All about Bulwell If you re interested in finding a home in Bulwell, this fact sheet gives you lots of information about some of the services that are in the area. What s it like to live here? Bulwell has all the local facilities and amenities you might ever need. While other city residents may consider going to town as visiting Nottingham city centre, Bulwell residents think of Bulwell as their town centre. Bulwell is home to a number of large supermarkets including Tesco and Morrisions, as well as other large retail outlets, including Matalan. The Bulwell Riverside joint service centre is home to the Bulwell Housing Office as well as the local library, children s centre, doctors surgery and more. There is also a café within the building, with both indoor and outdoor seating areas, as well as toilet facilities. It s located right next to the tram and train station and Bulwell Bogs, which might not sound like the nicest place but is in actual fact a popular area to enjoy a sunny day, with a stream running through the town, and a children s play and water fun area. There are a number of parks in the Bulwell area, including Snape Wood Nature Reserve, as well as walking and cycling routes. The town centre has Springfield Retail Park and local shops, as well as larger high-street chains and a regular local market, which is held twice weekly, along with an annual arts festival. If you drive, there is plenty of free parking in and around the town centre for your convenience. Schools and colleges See the map at the end of this guide, which shows all of the schools in Bulwell, including the catchment areas for secondary schools. As with most large cities in the UK, there is great pressure on school places and it may not always be possible to get a place at your local school if they are full at time of application. By rail Bulwell Railway Station is a short walk away from Bulwell Housing Office, at Bulwell Riverside with frequent services to Nottingham Central Train station via the Robin Hood line By tram The tram s Hucknall Line runs the length of the ward By bus The area is well-served by the following, frequent, Nottingham City Transport bus services to and from the Nottingham city centre: Yellow Line number 68 and 69 start at Snape Wood and Yellow Line number 70 and 71 start at Morrison s supermarket and all go to Victoria Centre and Turquoise Line number 79 starts in Arnold and calls at Morrisons car park and continues to Maid Marian Way in the city centre.
