the orchidphile April 2018 PRE-ORDER LIST (203) Address all correspondence & orders to: (Please mention Plant Pre-Order & note the particular show/event or Mail Order in the subject line) This list replaces & supersedes all previous lists. All orders are filled in the order in which they are received and are subject to prior sale. PLEASE NOTE: Prices are listed in US Dollars We ve expanded our collection of miniature Vandaceous, miniature Dendrobiums & divisions of some of our select Paphs ~ all of which grow & flower happily with our Phals. Each genus is put into their own category after our Phal. listings. Most plants are in 2.7 pots as first or second bloomers unless otherwise noted as being fully mature in 4 pots PLEASE NOTE: Stock quantities of 6 or fewer are noted in parens ORDERING INFORMATION FOR OUR MAIL ORDER CLIENTS: In the winter or during inclement weather, shipments may be delayed pending more moderate weather conditions. Shipping is either via FedEx Ground or Air depending on the final destination. We reserve the right to withdraw any offering from sale and to limit quantities. We guarantee all plants to be true to identity to the best of our knowledge. However, since many come in from Taiwan, we have to assume they are properly labeled as to their species or hybrid name. We make no warranty as to the productiveness of any plants sold since everyone s culture conditions vary widely. Although we do our utmost to pack carefully, we are not responsible for damage to buds or flowers due to shipping if buyer specifically requests these plants ~ therefore, risk is assumed by buyer for buds or flowers on plants shipped at this stage Safe arrival of a healthy orchid plant is guaranteed. Packing & Shipping Charges: Based on the total of your order, a minimum of 10% for packing plus the actual FedEx shipping cost will be charged. We use FedEx Ground for all 1-3 day deliveries within our delivery zone since Ground shipping rates are much more reasonable than Air. If heat packs are requested, they will be provided for an additional $4.50. Additional Shipping Note: FedEx charges an extra $3.50 for Home Delivery so many of our clients choose to have their plants delivered to either their office or to a nearby FedEx Ship Center that accepts Ground for Pickup packages ~ those business/fedex locations always get their deliveries much earlier than a Home Delivery. If you want to save the additional charge levied for Home Delivery, please let us know if you have a business address you would like to use, or we can research a FedEx location near you that would accept a Ground package as a Hold for Pickup. SIZE DEFINITIONS: = Previously flowered, fully mature Blooming Size plants F = Currently in flower (single spike unless otherwise noted) B = In bud (single spike unless otherwise noted) SP = In spike, just initiating to medium spike stage (single spike unless otherwise noted) BS = Blooming size (should flower in season) NBS = Near blooming size (approximately 1 year to flowering in season) S = about 2-3 years to flowering PHAL SPECIES: Most of these Phalaenopsis species are from Taiwan & reflect much improved forms & colors, having been sibbed or selfed using very select parents. Species like Phal. bellina, violacea, gigantea and javanica are extremely slow to reach maturity & can be easily lost as small seedlings so we re only offering well-established Near Blooming or Blooming Size plants. As a result of their extra years to reach maturity, the pricing on these plants is higher than is usual for commonly available Phal. species.

Phal. aphrodite subsp. formosana A09001 (4N) (TETRAPLOID FORM of Species) A dynamite sibbing of this favorite of all Phal. species! This population is a tetraploid form, producing more compact leaves and much larger beautifully round flowers with great substance, producing a long-lasting display with a much smaller footprint than is typical for the species. Gracefully cascading spikes make for a stunning display! B/F First bloomers 1-2 spikes $ 38 (Actual photo of this clone) Phal. cornu-cervi fma. alba Peloric (Peloric 3-lip form of Species) A perfect 3-lip clone of the alba form of this popular fragrant species! The result of a clonal shift, these have all been flowered to assure they are true to the mother plant without reverting back to the regular alba form. Beautifully flattened inflorescences will produce long-lasting waxy & full form fragrant yellow-green flowers on & off throughout the year. Cooler temperatures & brighter light in fall/winter produce the lime green segments as in the photo. Summer flowers tend to be more yellow in their sepal color. In addition to producing new spikes each year, previously flowered spikes remain green & continue to add additional buds and branches off & on year round! FRAGRANT! F (2) $ 55

Phal. equestris fma. alba B/F (3) $ 55 (Rare pure alba form of Species) These seedlings are from the same population as a select form of this species which we gave the clonal name Tara s Beauty (pictured on the right)! The flowers are fuller and much longer lasting than is typical for the species which leads us to wonder if it s a tetraploid (4N) population. Great compact leaf spans and readily branching compact spikes make this strain highly desirable. MINIATURE SPECIES ONE-OF-A-KIND PLANTS! DISCLAIMER: These plants just came in bare-root from Taiwan in October, were potted up in NZ moss & as a result, are just now getting fully established. If you re an experienced grower & choose to order one, please be aware of this & the need to get them established under your growing conditions. Phal. japonica (Species - formerly known as Sedirea japonica) A great and easy-growing miniature with delightfully fragrant long-lasting small waxy flowers! These are fully mature plants that are ready to show off with their cascading and wonderfully fragrant spikes, the flowers crisply marked with rich rose-burgundy. From our first batch of this species we brought in a few years ago, we discovered that after cutting back their spring flower spikes, almost every plant was spiking again, so they re capable of flowering more than once a year! When fully mature, this species can put on quite a fragrant show! FRAGRANT MINIATURE ONE-OF-A-KIND SEEDLINGS! BS (2) $ 42 MULTIFLORAL MINIATURES, COMPACT-GROWING BRIGHTLY COLORED NOVELTIES, INTERGENERIC PHAL HYBRIDS & EVEN SOME LARGER-FLOWERING STUNNERS: Again, most of these clones are the result of the excellent Taiwanese breeding programs. Many of the plants were hand-picked from select nurseries over the last several years on our annual trips to Taiwan. PLEASE NOTE: With many of the harlequins & the red or orange novelties, differences in light & temperature at various times of the year will cause some variation to occur in the flower color and/or intensity of their markings. Under warmer temperatures & more shaded conditions in the summer, many red novelty-type hybrids with yellow or orange in their breeding background will flower showing more of those colors. Under cooler temperatures & brighter light in the fall to winter months, the red pigment in the flowers is more strongly expressed resulting in solid to nearly solid red flowers. And those hybrids

with a heavy harlequin influence will show their boldest and most vivid colors when bloomed under cooler temperatures & brighter light during the fall & winter. In addition, many of the Phal. bellina and/or violacea-influenced novelties improve in color intensity and size with fuller form on their 2 nd & 3 rd flowerings, as do the actual species parents. PHOTO NAME & DESCRIPTION SIZE PRICE Phal. Black Ball DSM1128 (Ever-spring King x Salu Princess) Mating a proven harlequin parent with a complex spotted yellow has created this new harlequinized yellow novelty! Phal. Ever-spring King has taken the spotting pattern of Salu Princess & emboldened it to create this amazing novelty flower. As is the case with harlequin breeding, light and temperature will produce a slight variation in the intensity of its color & patterning from one flower or one blooming to the next. It s most dramatic when flowered under cooler winter temperatures with winter s brighter light. Great compact spike habit over compact leaves! NOVELTY HARLEQUIN! F 2 spikes $ 35 Phal. Chia E Yenlin LHB08 (Sogo Yenlin x Formosa Cranberry) A stunning harlequin-influenced multifloral miniature! Its flowers are heavily suffused with harlequin spotting fusing to a dark rich burgundy (darker than our photo shows) covering most of the flowers, leaving just a charming pink picotee as a halo around its segments. This particular hybrid also has very attractive silvery-green foliage as opposed to the traditional dark green leaves of many miniatures. And as first bloomers they re already rewarding us with 2-3 compact spikes! MULTI-FLORAL MINI! SP 2-3 spikes $ 38

Phal. Chia E Yenlin Variegata (Sogo Yenlin x Formosa Cranberry) The same stunning harlequin-influenced multi-floral miniature flowers & growth habit as LHB08! However, this clone bears beautifully variegated foliage that adds that special interest to the plant, even when it s not in flower. DISCLAIMER: We recently hand-carried these, bare-root, back from Taiwan, have potted them up in NZ moss & as a result, they are just getting established. If you re an experienced grower & choose to order one, please be aware of this & the need to get them properly established under your particular growing conditions. VARIEGATED MULTI-FLORAL MINI! (BS) $ 55 Phal. Chiada Hebe AAM1023A $ 22 (I-Hsin Sesame x I-Hsin Canary) A unique new color form of this great multi-floral mini! Quite unlike what we expected, this clone has produced wonderfully round 2 creamy white, heavy substance, flowers marked with fine spotting on their lateral sepals, reminiscent of a larger rounder Phal. stuartiana. Their heavy substance comes from their novelty harlequin-influenced parents, leading to a long-lasting display, with their amazing floriferousness an added and pleasant surprise. Great upright leaf habit & compact vigorously branching spikes are in perfect proportion to each other. Great for limited space or under-lights culture. Just about as charming as a mini Phal can be! MULTI-FLORAL MINI!

Phal. Chienlung Black Parrot Mericlone (Penang Girl x Black Eagle) Phal. Black Eagle, the pollen parent, is a near primary hybrid showing the heavy influence of Phal. violacea & lueddemanniana coming from both of its parents with the added touch of Phal. venosa. Mated to Phal. Penang Girl, a primary hybrid of Phal. violacea & venosa, has created a fragrant waxy novelty with a compact spike habit. Its spotting pattern results from the Phal. lueddemanniana heritage with its yellow background due to Penang Girl. Beautifully fragrant, even when not in direct daylight. Although these were not the clone we had been led to believe we were getting, it has been one of our best sellers for its amazing fragrance alone! FRAGRANT WAXY NOVELTY! F 1-2 spikes $ 35 Phal. Chienlung Cute Lobi Mericlone (Liu s Cute Angel x lobbii) Finally, an easy-to-grow primary hybrid of Phal. lobbii that flowers, giving us even more flowers per spike, the flowers being exactly like that charming species! For many, Phal. lobbii is one of the more difficult species to grow so we ve been looking for a primary that produces flowers like the species but is much easier to grow & flower. This little cutie flowers on compact spikes over an equally compact leaf span, giving us, on its first flowering, 4-5 flowers per spike. As these grow up we expect multiple spikes on extremely compact plants. DISCLAIMER: We recently hand-carried these, bare-root, back from Taiwan, have potted them up in NZ moss & as a result, they are just getting established. If you re an experienced grower & choose to order one, please be aware of this & the need to get them properly established under your particular growing conditions. SP/B (2) $ 65 MICRO-MINIATURE!

Phal. Formosa Dream M (amabilis x lobbii) $ 48 An adorable micro-miniature with a small leaf span & charming compact spikes of small white flowers accented by an orange lobbii-influenced lip! When Phal. Formosa Dream was originally registered, Phal. aphrodite and Phal. parishii had not been separately identified so this name could have been registered by the hybridizer using amabilis or aphrodite, and lobbii or parishii. As a result, the hybrid name applies to any combination of these parents. However, from the full flower form & the lip shape, we suspect the cross is actually Phal. aphrodite x Phal. parishii. Whatever the parentage, it s hybrid name remains the same. And it s a great easy-to-grow micro-mini that will fit easily into any collection and thrives under lower Phalaenopsis light! Last of our stock MICRO MINI! Phal. Fuller s Gold Stripes 858 The very best clone of this multi-floral miniature! Unlike the other commonly available clones of this same hybrid, this particular clone produces extremely round well-balanced flowers on very compact branching spikes its striping and red lip are also much more vivid and well-defined than other clones of the same its presentation is beautifully set off by a central white flush while its flower size takes after the multi-mini parent. If we could only grow one clone of Fuller s Gold Stripes, this would be it! MULTI-FLORAL MINI! B/F 2 spikes (2) $ 33

Phal. Fuller s Gold Stripes 858 Peloric Form B/F 2 spikes $ 38 One of those happy clonal shifts from a mericlone population, this Peloric form of Phal. Fuller s Gold Stripes 858 is full & flat ~ just what we love when a peloric pops up! Same great color and striping, same great compact spikes, but with the added flair of wonderfully ruffled petals. Only 1 available MULTI-FLORAL MINI! Phal. Gan Lin Black Diamond Montclair AM/AOS $ 42 (Sogo Vivien x I-Hsin Chocolate) A fabulous new multi-floral midi (5.7cm) harlequin that is hard to beat! It was just awarded an AM/AOS by the American Orchid Society for its presentation of beautifully formed and intensely colored flowers. Although its flowers are about 2 in size, its compact leaf span is only about 8 with the flowers displayed on a wonderfully compact spike. Its pod parent, Sogo Vivien, keeps the leaf span small while its pollen parent, I-Hsin Chocolate, brings layer upon layer of rich dark harlequin color to its heavy substance flowers. Ideal for under-lights and space-challenged growing! Phal. Gan Lin Royal-Yellow P.T. (Sogo Cake x Brother Sara Gold) Phal. Sogo Cake is a fabulous parent resulting from a cross of Brother Lawrence with Brother Sara Gold! With the extra infusion of Brother Sara Gold as the pollen parent, the result has been increased color intensity and a longerlasting display than its parentage. Compact spikes with an increased flower count complete this great new waxyflowering hybrid. We forgot to check the mother plant in Taiwan to see if it s fragrant but we suspect it is due to its parentage. A great new hybrid in sunset tone breeding! B/F (6) 2 spikes! $ 38

Phal. Green Earth YO54 (Tarragone x Orchid World) Yes, it s really green! Large soft green flowers are beautifully shingled on strong cascading inflorescences, the flowers taking after the classic white Tarragone parent at 4 in size. Phal. Orchid World has added substance and green to the flower with Phal. Tarragone dominating for its classic shape, presentation, spike height & floriferousness. A great new clone from cutting-edge breeding of a classic-type Phal. at its best! F 4 pot $ 55 Phal. Haur Jih Fancy Taida (Chingruey s Blood-red x Chingruey s Fancy) Outrageously blood-red waxy flowers with fabulous full form and cardboardlike substance are produced on compact spikes over equally compact leaves! Older plants of this clone exhibit an amazing flower count for a waxy novelty hybrid. Our first bloomers were in just 2.7 pots, producing up to four 2 ¾ flowers per spike, with beautiful thick round leaves. If the spikes remain green, they can continue to produce additional buds plus add a new spike or two. Definitely Award Quality! B/F (3) We ve obtained just a few more of this clone from Taiwan! $ 75 TAIDA NURSERY, TAIWAN FRAGRANT WAXY NOVELTY

Phal. Hwu-Ann Golden Taida Honey $ 35 (Sogo Pride x Tying Shin Spring) A sensational mating of two of Tying Shin s best waxy yellow novelty hybrids! As first bloomers in just 2.7 pots, they were already producing 5+ buds on compact spikes (sometimes 2 spikes) over equally compact leaf spans. The mother plant we saw at the nursery was fully mature in a 4 pot with two branching spikes of long-lasting flowers. This little hybrid is a great step forward from Phal. Sogo Golden, one of our alltime favorites! (PS: We forgot to smell the flowers so can t tell you if they took on the fragrance of the parents or not ~ but our guess is that they did.) TAIDA NURSERY, TAIWAN WAXY NOVELTY Phal. (Jennifer Palermo x KS Happy Eagle) Mericlone Absolutely loaded with the fragrant species of Phal. violacea, lueddemanniana and venosa, this hybrid also brings in the influence of the twotone Phal. speciosa (tetraspis) to create an interesting color pattern. With the famous & proven breeder, Phal. Dragon Tree Eagle, in its immediate background, it produces beautifully compact spikes over a compact leaf span. NBS (3) $ 48 DISCLAIMER: These plants just came in bare-root from Taiwan in October, were potted up in NZ moss & as a result, are just now getting established. If you re an experienced grower & choose to order one, please be aware of this & the need to get them properly established under your particular growing conditions. FRAGRANT! WAXY MULTI-FLORAL MINI

Jia Ho Summer Love Little Pixie HCC/AOS (Taisuco Micky x bellina) $ 33 Emboldened with mega-intensified dark splashing/flaring from its harlequininfluenced multi-floral mini pod parent, Phal. Taisuco Micky, this new mini carries the super thick waxy flower substance, rich color & light fragrance from its pollen parent, Phal. bellina! Thick & super compact leaves allow it to be tucked easily into any collection. A real eye-catcher which can flower more than once a year & can also continue to form buds on previously flowered spikes in addition to producing new! LIGHTLY FRAGRANT! WAXY MULTI-FLORAL MINI Phal. K S Sweet Diamond A08118 (Ching Ann Diamond x Sogo Golden) A great mating of a multi-floral miniature with a waxy novelty & a great new direction in this line of breeding! Ching Ann Diamond, a rich pink multi-floral, brings floriferousness to this hybrid while Sogo Golden, a waxy yellow novelty flower, adds its heavy substance, also giving the flowers their beautiful sunset/salmon color. As with many of this type of breeding, cooler temperatures & brighter light produce an even more intense flower color. A sensational & extremely long-lasting miniature display with glowing color! MULTI-FLORAL MINI SP/B/F 2 spikes $ 33-38

Phal. Ld s Bear Queen Mericlone (bellina x Dragon Tree Eagle) Phal. Ld s Bear Queen has been a sensational parent in novelty breeding, bringing the roundness & central blush of Phal. bellina to its Phal. violacea, lueddemanniana and venosa background from Dragon Tree Eagle. Compact spikes of fragrant & beautifully colored flowers are the result. As usual with this kind of breeding, previously flowered spikes can remain green & continue to add buds the following season in addition to producing additional spikes. DISCLAIMER: These plants just came in bare-root from Taiwan in October, were potted up in NZ moss & as a result, are just now getting established. If you re an experienced grower & choose to order one, please be aware of this & the need to get them properly established under your particular growing conditions. FRAGRANT MINI! NBS (4) $ 85 Phal. LD Bellina Eagle (mericlone) (Mituo Kaiulani Eagle x bellina) Fabulous novelty hybrid bringing together Phal. violacea, lueddemanniana, venosa, amboinensis & bellina. The central flush from Phal. bellina has been further suffused & enhanced due the species parentage of Phal. Mituo Kaiulani Eagle, producing compact flower spikes of fragrant waxy flowers. 13 Phal. Little One (hygrochila x japonica) A great little hybrid that was originally a cross of two miniature Vandaceous species, the parents of which have since been re-classified way too many times! Originally it was a cross of Vandopsis parishii (now Phal. hygrochila) with Sedirea japonica (now Phal. japonica). Reclassifications aside, these plants produce beautifully spotted small waxy yellow flowers over very compact foliage. As a hybrid population, there will be a slight variation from one plant to another but all have flowered with the same wonderfully spotted flowers & lips. Robust & easy growers! FRAGRANT MINI! DISCLAIMER: These plants just came in bare-root from Taiwan a few months ago, were potted up in NZ moss & as a result, are just now getting fully established. MINI-MINI! SP (6) 2 spikes $ 33 Phal. Meidarland Cherry MD (Tying Shin Tarzan x Nobby s Amy) A stunning non-fading yellow with a central white heart, accented by a bright orange lip! Aside from the impact of its color seen from across a large greenhouse in Taiwan, we really loved its wonderfully compact leaf span and spike height ~ all in perfect proportion to each other. Phal. Nobby s Amy gives this novelty hybrid a better more floriferous display while the pod parent, Tying Shin Tarzan, brings its brilliant color and heavy substance to the clone. DISCLAIMER: We just removed these near blooming size plants from their flask & have potted them up in NZ moss. As a result, they are not yet established. 15 Phal. Miki Galaxy 69 (Miki Queen x Chian Xen Pearl) This modern red harlequin hybrid produces huge, almost 5, wonderfully flat flowers on gracefully cascading inflorescences, each flower perfectly presented on the spike for the ultimate display! Recipient of a Silver Medal from TOGA, it also won the Best Phalaenopsis honor at the 2017 Japan Grand Prix International Orchid Show. Its harlequin breeding background has resulted in a velvety dark harlequin suffusion which almost totally covers the flowers, revealing just a fine picotee around all its segments. One of the very best from this line of breeding for flower size, presentation & its eye-popping wow factor! Phal. Mituo Gelb Eagle (Mericlone) (Zheng Min Muscadine x LD s Bear King) Very close to being a solid red, this hybrid is heavily suffused with the red barring from its Phal. amboinensis background, totally covering its yellow base color, thanks to the influence of Phal. bellina & violacea in both of its parents. Fragrant long-lasting waxy flowers are produced on its compact spikes. Capable of flowering again on spikes that remain green, this kind of breeding will also continue to produce additional new spikes. DISCLAIMER: These plants just came in bare-root from Taiwan in October, were potted up in NZ moss & as a result, are just now getting established. 16 Phal. Natsume s Berry Little Treasure HCC/AOS $ 95 (NOTE: this was just formally registered with the RHS under the above name rather than as Phal. Ebony Sweet Gem as previously expected) (Yu Pin Natsume x Fuller s Berry Another clone using the great miniature harlequin parent, Fuller s Berry! Combined with Yu Pin Natsume, it has created cardboard-substance flowers that are almost black & are FRAGRANT our photo, shot at the show with a flash, doesn t begin to capture how really almost black these flowers are (due to the flash reflecting back to the camera). Mated with Yu Pin Natsume, another heavily marked harlequin mini, its rich dark color is the result of layer upon layer of harlequin suffusion coming from both parents, producing a thick flower with heavy color pigment and no hint of any other color. These plants have already flowered once, producing 2 branching spikes in just a 2.7 pot and will continue to produce flowers on previously bloomed spikes in addition to creating new a couple which were cut back just 2 months ago are already spiking again. A cutting-edge almost black multi-floral mini! FRAGRANT! BS $ 75 MULTI-FLORAL WAXY MINI! OX NURSERY, TAIWAN Phal. OX Black Tea OX1707 AM/AOS (2) $ 35 (Coral Lake x OX Spot Queen) When granted its 86 point AM/AOS at the Taiwan International Orchid Show, this spectacular clone was bearing 12 brilliantly striped harlequin-emboldened flowers on one cascading inflorescence! Its burgundy spotting coalesced along its bold stripes as a result of its harlequin parent, softening towards its edges with a fine white picotee. Flower size was almost 4 & it presented a dramatically vivid result combining the best of both parents. Last of our stock OX NURSERY, TAIWAN

Phal. OX Cheese OX1658 (OX Little King x Fuller s Cheese) When we visited OX Nursery in Taiwan, we saw a bench run of this particular harlequin multi-floral miniature which immediately drew our eyes! Multitudes of 4.5cm (1.75 ) heavy substance flowers cascaded from wonderfully compact spikes, its velvety blackened-burgundy harlequin intensity nothing short of outstanding. One of the absolute best of all multi-floral miniature harlequins we have ever seen! (We were given a new & different name for this clone in Taiwan this year but it appears they made a mistake ~ it actually is OX Cheese!) OX NURSERY, TAIWAN (2) Last of our stock $ 42 Phal. OX Diamond OX1719 (Brother Sara Gold x Haur Jin Diamond) Another clone to be released by OX Nurseries ~ the name was just shared with us on our recent trip to Taiwan! Exciting yellow 2 ½ flowers dramatically accented with dark burgundy harlequin spotting create a unique harlequin outline on all their segments. And their heavier substance leads to a longer-lasting display. Intensity of harlequin patterning will vary with light & temperature during bud formation ~ the photo shows the harlequin marks during warmer & more shaded conditions. A fabulous surprise to see how the harlequin patterning, especially on the petals, seems to outline the shape of the flower. A real eyecatcher! OX NURSERY, TAIWAN Last of our stock $ 48

Phal. OX Golden Song OX1634 (OX Surf Song x Sunrise Star) A great new mini from one of our most favorite miniature waxy yellow parents, giving a unique & surprising result! Its central flush of salmon-orange comes from Surf Song, known for its beautiful art shade flowers. The yellow background color and smaller 6.2cm (2.5 ) flower size is thanks to the pollen parent, Sunrise Star, one of our favorite waxy minis. While Surf Song rounded out the flowers of Sunrise Star beautifully, Sunrise Star gave it the smaller size heavier substance flowers & a branching compact flowering & growth habit. A wonderful display over compact leaves of something totally different in cutting-edge miniature yellow novelty breeding! (We were given a new & different name for this clone in Taiwan this year but it appears they made a mistake ~ it actually is OX Golden Song!) OX NURSERY, TAIWAN Dtps. OX Happy Girl OX 1592 (OX X-Ray x OX Little King) A select clone, for its rich color intensity, of this great new harlequin multi-floral mini! The flowers on this clone are around 2 ½ in size and will most likely not be much larger once the plants are fully mature. The harlequin spotting pattern is actually a rich blackenedburgundy and is quite a dramatic contrast against the pink and white background of the flower. In just 2.7 pots, our first order of these had already flowered once & just 4 months later were already spiking again. Will flower easily twice a year! BOLD MINI HARLEQUIN! OX NURSERY, TAIWAN B/F F 2 branching spikes $ 22 $ 28 $ 45

Fully round flat 8.3cm white flowers are beautifully finished with a broad flat big lip heavily flushed with rich pink, edged with a charming white picotee. Gracefully cascading spikes present each flower perfectly spaced for the ultimate impact. 20 Phal. OX Prince OX1482 AM/AOS (OX Black Jack x Leopard Prince) When awarded its AM/AOS, this particular clone was displayed with 8 wonderfully flat flowers on a naturally cascading inflorescence, each flower being 4 in size! Soft pink flowers are heavily overlaid with a rosy-purple & stable harlequin-fused influence, all flowers being identical in their harlequin patterning. Firm substance flowers due to the strong harlequin breeding background ~ a dramatic & long-lasting display for a larger-flowering hybrid! OX NURSERY, TAIWAN B/F (2) 2 spikes 4 pots $ 48 Phal. OX Sunkist OX1637 AM/AOS SP/B (2) $ 38 (Surf Song x Yu Pin Fireworks) Seen & awarded at the 2013 TIOS Show in Taiwan, this clone had everything going for it so we ordered as many as we could! Added to the amazing sunset color from Surf Song comes the BIG LIP from Yu Pin Fireworks, making for an arresting display of a tri-petal flower, around 3 in size. What we really liked about this particular clone was the flatness of the lip as opposed to many big lip clones we ve seen that are showing a severely cupped lip this one gives the appearance of three petals on a nice flat flower. BIG LIP HYBRID! OX NURSERY, TAIWAN

Phal. OX1766 (Parentage pending) A beautiful new BIG LIP hybrid that we just found at OX Nursery! Since they haven t registered its name yet, we won t have that information until it s approved by the RHS at which time we will post it on our Facebook page. What we like about this particular hybrid is the nice flat broad lip and the soft cherry blossom color of its 8.7cm flowers ~ not to mention its beautiful round form with the petals almost touching. The newest addition to our BIG LIP Collection! BIG LIP HYBRID! OX NURSERY, TAIWAN BS (These just arrived, in their moss pots, & are due to initiate their spikes soon in response to having been container shipped from Taiwan) $ 38 Phal. Pure Moon Green Pixie (Timothy Christopher x Brother Lawrence) Creating a virtual cloud of soft yellowgreen, this multi-floral mini is an amazingly vigorous grower, readily producing branching spikes, even on first bloomers! We also like the roundness of its flowers as opposed to the starry shape which is all too common on other yellow multi-floral miniatures. Its pollen parent, Brother Lawrence, adds substance to the flowers helping to provide a longer-lasting display. And the pod parent, Timothy Christopher, produces its amazing floriferousness. As pictured on the top left from the Taiwan Show, it s capable of producing basal keikis from a fully mature mother plant which, when all flower at the same time, produce a spectacular display! MULTI-FLORAL MINI B/F (5) 2-3 spikes $ 35-38

Phal. Sogo Lawrence Taida AM/AOS (Brother Peterstar x Brother Sara Gold) We were just granted a well-deserved AM/AOS for this particular clone of Sogo Lawrence at a recent Rochester Orchid Show! Waxy & lightly FRAGRANT medium size novelty flowers are produced on branching spikes on fully mature plants (rare for novelty breeding) this particular clone appears much more RED, due to the heavy overlay of red, than our photo and many other clones of the same hybrid. Like many from this kind of breeding, it will continue to form additional buds on its spike after all the initial flowers have opened. With attractively round leaves, in perfect proportion to the spikes, this hybrid is a much easier grower than the difficult Hilo Lip, thanks to the pollen parent s influence ~ yet it maintains that beautiful pristine white lip in contrast to the rich pink flower. And, as a bonus, its flowers last longer than most pink-flowered Phals. With its white lip, it just seems to stand out from anywhere! (2) $ 22 TAIDA NURSERY, TAIWAN Phal. ONE-OF-A-KIND PLANTS FIRST BLOOM ONE-OF-A-KIND NOVELTY SEEDLINGS (all are in 2.7 pots): All of our novelty or select seedlings flowered for the first time for us this past summer ~ and with Phal. bellina in the background of many, as first bloomers they will initially produce only 1-3 flowers on their first spikes. This particular type of breeding is extremely slow to grow to flowering maturity, unlike many other Phalaenopsis, due to the heavy influence of waxy Phal species in its background. For this line of breeding we leave any still-green spikes on the plants since they will most likely add more buds to these spikes in addition to producing new spikes at their next flowering. Some people choose to remove the initial spikes & give the energy back to the plant. However, we ve never noticed (with this line of novelty-type breeding) that it doesn t make much, if any, difference in the overall vigor of the plant since their breeding background carries the tendency to retain older spikes. Also, with this kind of breeding, flower form, color and size improve enormously with their 2 nd & 3 rd flowerings. But ~ the real bonus to owning a One-of-a-Kind plant is that you can give it your own clonal name! PHOTO NAME & NOTES SIZE PRICE

FRAGRANT MINIATURE CHINESE CYMBIDIUMS: All the species listed below grow & flower easily WITH our Phals under the same light & WARMER temperature conditions since they are miniature growing Chinese species, requiring much lower light, less space & will grow under warmer temperatures than their larger cousins ~ they also don t require the extreme chill of standard Cymbidiums in order to make their flower spikes and all tend to flower more than once a year, having no definite flowering season. One of these clones is just 6 in height perfect for windowsill & under-lights growing! We are particularly fond of the green & yellow flowering varieties with either delightfully compact or elegantly tall flower spikes. We ve found that the traditional pale pink-burgundy colored flowers are just too muddy to stand out and make a statement. The clone Tian Cao also has the added charm of VARIEGATED FOLIAGE, meaning it s attractive, even when not in flower! DIVISIONS FROM OUR AWARDED MOTHER PLANT F (2) Multigrowth plants getting ready to produce their spring spikes! $ 28 Bulb. falcatum fma. flaviforum (MICRO-MINI Species) Another color form of this adorable and floriferous Bulbophyllum! An easygrower, even under lower light Phalaenopsis conditions, this plant seems to grow like a weed, producing early-late spring spikes of micro-miniature flowers on long cascading flattened inflorescences, with this particular color form producing flowers with more yellow than is typical for the common form. Perfect for windowsill or under-lights growing. MICRO-MINIATURE! F Multigrowth plants getting ready to produce their spring spikes! $ 35

PHOTO NAME & NOTES SIZE PRICE Bulb. falcatum fma. velutina Gold Country CCE/AOS (RARE COLOR FORM of MICRO-MINI Species) Endemic to Ghana & the Ivory Coast, this hot to warm growing species is the more rare DEEP RICH BURGUNDY-RED color form of this easy-growing species! Producing a slightly longer inflorescence than other forms of this species, its many yellow-based flowers are so heavily suffused with red-purple spots as to appear solid red, flowering successively along an 11 inflorescence, usually late winter to early spring. Best grown under shady Phalaenopsis conditions, we ve found this as easy a grower as other forms of Bulb. falcatum with the added punch of its deep burgundy-red color. Readily grows to specimen size! MICRO-MINIATURE! DIVISIONS FROM OUR AWARDED MOTHER PLANT Dendrochilum uncatum (Syn. formosanum) (FRAGRANT MINIATURE Species) Wonderfully miniature yet capable of putting on quite a show with a multitude of cascading sprays bearing petite ¼ - ½ lime green flowers! Best grown in New Zealand sphagnum moss, kept damp, not wet. Happily grown under Phalaenopsis conditions. The fully mature plant pictured to the left is in just a 4 pot standing a mere 6-8 in height. These little wonders have already flowered once with multiple spikes & can flower both fall and spring, depending on newly maturing growths. FRAGRANT MINI! F (3) Multigrowth plants getting ready to produce their spring spikes!! (5) Each plant already has flowered with 6-8 spikes! Multigrowth plants! $ 38 $ 28 ONE-OF-A-KIND SPECIES SEEDLINGS

PHOTO NAME & NOTES SIZE PRICE Dendrochilum wenzelii Fishing Creek CCM/AOS NOTE: FALL FLOWERING FORM (FRAGRANT MINIATURE Species) Endemic to the Philippines, this is another great miniature Dendrochilum producing multitudes of blazing red-orange flowers in the fall as opposed to most clones of this species which flower in the spring! A vigorous grower alongside Phalaenopsis, this clone seems to easily double in size each year. Attractive upright narrow grass-like foliage produces inflorescences just packed with multitudes of flowers. Divisions from our original mother plant! FRAGRANT MINI! DIVISIONS FROM OUR AWARDED MOTHER PLANT (3)! $ 42 Fredclarkeara After Dark Sunset Valley Orchids FCC/AOS (Mo. Painted Desert x Ctsm. Donna Wise) Easily grown under Phalaenopsis conditions, this particular clone of Fredclarkeara After Dark produces tawny green flowers, heavily spotted maroon over all! Its heavy substance flowers with a waxy texture lead to a long-lasting display. In 2005 this plant was the recipient of the Merritt W. Huntington Award as the most outstanding plant awarded an FCC/AOS. When granted its FCC, it was vigorously displaying 48 flowers on three pendant inflorescences, all emerging from just one pseudobulb! A great exhibit plant and a stunner when in flower. These plants are now just completing their new growths in preparation for early fall flowering. Of special note: We shifted our exhibit plants of Fredclarkeara into New Zealand moss as an experiment to keep the deciduous growths plump & have noted that its even moisture supply helps keep the older pseudobulbs from desiccating while giving increased vigor to the new growths. 4 pots (3) Large multiple growth plants $ 45

PHOTO NAME & NOTES SIZE PRICE Galeopetalum Starburst Parkside AM/AOS (Galeottia fimbriata x Zygo. Jumpin Jack) We can t say enough about this amazing new hybrid! A great intergeneric Zygopetalum hybrid bearing large rich waxy GREEN flowers, accented with burgundy-brown barring and a broad brilliant burgundy-pink waterfall patterned lip. An easy-grower alongside Zygo. Advance Australia, under Phalaenopsis conditions, these plants make quite a statement with their dramatically large, colorful & delightfully fragrant flowers! AMAZINGLY FRAGRANT! B/F 2 spikes 4 pots $ 45 Habenaria carnea ( Mem. Ruffles AM/AOS x outcross) (Species) Endemic to Thailand, this charming soft pink to salmon Habenaria also has beautifully spotted leaves, adding to its charm even when not in flower! Blooming begins in late summer with its terminal upright inflorescence carrying up to 15 wide-lip flowers per leafed-out corm or tuber. Flower size can reach up to 2 on a fully mature growth making it quite showy. A warm grower under Phalaenopsis conditions, follow our culture suggestions (below) for this species & you ll be amazed how easy they are to grow & flower! MICRO-MINIATURE! These plants are now just beginning to come out of their winter dormancy & poking up their new flowering growth BRAND! $ 55

PHOTO NAME & NOTES SIZE PRICE Habenaria erichmichaelii (Species) One of the earliest to flower of Habenaria species, this miniature is often confused with Habenaria rhodocheila, yet is distinctly different in its flowers and foliage! This species has a short stature bearing leaves with silvery-white spots. Its short erect 6 spike can carry 2-6 silvery-pink glowing flowers. Easily grown & flowered with Phalaenopsis, we ve found they do extremely well grown in New Zealand moss by following the same culture as for Regnieri and rhodocheila (see below). A new species just recently discovered, endemic to China, Thailand and Malaysia! MICRO-MINIATURE! These plants are now just beginning to come out of their winter dormancy & poking up their new flowering growth $ 65 Habenaria Regnieri (carnea x rhodocheila) A fabulous mating of two great species of Habenaria, many clones of which have been recognized with AOS awards! Its beautiful silver-green spotted pattern on the wavy green leaves make this plant attractive, even when not in flower and its compact growth habit allows it to fit readily into any collection. Large flowers are produced in the fall from the new spring growths bearing stunning salmon-pink flowers, creating up to 22 flowers on each inflorescence, the flower size being about 1 ¼. These plants are also benefitting from great hybrid vigor as a result of the mating of two species. Like our comments below on growing Habenaria rhodocheila, we follow the same culture for this little hybrid and it, too, loves growing in New Zealand Moss! Not available for the last two years, we were recently fortunate enough to obtain a few more from Taiwan. MINIATURE! These plants are now just beginning to come out of their winter dormancy & poking up their new flowering growth $ 65

PHOTO NAME & NOTES SIZE PRICE Habenaria rhodocheila (Species) We have been amazed at how easy to grow this Habenaria species has been! Even when not in flower, their foliage is beautifully marked. We ve found that if we keep them just slightly moist with a light spritzing, not wet, when they go deciduous, they produce their spring growths readily. Allowing them to dry totally will most likely cause their loss over the winter we know, we used to follow the culture sheets & did just that and they never came back! We ve also discovered that trying to grow them in a bark mix is more than challenging, so we ve switched to growing them in moss. This population has been extremely vigorous & is well worth adding to every collection. Plus, despite our initial doubts, they LOVE growing in the New Zealand moss! We ve been amazed at how really easy Habenarias are to grow & flower just don t follow any of the culture sheets & you ll do great! Being seedlings, not mericlones, there will be a very slight color variation from one seedling to the next. MINIATURE! These plants are now just beginning to come out of their winter dormancy & poking up their new flowering growth $ 45 Habenaria xanthocheila (Species) Another great Habenaria species bearing glowing bright yellow flowers! These are small growing terrestrials with coral-like roots. In Malaysia they are found growing exposed on granite boulders. Produces beautiful erect inflorescences earlier than many other Habenaria species. Also, unlike other Habenarias, this species appears to have little serrations on its flower segments which add to its charm. MINIATURE! (3) These plants are now just beginning to come out of their winter dormancy & poking up their new flowering growth $ 95 BRAND!

PHOTO NAME & NOTES SIZE PRICE Onc. Hilda Plumtree Purple Wings B/F (6) $ 38 (Tiger Butter x Remembrance) Capable of producing multitudes of orange-yellow flowers with a contrasting yellow lip on readily branching spikes, Onc. Hilda Plumtree has the added advantage of having heavier substance waxy flowers than is typical for Oncidiums. This translates into a bountiful and glowing display that can last for weeks! Onc. (Gomesa) Moon Shadow Tiger Tail AM/AOS (Cytocidium Hornet x Big Bee) We ve always loved the brilliant yellow flowers of Onc. (Gomesa) varicosa, especially with its boldly contrasting deep chocolate petals! However, under our growing conditions that particular species never did well at all. This little hybrid has lots of Onc. varicosa in its breeding background, yet it is so much easier to grow & flower under our Phalaenopsis conditions. Vigorously branching spikes over miniature growths make this clone a sure winner! MINIATURE! (2) $ 28

PHOTO NAME & NOTES SIZE PRICE Propetalum La Jolla Delight Hilo Orchid Farm AM/AOS (Promenaea stapelioides x Zygo. Kiwi Dusk) JUST AWARDED! BS $ 38 Our awarded plant ~ the flower is so glossy that the flash is reflecting back! Sepals & petals have a green base but are so heavily overlaid with dark burgundy that they appear solid in color. We just had our plant of this clone awarded an AM/AOS at the MontrealExpo Show this March! An enormous improvement over prior makes of this hybrid, due in large part to the dark & heavily suffused clones of its parents. These plants will grow happily under medium to bright light, right next to Phalaenopsis, and their waxy flowers can last for weeks. If their light green leaves start showing a bit of yellow, that s an indication that they re getting their maximum sunlight. They will grow equally well under intermediate temperatures although we grow them just a bit warmer with our Phalaenopsis. Keep moist to help maintain their plump pseudobulbs but do not allow the medium to become soggy. FRAGRANT MINIATURE! Psychopsis Mendenhall Hildos FCC/AOS (Butterfly x papilio) Producing stately inflorescences of butterfly-like 5 flowers, this hybrid will continue to add buds to each spike it creates, sometimes for as long as seven years! A well-grown plant can produce over 20 inflorescences & create a spectacular display. These plants will easily spike for the first time in just 3 pots. They resent being repotted so we always just shift the entire root ball, bark included, to the next larger size & fill in around the perimeter with fresh bark mix. They also don t mind getting a little dry between waterings. An easy, forgiving & showy grower & bloomer, even under lower light Phalaenopsis conditions. SP Multiple growth large plant BS Multiple growth large plants (4) $ 48 $ 42

PHOTO NAME & NOTES SIZE PRICE Tsubotaara Melinda Marie Blue Fairy F (6) $ 38 (Pabanisia Eva s Blue Amazon x Zygonisia Cynosure) A 10 tall miniature member of the Zygopetalum family, with icy-blue flares & an icy-blue lip, the back of the flowers being a solid icy-blue! These plants like to be kept evenly moist & as a result, seem to prefer being grown in New Zealand moss. Long-lasting flowers & capable of flowering up to three times a year on a fully mature plant, these are amazingly easy to grow & flower. FRAGRANT! Wilsonara Firecat Harmony (Onc. Catatante x California Fire) Truly brilliant heavy substance orangered flowers, accented with golden yellow lips, are produced in multitudes on gracefully arching compact spikes! When fully mature each new growth can produce multiple spikes creating a fiery display! B/F (6) $ 38
