2 Aquascapes Unlimited Inc. P.O. Box 364 Pipersville, PA Phone: Fax: website: Aquascapes Unlimited, a grower and supplier of ornamental aquatic plants and fish also provides a wholesale source for local ecotype native wetland plants for restoration projects. Our company has been specializing in lake, pond and wetland management for estate, institutional, governmental and commercial establishments for over 20 years with hundreds of satisfied clients. Aquascapes Unlimited offers consultation services explaining what, where, how, and when to plant aquatic material. The majority of our plants are seed sown winter hardy perennials grown in containers to provide easy shipping and storage for garden centers and landscapers alike. The price list reflects plants in appropriately sized containers unless otherwise specified. Large plant specimens are available in any species listed. Environmentally speaking, native plants are the most appropriate for use in water gardens and natural systems because the plants and other life forms they support have evolved together in the same place at the same time. The plants listed below offer some ornamental attributes that appeal to water gardeners. Many are standard bread and butter items that have been marketed for decades. Others may be relatively obscure or rare in their natural environment, limited in their range, or species we believe are worthy of ornamental display. We firmly believe there is (or will be) a native substitute for every non-native plant currently offered. Get involved with your local watershed organization & conservation district and show them you are environmentally aware and expand your market in an environmentally responsible manner. Sincerely, Randolph Heffner President w w w. a q u a s c a p e s u n l i m i t e d. c o m

7 HARDY FLOATERS Although sometimes problematic in water gardens and natural systems, Duckweed and Azolla provide a natural alternative to a non-native floating tropical in an ecosystem. A proper balance of herbivores must be maintained in order to achieve equilibrium. Many water gardeners use both as a vegetable supplement for ornamental pool fishes such as comets and koi. BOTANICAL NAME COMMON NAME SIZE PRICE Azolla caroliniana Mosquito Fern 1 lb Lemna minor Duckweed 1 lb SUBMERGENTS Submergent plants in an aquatic system provides a vital roll in nutrient absorption, particulate filtration, and oxygenation. Often referred to as oxygenators most water gardeners consider them essential for a balanced ecosystem. Many native options are available that can provide interesting forms as well as function. Most submergents are sold as bare root or sold as bunches in groups of 5-10 stems per bunch. 8 CARNIVOROUS COMPANIONS A collection of carnivorous companions complements a colorful container and creates a carnival of carnivores (say that 3 times fast). The plants we offer are often found in natural community associations in areas where carnivorous plants are found in the wild. Although some may be considered aggressive and competitive, we have found the group we offer to be manageable in a containerized bog. Many are quite rare in the horticultural trade. All are native.
