Shortly after, he obtained his second degree in Horticulture from Cal Poly Pomona. Jorge has worked at different botanic gardens and nurseries throughout Southern California. Jorge has traveled throughout the world including Coast Rica, Brazil, England, Belize, Mexico, Argentina, and Paraguay searching for passion flowers. Jorge has been teaching horticulture courses at Long Beach City College as adjunct faculty since Five years ago, Jorge became the lead instructor for the horticulture program. 2 President's Message Happy summer everyone. Pat and I are back from 2 weeks in New Orleans for Jazzfest. Fortunately we had pretty nice weather, not to hot and no rain to speak of. There were storms and sadly tornados all around us but none of them came close to New Orleans. Sorry I missed last months' meeting I understand from Russ and Janell that Peter Lin gave an excellent presentation as he always does; thanks Peter. This months speaker is Jorge Ochoa, Horticulture Professor at Long Beach City College. He brings us a different perspective on growing since he responsible for the Horticulture facility at LBCC. Please come out and support our monthly programs. Janell Shuck puts a lot of effort into our speaker programs and Russ Nichols does a great job of getting the information out to our members in the SCOS Newsletter. Show your support by attending our monthly meetings, be sure and invite friends neighbors and family they are all welcome. See you all at this months meeting.
