Eligibility: This competition is open to members of a society in good standing with the Ontario Horticultural Association. 2. Entry Dates/Times: Entries can be placed on Thursday, July 2, 2015 from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., and on Friday, July 3, from 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. No late entries will be accepted; no exceptions. 3. Public Viewing: The show will be open to the public on: Friday, July 3, 12:00 noon to 6:00 p.m. Saturday, July 4, 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. The show will close Saturday, July 4 at 6:00 p.m. 4. Judging: a. Judging takes place on Friday, July 3 from 9:30 a.m. to noon. b. The decision of the judges shall be final. Judges may withhold an award if, in their opinion, the exhibit is not worthy. c. Judging will be in accordance with the Ontario Judging and Exhibiting Standards (OJES) for Horticulture and Design (2003, reprinted 2007, 2010 and 2012.) Please use this reference book for definitions and information. Copies can be purchased from the OHA; order form on line at 5. Removal: No removal is permitted until the show is closed on Saturday, July 4 at 6:00 p.m. Entries are to be removed on Sunday, July 5, between 7:00 a.m. and 9:00 a.m. or, if necessary, by special arrangement with the Flower Show Chair. A signature is necessary for removal of entries. 6. Entries General: a. Exhibitors may enter all Divisions. b. All entries must have an entry tag, giving necessary information including Class Name and Number, Exhibitors Name, Society and District. Entry tags will be supplied at the Convention by the OHA Note: to make entry easier you may use return address labels in the space for your name. c. Reasonable security will be supplied for exhibitors property; however, the OHA assumes no responsibility for loss or damage. Note: To ensure return of your design container, should you forget to take it home, please put your name and address on the bottom of the container. d. Moving design or special exhibit entries, other than one s own is not permitted. The exhibitor is the only person permitted to move or shift the position of a design or special exhibit. The show committee reserves the right to move horticulture entries when necessary to accommodate exhibitors or to subdivide in any class. e. Scarce, protected, or endangered native plants will be disqualified. Refer to Government of Ontario, Ministry of Natural Resources "Endangered Species Act."

2 7. Entries Horticulture: a. Exhibitors must provide their own containers. b. Exhibitors are allowed up to three (3) entries per class provided they are different cultivars. c. Entry tags should include both the common name and the botanical name (if possible). d. All exhibits must have been grown by the exhibitor. The exhibitor must have owned all potted houseplants for at least three months prior to exhibiting. In classes 45 and 46, there may be more than one plant in a container providing they are the same cultivar. e. In Section E, pot covers are allowed. f. The show committee reserves the right to move horticulture entries when necessary to accommodate exhibitors or to subdivide in any class. g. In this show a bud showing colour will be considered a bloom. h. Exhibits must be kept in show condition during the show. An entry may be watered only during the show's non-public hours. 8. Entries Design: a. Pre-registration is required. Exhibitors must register by May 15, 2015 with the Design Class Convenors (see contact information in show schedule.) Only a limited number of entries can be accommodated in each class (see show schedule) so register early. Space will be reserved for each exhibit upon registration by the exhibitor. Any exhibitor who finds it necessary to withdraw must make every effort to find a substitute and advise the Design Class Convenor. Note: If you are unable to reach your Specific Design Class Convenor please contact the Design Convenor, the Special Exhibits Convenor, or the Flower Show Registrar. addresses and phone numbers are noted on page one of the schedule. b. Exhibitors may enter any number of Design classes, but may submit only one exhibit in each class. c. The Design Convenor will assign a specific space to an exhibitor for his or her design. An exhibitor must not change this space. No exhibitor may move an entry by another exhibitor or impinge on another space. d. All designs must be created and staged by the exhibitors themselves. e. All designs must be kept in show condition for the duration of the show. An exhibit may be refreshed by the exhibitor but the exhibit must retain its original form and colour. f. Accessories are permitted unless restricted in the design schedule. g. Plant material must predominate over other components of the exhibit. No artificial plant material, no cut or sliced fruit, dairy products, or perishable food is allowed. No soil or sand is permitted in design exhibits. h. Dried or preserved plant material and decorative wood may be used in their natural state or painted. No painting of fresh plant material is allowed. i. Plant material may be obtained from any source. 9. Entries Special Exhibits: a. Pre-registration is required. 4 DIVISION I: DESIGN Convenor: Marie Decker, , Theme:" Summer in the Southern Tier" Note: All design classes will be staged on tables 76 cm (30") high unless otherwise stated in the schedule. Space allotted is 76 cm (30") wide by 76 cm (30") deep and height unlimited unless otherwise stated in the schedule. There will be no niches except in classes 3, 9, and 10. The back of each design should be finished. Please refer to O.J.E.S. for design definitions. Class 1: "Fiery Sunset" a layer design, staged on a gray pedestal, 76 cm (30") in height, with a round top 50.5 cm (20") in diameter, against a beige cinder-brick wall. Floor space allowed is a 91.5 cm (36") diameter circle. Limited to 5 entries. Class Convenor - Celia Roberts, , croberts8@cogeco.ca Layer Design - A modern, over-lapping stratum design. Layers are characterized by superimposing of different surfaces worked either naturally or manipulated to form an elaborate or striking effect. Direction can be horizontal, diagonal, or vertical. Class 2: "On the Escarpment" a design, staged on a black tablecloth with a natural wood-coloured background. Limited to 7 entries. Class Convenor - Sandra Williamson, lately@hotmail.com Class 3: "Summer Pageantry" a small design, in a matte-black niche 10" high x 10" wide x 10" deep. Design should fit appropriately in the niche. Limited to 8 entries. Class Convenor - Lil Taggart, , cell , liltovey@hotmail.com Class 4: "It's a Grand Experience" a design incorporating the visible use of water, staged on a black tablecloth with a mustard-coloured vinyl background. Class Convenor - Marie Decker, , mardecker12@gmail.com Class 5: "Basking in the Sun" a design staged on a square, black wrought iron pedestal, 91.5 cm (36") high with a 30.5 cm (12 inch) square top, against a beige cinder-brick wall. Floor space allowed is 76 cm (30") x 76 cm (30"). Limited to 5 entries. Class Convenor - Marie Decker, , mardecker12@gmail.com Class 6: "Finishing Touch" a fascinator to be staged in a space no larger than 61 cm (24") wide x 61 cm (24") deep and to be elevated on a stand or form which will sit on a table 76 cm (30") from the floor with a black tablecloth and a mustard-coloured vinyl background. Design should fit appropriately in the niche. Limited to 10 entries. Class 58: Mixed cut garden flowers excluding branches or vines minimum of 5 different cultivars/varieties, 1 stem of each Class 59: Cut garden foliage excluding branches minimum of 5 different cultivars/varieties, 1 stem of each Class 60: Collection of roses minimum of 3 different cultivars/varieties, 1 specimen bloom or 1 spray of each Class 61: Collection of vegetables - minimum of 5 different varieties displayed on/in a 15" tray or basket Class 62: Collection of herbs minimum of 5 different cultivars/varieties, at least 1 stem of each, named
