2 Welcome For a Braille, large print or tape version of this call free on There are a range of opportunities for you to get involved in the work of Denbighshire Countryside Service and the Clwydian Range and Dee Valley AONB - and we need your help! From Rhyl & Prestatyn in the north, along the Clwydian Range and Dee Valley and to Hiraethog in the west, you can join in every once in a while or every week - the choice is yours. Tasks vary from tree planting to dry stone walling, footpath construction to creating wildlife habitats. No previous experience required training will be provided and you re free to work at your own pace. Remember to wear sturdy foot wear with a good grip, steel toe cap boots are recommended for most jobs. Please bring water proof clothing and a packed lunch with you. Under 14 year olds must be accompanied by a parent /guardian. Meet at Loggerheads Wednesday 3rd 10am- 3pm Moel Famau Heathland Management Help remove conifer regen off the heathland. Meet at Bwlch Penbarras (top) car park (SJ ) Tuesday 9th 10am 1pm Winter Tern Tasks Storage Joint event with the North Wales Little Tern Group to help to build a storage unit for all the equipment for the tern colony at Gronant. Meet at Brickfields Pond office, Rhyl Tuesday 9th 10am- 3pm Coed Alex - Thinning trees Coed Alex is a small woodland near Coed Llangwyfan. Help is needed to thin out the trees, jachet potatoes cooked on the fire to keep us warm. Meet at Coed Llangwyfan top car park, on the road between Llangwyfan and Nannerch (SJ ) Wednesday 10th 10am- 3pm Prestatyn Hillside Path Improvements Come and help us improve some of the well used paths on and around Prestatyn Hillside, including sections of the Offa s Dyke Trail. Sturdy footwear essential. Meet at the small car park on hairpin bend below Thursday 11th 10am 3pm Help on the Offa s Dyke Path. Help to keep the National Trail ready for all the explorer s travelling along it. Meet in Llangollen pavilion car park at 10 am. Tuesday 16th 10am- 3pm Loggerheads Path maintenance Help us maintain our well used paths. Meet at Loggerheads Tuesday 16th to Thursday 18th 10am - 4pm. Traditional skills Pitched path work and building stone benches at Pen y Pigyn. Meet in Corwen main car park at 10am Wednesday 17th 10am- 3pm Moel Findeg Healthy Heath Help us continue to remove the Birch Logs off the Heath. Meet between Maeshafn village and Old Youth Hostel (SJ ). Thursday 18th 10am 3pm Hedge Laying Hedge Laying is an important skill to replenish hedgerows and encourage new growth from the base of the hedge. Come and help lay a piece of hedge in the Local Nature reserve Meet at Rhuddlan Nature Reserve Car Park, Rhuddlan. Tuesday 23rd 10am 3pm Improvements for Bats Help us to build various new cavities in the hide for bats. Meet Glasdir, Ruthin Wednesday 24th 10am- 3pm Gop hill scrub removal Lend a hand to clear scrub and uncover the dry stone wall below the Gop Hill mound. Meet 9.45 in Llangollen Market Street car park Monday 5th 10am 3pm Woodland management Come along to help with the woodland management of an area of woodland, including work on an overgrown area to gain light and space to the paths, making a bonfire from the brash we cut. Meet at Coed Y Morfa Community Woodland, Prestatyn (SJ ) Tuesday 13th 10am 1pm Winter Tern Tasks - General Joint event with the North Wales Little Tern Group to undertake out of season repair work on the hide and visitor centre amongst other things. Meet at Brickfields Pond office, Rhyl Tuesday 13th 10am- 3pm Llangwyfan Nature area Help to improve the nature area at Coed Llangwyfan. Meet at Coed Llangwyfan top car park, on the road between Llangwyfan and Nannerch (SJ ) Wednesday 14th 10am- 3pm Coed Bell Scrub clearance Help with scrub clearance to improve the woodland and Heathland area. Meet at the small car park on hairpin bend below Hillside Gardens, Prestatyn. Tuesday 20th 10am- 3pm biodiversity within the woodland at Loggerheads. Meet at Loggerheads Wednesday 21st 10am- 3pm Moel Findeg - Healthy Heath Management to remove birch trees and saplings which threaten the unusual mosaic of heathland plants that give Moel Findeg it s unique character. Meet between Maeshafn village and Old Youth Hostel (SJ ). Tuesday 6th 10am- 3pm biodiversity within the woodland at Loggerheads. Meet at Loggerheads Wednesday 7th 10am- 3pm Moel Famau Pond clearance Help to remove encroaching vegetation out of Fenlli pond to improve it for wildlife. Meet at Bwlch Penbarras (top) car park (SJ ) Thursday 15th 10am 3pm Access improvements on North Berwyn Way Join us to make improvements on the North Berwyn Way, a walk with beautiful views. Meet at Loggerheads Tuesday 4th 10am 3pm Tree Planting Tree planting as part of the new areas of woodland creation at Glan Morfa, planting good sized native stock into ready prepared holes, what more could you ask for! Meet at Glan Morfa car park, Rhyl. Wednesday 5th 10am 3pm Annual Hedge Laying Competition Hedge Laying is an important skill to replenish hedgerows and encourage new growth from the base of the hedge. The art of laying a hedge is judged in county championships, come along as part of a team of two for the Sixth year of this fun event with a very productive outcome, beginners more than welcome as a tutor will be on hand and helpers are always needed to keep the bonfire well stocked. Venue to be confirmed, register your interest with your local Ranger. Tuesday 11th 10am 3pm Moel Famau Heathland Management Help remove conifer regen off the heathland. Meet at Bwlch Penbarras (top) car park (SJ ) Wednesday 12th 10am 3pm Coed Bell - Exposing the past Come and help us uncover the historical features from the under growth for all to see. Meet at the Tuesday 18th 10am- 3pm Loggerheads Christmas clean up Help spruce up the Park for the festive season carrying out some essential maintenance on the well walked footpaths. Meet Loggerheads Wednesday 19th 10am- 3pm Findeg Scrub clearance and Christmas bonfire Come and help clear scrub off the heathland of the local nature Reserve, Christmas bonfire to celebrate end of the year. Tuesday 12th 10am 1pm Winter Tern Tasks - Chick Shelters Joint event with the North Wales Little Tern Group to build chick shelters for the season ahead. Meet at Coed Llangwyfan top car park, on the road between Llangwyfan and Nannerch (SJ ) Tuesday 19th 10am- 3pm Loggerheads - Springing into life Join us in the wildlife garden and around the tea gardens in a spring tidy.
