3 FLOWER SHOW RULES 1. All classes are open to all District 9 members. 2. Entries are to be in place by 9:30 a.m., ready for judging at 10:00 a.m. 3. Entries must remain in place until the close of the meeting. 4. Design/Display Divisions: Plant material for design classes 1-6 may be from any source. Artificial plant material is prohibited. Only one entry per class per exhibitor. 5. Horticultural Division: Classes 7-10 must have been grown by the exhibitor Class 7 & 8 two entries per exhibitor are allowed, must be different cultivars Classes 11 & 12 must have been in the possession of the exhibitor for 60 days Classes 15 & 16 two entries per exhibitor are allowed 6. Wild Collected plants of endangered species are strictly forbidden. It is the responsibility of the exhibitor to make sure none of these plants are on exhibit. 7. A Class may be subdivided at the discretion of the Flower Show Committee. 8. The Show Committee will take all reasonable precautions to ensure the safety of the exhibits and containers, but District 9 and the Host Society cannot be held responsible for loss, theft or breakage. 9. Judging will be in accordance with The Ontario Judging and Exhibiting Standards for Horticulture and Floral Design Photography Division: Class 15 & 16 Must have been taken by the exhibitor in Ontario during the past 12 months. Entries must be a maximum size 5 x 7 inches, unmounted and without a matte or border. 3 P a g e

4 Exhibits will be judged on the basis of its merits as a photograph i.e. the quality of the photograph of a bloom, not the quality of the bloom in the photograph as follows: Conforms to rules and class description. Composition, clarity, contrast and colour balance. Artistic merit. The exhibitor may use whatever means they choose in preparing their prints (e.g. Photoshop or GIMP a free alternative to Photoshop). The choice of print size (up to 5 x 7), finish, colour, monochrome, sepia or other effects is at the discretion of the exhibitor. A label with the name and address of the exhibitor is to be attached on the top right corner on the back of the entry (this will assure the judge the way you wish the entry to be viewed). In all divisions the decision of the judges is final. Falls Cascade - A Hogarth Curve. Across the Bridge - A horizontal design. Blossom Time - An oriental style design. Nostalgic Gathering - A nosegay. CLASS 7 CLASS 8 CLASS 9 CLASS 10 CLASS 11 any CLASS 12 Horticulture Division. Tulip One stem, any cultivar, may be cut from forced tulip. Narcissus - One stem, any cultivar, may be cut from forced bulb. Flowering Branch - one branch not to exceed 24 inches in length. Spring Bloom any other one stem. House Plant grown primarily for foliage - pot size not to exceed 8 inches in direction. House Plant grown primarily for flowers - pot size not to exceed 8 inches in any direction. Class 13 Class 14 Display Division Pansy and Viola - A display in a container of choice. A display of spring blooms from your garden. Class 15 Photography Division Wild Flower(s). Class 16 Heritage/Conservation does not have to contain any horticultural element taken in the Niagara Region. 5 P a g e

Turn left on to North Service Road 3. At stop sign, turn left onto Victoria Avenue 4. Turn left on to 6th Avenue 5.
