A machine-tool for working any material which answers to a description in heading No.. and at the same time to a description in heading No..,.,.,.,.,. or. is to be classified in heading No.... Heading No.. applies only to machine-tools for working metal, other than lathes (exclding lathes, inclding trning centres), which can carry ot different types of machining operations either: (a). by atomatic tool change from a magazine or the like in conformity with a machining programme (machining centres); (b). by the atomatic se, simltaneosly or seqentially, of different nit heads working on a fixed position workpiece (nit constrction machines, single station), or (c). by the atomatic transfer of the workpiece to different nit heads (mlti-station transfer machines).. (A). For the prposes of heading No.., the expression "atomatic data processing machines" means: (i). Storing the processing program or programs and at least the data immediately necessary for the exection of the program; (ii). being ly programmed in accordance with the reqirements of the ser; (iii). performing arithmetical comptations specified by the ser; and, (iv). execting, withot hman intervention, a processing program which reqires them to modify their exection, by logical decision dring the processing rn; (B). However, keyboards, X-Y co-ordinate inpt devices and disk storage nits which satisfy the conditions of paragraphs () (ii) and () (iii) above, are in all cases to be classified as nits of heading.

Machines incorporating or working conjnction with an atomatic data processing machines and performing a specific fnction other than data processing are to be classified in headings appropriate to the respective fnction or, failing that, in residal headings. Heading No.. applies, INTER ALIA, to polished steel balls, the maximm and minimm diameters of which do not differ from the nominal diameter by more than per cent or by more than, mm, whichever is less. Other steel balls are to be classified in heading No.... A machine which is sed for more than one prpose is, for the prposes of classification, to be treated as if its principal prpose were its sole prpose.
