ 22 FRAGRANT MINI! Fredclarkeara After Dark Sunset Valley Orchids FCC/AOS (Mo. Painted Desert x Ctsm. Donna Wise) Easily grown under Phalaenopsis conditions, this particular clone of Fredclarkeara After Dark produces tawny green flowers, heavily spotted maroon over all! Its heavy substance flowers with a waxy texture lead to a long-lasting display. In 2005 this plant was the recipient of the Merritt W. Huntington Award as the most outstanding plant awarded an FCC/AOS. When granted its FCC, it was vigorously displaying 48 flowers on three pendant inflorescences, all emerging from just one pseudobulb! A great exhibit plant and a stunner when in flower. These plants are now just completing their new growths in preparation for early fall flowering. Of special note: We shifted our exhibit plants of Fredclarkeara into New Zealand moss as an experiment to keep the deciduous growths plump & have noted that its even moisture supply helps keep the older pseudobulbs from desiccating while giving increased vigor to the new growths. 4 pots (3) Large multiple growth plants $ 45

PHOTO NAME & NOTES SIZE PRICE Fredclarkeara After Dark SVO Black Pearl FCC/AOS (Mo. Painted Desert x Ctsm. Donna Wise) Easily grown & flowered under Phal conditions, this particular highly awarded clone of After Dark is so dark it s almost BLACK! Produces cascading spikes of multitudes of waxy long-lasting flowers in late winter, beginning its new pseudobulb growth in early spring. Much easier to grow than either of its parents with no need to withhold water during its leafless stage since the pseudobulbs are still growing & photosynthesizing for future growths ~ we lightly water the surface of their medium all winter & resume normal drenching at the onset of new growth in the spring. In addition, the arrangement of the flowers is perfection as opposed to similar black hybrids where the flowers simply don t open well and arrange themselves on the spike properly. These plants are now just completing their new growths in preparation for early fall flowering. 4 pots (4) Large multiple growth plants $ 48 Two important Plus Factors to this hybrid: It s a vigorous grower ~ and it doesn t shoot its pollen when jarred or moved. We showed our exhibit plant of this clone in three different shows last winter with no loss of pollen despite all the trips to and from! Galeopetalum Starburst Parkside AM/AOS (Galeottia fimbriata x Zygo. Jumpin Jack) We can t say enough about this amazing new hybrid! A great intergeneric Zygopetalum hybrid bearing large rich green flowers, accented with burgundybrown barring and a broad brilliant burgundy-pink waterfall accented lip. An easy-grower alongside Zygo. Advance Australia, under Phalaenopsis conditions, these plants make quite a statement with their dramatically large colorful & delightfully fragrant flowers! AMAZINGLY FRAGRANT! SP/B/F 4 pots $ 42

PHOTO NAME & NOTES SIZE PRICE Habenaria Regnieri (carnea x rhodocheila) A fabulous mating of two great species of Habenaria, many clones of which have been recognized with AOS awards! Its beautiful silver-green spotted pattern on the wavy green leaves make this plant attractive, even when not in flower and its compact growth habit allows it to fit readily into any collection. Large flowers are produced in the fall from the new spring growths bearing stunning salmonpink flowers, creating up to 22 flowers on each inflorescence, the flower size being about 1 ¼. These plants are also benefitting from great hybrid vigor as a result of the mating of two species. Like our comments below on growing Habenaria rhodocheila, we follow the same culture for this little hybrid and it, too, loves growing in New Zealand Moss! Not available for the last two years, we were recently fortunate enough to obtain a few more from Taiwan. MINIATURE! B/F (1) $ 55 Habenaria rhodocheila (Species) We have been amazed at how easy to grow this Habenaria species has been! Even when not in flower, their foliage is beautifully marked. We ve found that if we keep them just slightly moist with a light spritzing, not wet, when they go deciduous, they produce their spring growths readily. Allowing them to dry totally will most likely cause their loss over the winter we know, we used to follow the culture sheets & did just that and they never came back! We ve also discovered that trying to grow them in a bark mix is more than challenging, so we ve switched to growing them in moss. This population has been extremely vigorous & is well worth adding to every collection. Plus, despite our initial doubts, they LOVE growing in the New Zealand moss! We ve been amazed at how really easy Habenarias are to grow & flower just don t follow any of the culture sheets & you ll do great! Being seedlings, not mericlones, there will be a very slight color variation from one seedling to the next. MINIATURE! B/F $ 45

PHOTO NAME & NOTES SIZE PRICE Onc. Alosuka Claire (Memoria Kiyoshi Akatsuka x Aloha Sunshine) If you ve always loved the flowers of Onc. varicosum, Onc. Killer Bees and Onc. Island s Love but found them more difficult to grow, this is the perfect answer! Onc. Alosuka is an easy-togrow miniature bearing the same brilliant golden yellow lip accented with a dramatically contrasting almost-black blotch at its base. The flowers take after its dramatically yellow & chocolateaccented Memoria Kiyoshi Akatusuka parentage with Aloha Sunshine adding ease of growth. This clone can flower twice a year when fully mature, producing multiple gently arching & branching inflorescences from each newly maturing pseudobulb. Unlike Onc. Moon Shadow, its spikes are much more compact, branching freely on gently arching inflorescences. Also, it s black contrast is much darker & more dramatic than that of Onc. Moon Shadow. MINIATURE! B/F (6) $ 33 Onc. (Gomesa) Moon Shadow Tiger Tail AM/AOS (Cytocidium Hornet x Big Bee) We ve always loved the brilliant yellow flowers of Onc. (Gomesa) varicosa, especially with its boldly contrasting deep chocolate petals! However, under our growing conditions that particular species never did well at all. This little hybrid has lots of Onc. varicosa in its breeding background, yet it is so much easier to grow & flower under our Phalaenopsis conditions. Vigorously branching spikes over miniature growths make this clone a sure winner! MINIATURE! $ 28

PHOTO NAME & NOTES SIZE PRICE Pot. Young-Min Orange Golden Satisfaction AM/AOS (Viola Nuggett x Lc. Trick or Treat) This spectacular clone of Pot. Young-Min Orange knocked all the AOS judges out with its amazingly floriferous display at the Taiwan International Orchid Show in 2010 & again this year. It was awarded in 2010 with over 150 flowers and buds borne on 20 inflorescences, a display of vivid fiery orange, capable of producing 7+ flowers per spike when fully mature. Two years later in 2012, when exhibited again in Taiwan at the show, it had virtually doubled in size & since then has quadrupled, being brought in for the most recent show in a wheelbarrow! This vigorous & extremely compact grower can flower twice a year with long-lasting waxy & lightly FRAGRANT flowers, their orange intensifying as the flowers mature. Grows & flowers happily under lower light Phalaenopsis conditions ~ the pleasure of a brightly colored Cattleya without the large plant size! MINI-COMPACT GROWER! MULTIPLE GROWTH PLANT In sheath $ 33 $ 42 Psychopsis Mendenhall Hildos FCC/AOS SP (3) $ 48 (Butterfly x papilio) Producing stately inflorescences of butterfly-like 5 flowers, this hybrid will continue to add buds to each spike it creates, sometimes for as long as seven years! A well-grown plant can produce over 20 inflorescences & create a spectacular display. These plants are spiking for the first time in just 3 pots. They resent being repotted so we always just shift the entire root ball, bark included, to the next larger size & fill in around the perimeter with fresh bark mix. They also don t mind getting a little dry between waterings. An easy, forgiving & showy grower & bloomer, even under lower light Phalaenopsis conditions.

PHOTO NAME & NOTES SIZE PRICE Slc. Li Jiuan Love Nippon (C. Cherry Chip x Slc. Hsinying Catherine) (1) $ 58 Capable of flowering twice a year, this great new compact Cattleya has it all ~ they just finished flowering in April & are in sheath again now! Its white flowers have their petal tips just lightly kissed with the same rich lavender-pink as its showy lip. A great mix combining the breeding heritage of C. Angelwalker, C. intermedia and Slc. Love Sound. Can produce up to 6 flowers on a single inflorescence on a fully mature plant and blooms faithfully on every new growth! FRAGRANT! COMPACT CATTLEYA! Soph. cernua (Micro-Mini Species) Possible 4N (tetraploid) population! An absolutely adorable micro-miniature species from the Cattleya alliance! Easily grown in small spaces under Phalaenopsis conditions, this little species can flower several times a year on multi-growth plants. Ideal for underlights, windowsill & space-challenged growing! MICRO-MINI! BS Husky multigrowth plants $ 42 Tsubotaara Melinda Marie Blue Fairy F (4) $ 38 (Pabanisia Eva s Blue Amazon x Zygonisia Cynosure) A 10 tall miniature member of the Zygopetalum family, with icy-blue flares & an icy-blue lip, the back of the flowers being a solid icy-blue! These plants like to be kept evenly moist and although currently in bark, will be shifted to New Zealand moss once their initial flowering is finished. Capable of flowering up to three times a year on a fully mature plant, these are easy to grow & flower. FRAGRANT!

PHOTO NAME & NOTES SIZE PRICE Zygo. Advance Australia HOF AM/AOS (Titanic x Helen-Ku) We received an AM/AOS on this clone a few years ago & still feel it s the best FRAGRANT Zygo around a very easy and extremely compact grower, much better than most Zygopetalums available today which tend to really spread out & take over your growing space! The waxy green sepals & petals are almost totally covered with chocolate brown blotches, and its broad lip is heavily overlaid with vivid purple right out to the narrow white picotee, a vast improvement over other Zygopetalum hybrids. As first bloomers they produced 3-4 flowers on their first spikes. As each plant continues to mature, expect to see up to two spikes per each new growth bearing up to six flowers on each spike and flowering more than once a year ~ multiple newly emerging growths only add to its delightfully fragrant bouquet! A vigorous grower for this kind of breeding, it thrives when grown in New Zealand moss. Its heavy chocolate barring only varies with the light and temperature conditions (cooler & brighter versus warmer & shadier) when the spikes are forming. The absolute best of all Zygos. for its solid purple lip, rich rich color, full flat segments, delightful fragrance & great compact growth habit! FRAGRANT! B/F (4) 2 spikes! $ 38 GREAT COMPACT GROWER!
