1 Peterborough Horticultural Society Volume 156 November 2017 Number 9 Wednesday, November 22, 7pm; doors open at 6:15pm The Holiday Season is fast approaching, and as in past years our November meeting is a time of giving. Mittens, gloves, hats and scarves are donated to Crossroads Women s Shelter where the Moms and their children always send us their thanks. Last year we started something new, bringing in warm men s socks (22 pairs) and these were given to Brock Mission along with Christmas goodies from our table. We also thank you for bringing your non-perishable food for Kawartha Food Share. Every year we beat the total weight of the previous year -let s do it again! I know many of us will be starting our Holiday baking, so please bring in a few of your yummies to share at our table. 2 President's Message: November s meeting will be a busy one, with a great speaker, our Annual General Meeting (AGM) and our scholarship presentations. At the November meeting, we also pause to thank all our BOARD MEMBERS who do so much toward the smooth running of our Society: Jen Bird: Secretary and newsletter co-editor along with the fun table at our meetings. Anita Clifford: Organizes the Plant Sale and Spring & Fall flower shows. Annie English: Heads Fleming Park Committee and hospitality Issa Horani: Liaison between the PHS and the Harper Park conservation initiative. Laura Jack: (new) memberships Elane Kalavrias: Heads the Beautification Grants and future speakers Donna O Brien: Vice-President and chair of the Scholarships committee. Claire Sullivan: Treasurer. 4 Peterborough Garden Show We need Volunteers! Volunteering at our Peterborough Garden Show (April 6, 7, ) is an excellent way to see the show and meet other Hort. Society members. As a volunteer, you will have free entry to the show the day you volunteer. Don t be shy, sign up early and get your pick of times! Sign-up sheets will be at the fall meetings.
