3 Activities September 2014 Thursday 4th September Cooking and Gardening at St Anns Allotments A mix of cooking and gardening with a meal for everyone to enjoy together at G2N s very own allotment plot. *We ask for a contribution of between 1 and 2 towards food costs. If you cannot afford to contribute you are still welcome to attend. St Anns Allotment gates 10.30am - 2pm Friday 12th September Lunch Club The monthly lunch club sessions are an opportunity for us to cook, meet friends, and sit around the table and share a meal together in a friendly environment We ask for a voluntary 1.50 contribution towards food costs The Burrow, 40 Forest Road West 10.30am -1.30pm Tuesday 9th September Tour of Winding Engine House and Walk at Bestwood Country Park Today Bestwood Country Park is a green oasis but until the late 1960 s part of what forms the park was Bestwood Coliery, one of the most productive coal mines in Nottinghamshire. Join us for a guided tour of the restored Winding Engine House including a ride in a glass lift to view the mighty engine and control room. After lunch we ll explore the Country Park which is now popular with walkers and bird watchers. Approx 3 miles with slopes. St Anns Allotment gates 10.30am - 2pm Thursday 25th September Wild Food Walk at Bulwell Hall Park Join Park Ranger Craig for a guided tour of all that s wild and edible with this wander through Bulwell Hall Park followed by a picnic at Sellers Wood. Minibus provided // Some food provided but please bring some food to share if you are able Val Roberts House 10am - 3pm Friday 26th September Drum Club Immerse yourself in funky beats and healing rhythms with our monthly hand drumming session led by our resident Beat Master Mark. 5 Activities October 2014 Friday 3rd October Derbyshire Four Mile Walk From Black Rocks we ll head onto the former High Peak Railway line taking in woodland and views over Matlock Bath and Wirksworth. Join walk leader Alan Davies for another jaunt through this scenic county. Includes slopes and hills! Minibus provided // Please bring some lunch // Café stop included Val Roberts House 10am - 4pm Tuesday 21st October Orienteering at Highfields Join Ranger Steve Clarke for an orienteering challenge around the beautiful lake and grounds of Nottingham University. Involves 2 to 3 miles walking with some slopes. Minibus provided // Please bring some lunch // Café stop included Val Roberts House 10am - 4pm Tuesday 28th October Signs of Autumn at Elvaston Castle Country Park The nights are drawing in and animals are starting to feel sleepy. Enjoy the season s bright colours and look for other signs of Autumn within this historic Country Park in Derbyshire. 3 miles walking. 8 Advertisment Healthy Eating Healthy Eating on a Budget Cook and Eat Drop In Try new foods, cook, and share tasty dishes and find out which foods are better for us and why. Four sessions with activities, information, and food aimed at people who have already completed the Cook and Eat classes Drop in sessions are on September 3rd, 10th, 17th, 24th, October 8th, 15th, 22nd, 29th. Introduction to Healthy Eating on October 1st (Aimed at new attendees - please book a place). We ask for a voluntary contribution of between 1 and 2 towards food costs. Seeds explode like grenades, shoot like cannons, stick like glue and float like feathers, all in an effort to disperse themselves. We will try to find some tiny spiders on our walk and see if we can find out how to make them fly. We ll spend the morning with spider expert Sara Goodacre then take ourselves for a walk around this historic park in the afternoon (about 3 miles over the day).
