6 FLOWERS It is wonderful to walk through a garden of blooming flowers in the morning air. Flowers spread joy and beauty around the world. You gain pleasure to observe colorful flowers, spreading a sweet fragrance in the entire environment around us. Some flowers like roses are very beneficial for our health. The use of rosewater on the face enhances our beauty, while the roses are good for our stomach disorder like constipation. A. K ARTHEEK,IV A CHILD LABOUR Laborers below the age of 14 years are called child labour. India has the largest number of children in the world. Most of child laborers are engaged in agriculture. In the urban areas, children work in Dhabas, eateries of helpers or cleaners in trucks and as domestic servants etc. The main reason behind child labour is poverty. Children born in poor families are forced to work not only for their own survival but also for their family. Awareness of the people and government also compels poor parents to make their children employees as laborers in agricultural farms, factories, brick kilns and as domestic servants. They have long working hours, bad and unhygienic working conditions and fewer wages. Let us all take a step to stop this evil. HUMA FATIMA, V A Above the sky so blue. I saw my teacher that is you, you are not only a teacher. But more than a preacher, you taught us love and affection. And also manners and dedication. You are one who determines our faith. You are really very great. You are my best friend. And next to God in the world. Anoush Thomas,V B ROSE A little rose plant lived inside a dark damp room. One day she heard a soft tapping on his door, Who s there? She asked I am little raindrop. Please let me come in, cried the visitor. No way! said the rose plant angrily. Little raindrop was very sad for being turned away. After sometime the rose plant heard a soft rustle near the door. Who s there now? She asked I am sunny sunshine said the rose plant haughtily. A few days later, the leaves of the rose plant turned brown in color, and her young stem began drooping. Then one day, she heard the chirping of birds and opened her door to see outside. It was spring and there were colorful flowers and greenery all around. The rose plant realized her mistake. So when raindrop and sunshine returned, She welcome them warmly. And after a few days she had a pretty pink rose, for which she thanked the raindrop and the sunshine. A. In this great land of ours, the ancient sages, rulers and saints have been stressing upon the planting of more and more plants and trees. Unfortunately, due to the greedy contractors very large number of trees were cut down. Vanmahotsava was an important programme which was started by Jawaharlal Nehru under the able guidance of Shri Vinobha Bhave. Plants add to the beauty of the place that we live in. Plants have been of great importance of medicine also. Many medicines originate from wild plants.plants also provide us with different types of food.we get the major part of our food from plants.rice, pulses, wheat, vegetables and fruits are some of the most important things which we get from plants.we cannot survive without these. Beside these, fibres from plants provide clothing, wood from plants provide us home. Plant and plant communities also provide the necessary habitat for wildlife.through the intake of carbondioxide, plants can also lessen the green house effect caused by the burning of fossil fuels like coal. The oxygen we breathe also comes from plants. Trees and plants are helpful in bringing out the rain. Plants also help us to live together with animals, supporting each other. We have to protect the plants by not cutting them and also growing more and more trees. J KIRAN, V-A
