1 SETTING THE STANDARD OF CUSTOMER SERVICE TAKE-OFF External: Volume 5 October 2014 Q4 Vector Aerospace Africa DOF approval extended to include Cessna Caravan s PT6A-140 Vector Aerospace Africa (Pty) Ltd s approvals for the Pratt & Whitney Canada (P&WC) PT6A have been extended to include its appointment as a Designated Overhaul Facility (DOF) for the new PT6A-140. This model powers the latest Cessna Grand Caravan EX, which is popular across Africa for various uses. We are well known for our industry-leading customer service orientation, and we share with P&WC a service first philosophy that is of great importance to aircraft owners, aircraft manufacturers and us, said Jeff Poirier, President of Vector Aerospace Engine Services Atlantic (ES-A). With this new DOF appointment for the PT6A-140 engine, we are pleased to continue our long and successful relationship with P&WC. PT6A-140 engine Located in Lanseria, South Africa, Vector Aerospace Africa (Pty) Ltd is a P&WC Distributor and Designated Overhaul Facility (DDOF) for other PT6A engine models. The facility also offers mobile repair team (MRT) support for a range of additional P&WC powerplants. Vector Aerospace s Prince Edward Island facility first in Atlantic Canada to secure AS9110B certification Vector Aerospace Engine Services Atlantic (ES-A) is pleased to announce that its Summerside, PEI MRO facility has received AS9110B certification. The internationally recognized AS9110B standard was developed to meet the specific requirements of aerospace maintenance organizations, incorporating the requirements of ISO 9001:2008 and specifying additional quality management system requirements We are one of only fifteen companies in Canada to hold this approval and the first in Atlantic Canada, said Jeff Poirier, President of ES-A. The AS9110B is much more than a quality standard. It is truly an organizational business tool that will allow us to increase our efficiencies, produce a quality product, and remain competitive in a challenging aviation marketplace. This certification will also help us to increase our market share by gaining access to large and global military markets. End of an era as Vector Aerospace UK completes final Sea King overhaul The final AgustaWestland Sea King helicopter to undergo depth maintenance at Vector Aerospace Fleetlands, aircraft tail number ZE422, recently departed from the facility s heli-pad in Gosport, Hampshire, following its completion. The Sea King family has had a long and distinguished association with the Fleetlands site, which has supported the platform with depth maintenance, modifications and upgrades since it entered UK MOD service in Vector Aerospace has been providing support under contract to AgustaWestland via the Sea King Integrated Operational Support (SKIOS) scheme, focused on the delivery of operational availability, which has allowed Vector s workforce to build in-depth knowledge of every aircraft in the MOD fleet. This knowledge, together with the skill of the Fleetlands workforce, has played a key role in keeping the Sea King fleet operating at a high tempo and with an excellent safety record. The long-standing relationship has also forged a close bond between the Vector Aerospace Sea King team and the UK services. The Royal Navy and Royal Air Force fleets of Sea Kings are best known for providing search and rescue (SAR) services in the UK and Falkland Islands, and they are also used to carry troops and provide airborne surveillance. Our workforce has been proud to support this aircraft throughout its service to the country. With the conclusion of the Sea King maintenance program, Vector Aerospace UK is now developing its portfolio of engine and airframe work in both the civil and military sectors.

2 Vector Aerospace Engine Services Atlantic implements sales responsibility changes within U.S. market As part of continuing efforts to better service its extensive customer base, Vector Aerospace Engine Services Atlantic (ES-A) is implementing the following territorial responsibility changes to sales territories in the U.S. market. Dave Mires, Field Service and Sales Representative, now serves customers in Washington, Oregon, Alaska and Hawaii. Phil Borden, Sales and Service Manager, now serves customers in Kansas, Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Louisiana and Southern California. Phil Reinpold, Sales and Service Manager, now serves customers in Idaho, Montana, North Dakota, South Dakota, Wyoming, Nebraska, Utah, Colorado, New Mexico, Arizona, Nevada and Northern California. The main goal of these territorial changes is to allow our sales team to be more readily available to support our valued customer base. Vector Aerospace UK s Gosport site reaps proximity benefits Following the recent drive by Vector Aerospace UK to promote the off aircraft side of its business to the local business community in Gosport, the first few shoots of success have been appearing on site. The proximity sales initiative involved a direct approach to local companies with whom we currently had no relationship. This has shown some initial success with the arrival on site of a Rolls-Royce Trent 1000 engine cowling. The project involved carrying out the refinish/ paint part of the project to an extremely high specification. The team in the paint shop rose to the challenge that was presented and, as expected, delivered to an extremely exacting set of standards. This has now resulted in the delivery of follow-on work and quotations for a number of projects. The relationship with this company is growing from strength-to-strength, enabling us to offer products into a wider, more diverse market. Canadian Minister of International Trade tours Vector Aerospace s Summerside facility The Honourable Ed Fast, Minister of International Trade, and the Honourable Gail Shea, Minister of Fisheries and Oceans, met with representatives of Vector Aerospace Engine Services Atlantic (ES-A) recently at the Summerside facility in PEI. Minister Fast was on a visit to PEI to meet with representatives of Canadian companies and local governments to discuss how they will benefit from opportunities created by the Canada-Korea and Canada-EU trade agreements. Aerial view of Gosport site Vector Aerospace receives outstanding supplier award from Erickson Aviation Vector Aerospace Helicopter Services NA (HS-NA) was awarded an Outstanding Supplier Award at the annual Erickson Supplier Conference held in Ashland, Oregon on September 19 th. The award recognizes Vector s quality and customer service provided during the transition of Evergreen Helicopters in The award was presented by Jeff Stein, Erickson s Director of Materials, and was accepted on behalf of HS-NA by Elise Bair, Western U.S. Sales Manger. Erickson operates a fleet of 90 helicopters and fixed wing aircraft, and it recognized its key suppliers as critical to its continued success. Vector Aerospace tops PEI firms amongst 2014 Top 101 Companies in Atlantic Canada Vector Aerospace Engine Services Atlantic (ES-A), based in Summerside, PEI, was ranked 16 th in the latest TOP 101 Companies in Atlantic Canada list published by Progress Magazine, a Nova Scotia based business publication. ES-A was highest-placed company of the nine PEI-based businesses to make the annual TOP 101 survey, which ranks the region s leading corporations by revenue for the 2013 fiscal year. 3 Vector Aerospace exhibits at Helitech Vector Aerospace was one of 140+ exhibitors from 19 countries to attend the 2014 Helitech International tradeshow, held in Amsterdam during October Vector Aerospace showcased a newly constructed exhibit at Europe s largest dedicated helicopter show, manned with staff from Vector Aerospace UK, Vector Aerospace Helicopter Services NA and Vector Aerospace Leasing Solutions. Michael Tyrell, Managing Director of Vector Aerospace UK, also featured in an interview which was hosted on the Helitech International website. The AAD is one of the world s premier Aerospace and Defence exhibitions and holds a prominent position within the Aviation and Defence calendar. The AAD brings together various industries from throughout the world so as to showcase the latest technological innovations. The tradeshow provided Jason and Martin the opportunity to re-connect with existing customers and develop new business relationships. Vector Aerospace Helicopter Services NA makes a show of force at ALEA Vector Aerospace Helicopter Services NA (HS-NA) exhibited at Airborne Law Enforcement Association s annual tradeshow in Phoenix, Arizona this year. HS- NA s presence at this show was very successful: our USA sales managers were able to both re-connect and establish new relationships within the law enforcement industry. Vector Aerospace exhibits at LABACE 2014 Vector Aerospace recently exhibited once again at the 11 th annual Latin American Business Aviation Conference and Exhibition (LABACE), which was held August in Sao Paulo, Brazil. The attendance was commendable and the quality of potential customers visiting our booth was very encouraging. The Consul General of Canada in Brazil, Mr. Stephane Larue, accompanied by Canadian Trade Commissioners also paid a visit to our booth and were quite impressed with the range of MRO services offered by Vector Aerospace to our customers in Brazil and Latin America. (left to right) Alex Krell, Canadian Trade Commissioner, Stephane Larue, Consul General of Canada and Jean Edouard Drouault, VP Business Development at the Vector Aerospace Booth at LABACE Customer Profile PAE Applied Technologies For the past ten years, Vector Aerospace has proudly supported the U.S. Navy s Atlantic Undersea Test and Evaluation Center (AUTEC), for which PAE Applied Technologies is responsible for providing maintenance and operations. The Center houses range systems that provide accurate underwater and in-air tracking for firing platforms and targets, with helicopters used for target retrieval and torpedo testing. Vector Aerospace provided complete inspection, refurbishment and avionics modification of two of AUTEC s Sikorsky S-61N helicopters in 2005 and These aircraft were sent to Vector again in 2011 for a pylon and corrosion inspection/ strip and paint as part of their four-year maintenance program. Vector is currently working on one of AUTEC s S-61s, and will receive another early next year for repeat inspections. AUTEC s Director of Maintenance, Jeff Mitchell, told Rotor & Wing magazine in March 2012 that type familiarity was a big reason AUTEC chose to fly its S-61s from its base in the Bahamas all the way to Vector Aerospace Helicopter Services NA s (HS-NA) facility in Langley, BC. We were under a tight deadline and knew the depth of Vector s experience with the S-61, Mitchell continued. In 2006 and 2007, Vector Aerospace performed a complete re-wire on both aircraft. By having the harnesses made prior to the aircraft s arrival, Vector completed the 9,000 hour re-wire and avionics mods in less than five months. AUTEC s helicopter avionics upgrades included four new Rockwell Collins multi-function displays, AHRS, Mode S transponders, upgraded radar altimeters, a pair of Garmin GN530s and a complete change out of 40+ year old wiring and connectors. This all contributed to creating fleet commonality and greater operational safety for AUTEC s missions. Vector Aerospace looks forward to continuing to provide reliable MRO support to AUTEC, and wishes them the best of success in their missions.

4 Vector Aerospace Helicopters Services NA expands Super Puma CVFDR STC to include AS332L1 Vector Aerospace Helicopter Services North America (HS-NA) has added the AS332L1 model to its FAA-certified cockpit voice and flight data recorder (CVFDR) Supplemental Type Certificate (STC) for the Airbus Helicopters Super Puma family. HS-NA s CVFDR STC approval already covers the AS332C and AS332L variants of the helicopter. We are very proud to add the AS332L1 to our CVFDR STC, states Elvis Moniz, Vice President, Operations in Langley, BC. This is a unique offering which provides Vector Aerospace with a competitive advantage in the market, and we are pleased to offer the CVFDR to AS332L1 operators across the globe. Vector Aerospace was proud to attend celebrations held in Fort Erie, ON, during September to celebrate Airbus Helicopters Canada s 30 th anniversary. Declan O Shea and Randy Levine were among the special guests and dignitaries who were invited to the event at AHCA s facility, which is located 90 km south of Toronto. Other attendees included the Honourable Ed Fast, Minister of International Trade; Phillippe Zeller, France s Ambassador to Canada; and Dominique Maudet, Executive Vice President of Global Business and Services at Airbus Helicopters. CVFDR Vector Aerospace joins in celebration of Airbus Helicopters Canada s 30 th anniversary Vector Aerospace UK hosts visit by European Rotorcraft Forum In early September the European Rotorcraft Forum held its 40 th annual conference in Southampton, just along the coast from Vector Aerospace s Fleetlands site in Gosport on the south coast of England. The three-day conference, which hosted delegates from aerospace companies across Europe, requested that Vector Aerospace host a facility tour as part of the conference. As one of the leading provider of helicopter MRO in Europe we were delighted to be involved in the event, which was organized by the Royal Aeronautical Society (RAeS). Around 40 delegates from the conference attended the site tour and all were extremely impressed by the commitment and professionalism shown by the entire workforce. Events such as these highlight to the wider civil aviation market our capabilities, and act as excellent promotion for our services. Vector Aerospace all business at NBAA Regional Forum Representatives from Vector Aerospace Engine Services Atlantic (ES-A)recently attended the NBAA Business Aviation Regional Forum in Dallas, Texas. The forum, which was held September 18 th, brings together current and prospective business aircraft owners, operators, manufacturers, customers and other industry personnel for a one-day event to help introduce business aviation to local officials and prospective owners and operators, and to help address the issues of the day in the region. In a special 25 th anniversary edition of Jet Support Services, Inc. s (JSSI) AirWays magazine, being distributed at the upcoming NBAA tradeshow, Vector Aerospace s CEO Declan O Shea provides his thoughts on the evolution and future of the MRO industry The latest copy of Aviation Business (Asia Pacific) prominently features Vector Aerospace on the front cover, along with a detailed article on Vector s Australian facility. RotorHub s Helitech International Day 1 show daily magazine includes detailed insight from Vector Aerospace on the evolution of engine technology and customer MRO requirements, along with commentary on Vector s response to emerging regional developments. Finally, and as detailed below, a recent copy of Aviation Week and Space Technology from August featured Vector s own Balkiz Sarihan one of the magazine s top 40 under 40. Vector Aerospace employee recognized as one of Av Week s Top 40 Under 40 Balkiz Sarihan, VP Business Development and Strategy at Vector Aerospace, has been selected as one of Aviation Week & Space Technology s 40 Under 40 rising stars in aerospace and defense. The annual listing of AW&ST s 40 Under 40 was published in the magazine s August 11 th issue. Aviation Week notes that Balkiz was selected based on her demonstration of leadership qualities, combining strong technical, business and financial acumen with a generous personality which has made her a well-known and popular figure in the aerospace industry. Balkiz has a proven track record of delivering large-scale, missioncritical projects and programs, on time and under budget. The magazine goes on to note that Balkiz has led the development of the business plan for Vector s Super Puma lease program in taking this program from concept through to full execution, she has played a central role in establishing an Irish operating division, associated support capabilities and business processes, as well as leading the successful negotiation and acquisition of an initial fleet of Super Pumas. The set up of a new leasing business fits her skill set perfectly. The article concludes that Balkiz assesses information from many sources before developing a viewpoint or a solution. She brings tough issues to the surface even when it is uncomfortable. Vector Aerospace has seen her make decisions with speed, rigor and quality while she juggles new customer demands with operational constraints coming into her own especially when the company needs to understand what drives other people s agendas, and what remains out of sight. This recognition is excellent exposure both for Balkiz herself and for Vector Aerospace as a whole, reflecting the company s focus on attracting, growing and retaining talented employees.
