15 Some final remarks 1. The necessity of combining quanjtajve and qualitajve approaches to iden%fy and study cultural scenes (from a range of sources) 2. There is an overlap between arjsts workplaces, cultural assets, actors and networks of urban acjvism, specially in Lavapiés or Malasaña. Some of the most vibrant areas of Madrid 3. Case studies follow different historical pathways. Malasaña connects more clearly with the cultural legacy of the s. More recent in Lavapiés (agrac%on of ar%sts and ac%vists) 4. Both neighbourhoods have been targeted by revitalizajon strategies of Madrid City Council. And more recent by touris%c plans 5. Future research steps: understanding the contribu%on of ar%sts in transforming urban social rela%ons in Malasaña and Lavapiés. and the interrelated effects between ar%sts & urban ac%vism, tourism and consumerism
