5 1. Introduction ProVision provides the end user with an overview of all the incidents that take place while the fire alarm system is in use. It enables control of all the parameters that a fire alarm system consists of, from the state of the sensors which are situated in the installation field to the settings of the microcontroller of the control panel. It can be used for monitoring, individually, a large number of panels. The software is capable to communicate with the panel via RS-232 for local connection or TCP-IP protocol for distance connection. 2. Software Installation To install the program you have to run by double clicking the FighterProVision.exe file in the CD or the folder where the file is located. Then by following the installer instructions you complete the installation. Currently this software supports only Windows XP or later. The minimum requirements are: System Windows XP or later RAM memory 512MB at least Hard Disk space 200MB Display Resolution Minimum 1024 x 768 pixels Table 1. System requirements 3. PC Users 3.1 Introduction For entering the ProVision software a username and a password are required. After first entering the program it creates a new users accounts for the software. 5

6 3.2 Default Code For the first time entering the program use the default administrator's account shown below: Username: admin Password: admin Figure 1. ProVision software login window After entering the program it is mandatory to change the administrator's default password. 3.3 Edit PC User For editing a PC User press the [PC Users] button, which is at the left side of the window. In this window you can see all the existing PC users and the access level each one has. Select the desired user and press the [Edit] button. The account data of the user are active and ready for modifications. 6

7 Figure 2. Editing PC Users window 3.4 Create new PC User For creating a new PC User account press the [Add] button and fill the required fields. The fields described below are mandatory: 1. Full Name: User's full name. 2. Username: Username for entering the program. 3. Password: Password for entering the program. 4. Access Level: User's access level. Create an account for every user that will use the program. The program supports up to eleven PC Users, except Administrator. 7

8 3.5 PC User's Access Level Every PC user has a specific access level. Each access level gives the user the authorization for specific software functions. Access levels allowed functions 3.6 Delete PC User Only the administrator can delete a PC User by selecting the PC user and pressing the [Delete] button. Only authorized personnel can be set as user, since the ProVision software connected with the Fighter fire alarm panel, affects panel's functionality. 8

9 4. Customers Figure 3. Customers window 4.1 Introduction In Customers window the program displays the created customers of a user. Every customer corresponds to one Fighter panel. In case a customer has two panels, two customers will be created with the same data except the panel's ID and account number. 4.2 Default Customer At the first startup of the program customers list is empty. The program informs the user and creates a default customer as an example. The default customer's data contain information about Fighter's manufacturer. 9

10 4.3 Customer's Data Each customer's data are unique. Customer's data are divided in five categories. These categories are: 1. Customer ID: A unique id for each customer Company: Customer's company name. Name: Customer's full name. 2. Telephones Two mobile phone numbers Two telephone numbers One fax number 3. Personal Info. General customer's information 4. Connection. Type of connection with the panel. TCP/IP: TCP-IP connection with the panel. Observe: Only if the TCP-IP connection is enabled. Receives events and information at multi-client work. Time: Maximum time between panel's UDP packages. Serial Com Port: Connection via RS-232. IP Domain Name: Required for the TCP-IP connection. Port: Required for the TCP-IP connection. Panel S/N: Panel's serial number. 5. Address. The software stores the address were the panel is located. 4.4 Create New Customer To create a new customer press the [Add] button. It is possible to copy data from an existing customer and paste them in a new customer. The new customer created will have the same data except the customer's ID and Panel's S/N. ProVision software supports up to one thousand (1.000) customers. 10

11 4.5 Editing Existing Customer You can edit data from an existing customer. Select the customer and press [Edit]. In order to edit a customer the user cannot be connected with another customer. Figure 4. New customers window 4.6 Delete Customer To delete a customer, select and press the [Delete] button. In case the customer is connected, first he must be disconnected and then deleted. All the customers can be deleted, except the default customer. 4.7 Export Import Customer It is important the customers data to be kept in a backup folder, in case of a PC failure. After creating a customer select and press [Export] and a folder will be created containing customer's data. 11

12 With the above created folder it is easy to import data also for the creation of a new customer. Press the [Import] button, search the folder created after the export procedure and select the ".dat" file the folder contains. The software will take the customers data to create a new customer. 4.8 Multiclient Monitoring When a user is connected with a customer for programming and monitoring, all the other connected customers maintain communication with the program providing information about their status or an alarm situation. For a continuous communication with the ProVision software, the customer must be constantly connected via the TCP-IP connection and [Observe] field to be selected at the customer's data. If a customer is chosen to be observed an icon appears at the right side of the window. There are four icons displaying customers status: The panel in normal condition. The panel in fault condition. The panel in alarm condition. The panel does not respond. 4.9 Customers Filters To be sure that no customer is in alarm or fault condition, there are five different filters for the displaying of the customers depending on their status. These displaying filters are: 1. All Customers: All the active customers. 2. Active Customers: All the customers selected to be observed. 3. Customers in Alarm: All the customers in an alarm condition. 4. Customers in Fault: All the customers in a fault condition. 5. Unresponsed Cust.: All the customers that don't respond to the software Live PC Events All the events from the observed customers are recorded. The events can be seen by pressing the [Events List] button in the customer's form. Also in the Events List are recorded the events from the software, the software observation, the users' moves etc. 12

13 5. Monitoring Customer 5.1 Introduction The monitoring customer window displays the panel's status and affects its functions. The user can also make some adjustments to the panel. 5.2 Presenting Monitoring In this window are indications for almost every function of the panel. This window represent the panel's keypad using a PC friendly way. There are led indications for the panel and the zones, descriptions, zone filters, event recording and other useful informations. 14 5.2.1 Main Indications Figure 6. Main indications At the top left side of the monitoring window there are three LEDs that represent the panel's keypad status LEDs. In detail: The first LED displays alarm conditions. At normal condition (no alarm) LED is grey. In alarm condition LED becomes red. The second LED displays fault conditions. At normal condition (no fault) LED is grey. In fault condition (includes all fault conditions) LED becomes yellow. The third LED indication displays panel's power state. In normal state LED is green. If the LED blinks the panel has problem with one of the two power sources (battery or mains power) Zones Filters Fire alarm panel can support up to seventy two (72) zones. For zones observation the below filters help the user to see in groups the required zones. The zones filters are: 1. All Zones: All the existing zones. 2. Selected Zones: Selected zones from the user. 3. Zones in Alarm: Zones in alarm condition. 4. Zones in Fault: Zones in fault condition. 5. Bypassed Zones: Programmed bypassed zones. 6. Cross-zones: Programmed cross-zones. 14

15 5.2.3 Zones Description At the center of the window the zones of the panel are displayed with all the necessary information. Sixteen (16) zones can be displayed at the same time, if the panel has more zones a scroll bar appears. Each zone contains eight information fields: Figure 7. Zones status description In case a zone is not visible at the zones window and an alarm, fault, bypass or relay condition appears then indication arrows appear to guide the user move the scroll bar. There are two additional zones indications depending on how the zones are programmed to work. When a zone is in normal condition the only indications user can observe are the eight mentioned above. Else: If a zone works as an intellizone: The indication appears next to description. The indication becomes red in case 15

16 the zone is in pre-intellizone state. If a zone works as a cross-zone: A square bracket appears to indicate the group of the four cross-zones Panel's Control Buttons Under the general LED indications there are five buttons, that provide immediate control of the panel. In detail: 1. Silence: Sends a general silence command to the panel. 2. Reset: Resets the panel after an alarm situation. 3. Select Zones: Selects the zones that appear on the [Selected Zones] filter. This button does not affect panel. 4. Bypass: Sets the selected zones or relays as bypassed zones. 5. Date/Time: The panel's date and time synchronizes to the PC's Panel's Power Status In this window the power status of the panel and the connected expansion modules is monitored. For the expansion modules (zone and relay) power supplies, eight pairs of leds inform the user if the modules have power supplies or work through the bus cable. If the led's color is gray the module works using power from the bus or the module is not connected. If the color is green the module works with it's own mains. In case led is yellow then the module has fault on power supply. Last is the panel's power status indication (analog and digital). User knows the exact power level for mains and battery. Figure 8. 17 5.2.6 Day/Night Mode Figure 10. Day/Night mode indication The day/night operation is based on the intellizone feature. It is a mechanism based on a daily timer that either activates (day mode) or deactivates (night mode) the intellizone feature on predefined times of the day. The Day/Night mode is dependent on the intellizone feature. When the Day/Night feature is active, it is always displayed on the Monitoring screen and the current state (day or night mode) is shown. For Day/Night Mode activation see Programming, General Options section Live Events Figure 11. Live events field ProVision has a feature that provides the user with information on the communication between the Fighter control panel and ProVision. The program displays all the events that take place during system s operation, for example a System Reset. All events are logged in time sequence fully described by the place where the event occurred, description of the event, time and date. Every live event is described at the fields described below. 1. Event Source: Who is responsible for the event. 2. Event Description: Event's description. 3. Zone Or Area Description: Extra information about the event. 4. Event Date-Time: The exact time the event take place. 17

18 6. Installation Overview Figure 12. Installation Overview Installation overview window displays the total system's installation. It includes the expansion zone modules, the expansion relay modules, the keypads that are connected with the main panel. Each module has a description that informs the user about the module's address. In addition the power supply units, that are connected with the modules, are also displayed. There is an indicative current for the panel depending on the number of modules the panel has connected. If a problem occurs at the modules and/or their power supply units and the main panel continuous to work, an indication will appear (a red X ) above the pictures to inform the user about module's failure. 18

19 7. Creating Plans 7.1 Presenting Plans Figure 13. Creating Plans window Fighter ProVision gives the installer/user the option of having a schematic view of the area where the fire alarm system is installed. That means having diagrams for each area of the building where the system is applied, with detailed information where the sensors and other system components are placed, the ProVision gives the capability of absolute locating of the point of incident. The user has the ability to import up to 12 different floor plans in *.bmp file format. The window is divided in three layers. The first layer, on the top, contains all the possible components the installer/user can add to the plans. The second layer, middle empty space, is to import a floor plan. The third layer contains the plans buttons and the control buttons. 19

20 7.2 Control Buttons User can create up to twelve installation plans. Every plan appears after the pressing the button with the plan number. The four control buttons at the bottom of the window are: 1. Save: Saves the created plan. 2. Import: Imports a floor plan (*.bmp). 3. Delete: Deletes the inserted floor plan. 4. Exit: Exits the Plans window. 7.3 Components The components mentioned below can be added inside a plan, creating an installations overview. All the added components are active and provide system's information (with the correct adjustments) Components' Description The list of components is: Fighter Main Panel (one per customer) Fighter Keypad (up to 8 keypads) Smoke detector Heat detector Beam detector Extinguish glass button General Siren Valve Extinguisher Stop Gas Indication Door electromagnet Plan label 20

21 Extinguishing Reset glass button Banshee Audio List with all the components added Clear all components Adding a Component To add a component press the corresponding button from the components list on the top of the window and insert the icon. Don't drag the mouse only click to select and click to release. Depending on the component, it is mandatory to make adjustments about the zone or the relay that the component will be responding to. In case the adjustments are wrong the component will not have the correct behavior Editing / Deleting a Component Double-click on an component inside a plan. A form will appear with the options to edit or delete the component. 8. Settings 8.1 Introduction On Settings form it is possible to make adjustments to ProVision software for the monitoring application. Those settings help the user to make the software more useful. There can be made adjustments for the IP settings, the timeout period and the events colors. 8.2 IP Settings IP settings give the ability for multi client monitoring. The user can get information for all the customers' status. The port that the software will be connected to must be adjusted. The IP Address is not programmable, the software recognizes all the PC's IP Addresses, but uses the port that is set from the user. 21

22 Figure 14. IP settings form 8.3 Time-out Period Time-out period provides user with the opportunity to set the timers of the Monitoring application. The two timers are: The Auto Disconnect Time: This timers defines the specific period time that the Monitoring of the ProVision software will disconnect from the Fighter panel. To disable the Auto Disconnect Time set the value to zero (default value). Auto Change in Monitoring Screen: Sets the period of time before the idle software returns to Monitoring window. To disable the Auto Change in Monitoring timer set the value to zero (default value). Figure 15. Time-out period settings 8.4 Events Colors The monitoring window displays the events taking place during the connection time with a panel. For the easiest recognition the colors of live events can be adjusted. To change the colors back to default setting press the [Use Default Colors] button. To set the desired event colors as default setting press the [Set Colors as Default] button. 22

23 Figure 16. Events Colors settings 9. Create Events Report 9.1 Introduction It is important for the user to know all the event that takes place in the panel. Fighter can save up to one thousand (1.000) events. ProVision software saves unlimited number of events. The events are displayed through a HTML page, which is easy to read and print. The HTML file remains in the PC and the list of events can be seen even if ProVision is not connected with the panel. 23

24 9.2 Panel Events Figure 17. Create Events Report List settings With the [Panel Events] selection system's operation events are chosen to be displayed. With the selection of events, if the [View List] button is pressed the events file will appear. The events file contains the customer's name, the panel's serial number and the time period the events took place. 24

25 9.3 PC Events Figure 18. PC Events Report settings ProVision software can create a list with PC events. With the selection of PC Events the user knows all his actions when he was online. The PC events list includes also the events for multi client monitoring. The PC events list exists for safety reasons, since the user can affect the panel's operation it is best to be monitored. 9.4 Time and Type Filters For both Panel and PC event lists the user can select to view a specific time that events are created. The events filter is created, by choosing the desired events and time. With the [Select all] and [Clear All] buttons the user can affect to all the events in the list. Date Time selection form helps the user to search events in a specific time period. The [Specific Time] selection is for 25

26 specifying the date time limits of the list, else the [Any Time] selection displays all the events from the time the panel has been installed. 10. Programming Fighter Panel 10.1 Introduction Figure 19. Programming window Through Provision programming it is easy to set the required adjustments needed for the panel, especially if the panel's installation includes more than eight zones. 26

27 10.2 Download Panel's Programming First time ProVision connects with a Fighter Panel it is important to identify the panel's programming adjustments. By pressing the [Download] button the software will be updated with the panel's programming adjustments. Every time the adjustments are downloaded the software creates a text file with panel's information and settings Presenting Programming Programming window consisting three general categories in four tabs. The four categories include all the adjustments that can be made in the panel. 1. Zone Configuration: Programming the zone description and the zone operation. 2. General Options: Includes all the panel's adjustments. 3. TCP-IP Settings: Includes TCP-IP module's settings. 4. Access Codes: Includes all the panel's access codes for the installer, master, and the eight users Zone Configuration Figure 20. Zone configuration window In zones configuration window gives the installer the option of describing each zone in the system independently. Next to the zones description are two columns with buttons, that adjust the zones operation. The first column sets the zones as 27

28 intellizones and the second column sets the zones as cross-zones. A zone can not be set as cross-zone and intellizone at the same time General Options Figure 21. General Options window In general options window the user can adjust the panel's general settings. The general options window is divided into four groups, which are explained below. 1. Communicator options Account Number: One unique id for the central station to recognize the panel. Central Station Telephone 1: The telephone line that will communicate in an alarm situation. Central Station Telephone 2: The telephone line that will communicate in an alarm situation in case the first telephone line is not responding. Communicator: Enables / Disables the Communicator. Periodic Test Report Every (hours): At the defined period of time sends a message about system's status. Max Dial Attempts: Maximum number of communication attempts. 28

29 TLM Report Delay Time (sec): Alarm Transmission Delay (sec): Time delay between alarm detection and alarm notification. Delay between Attempts (sec): Time delay between communication attempts. 2. Periodical System Test Enable/ Disable: Sets the periodic test reminder to ON. Next Periodical Test: Displays the day and time of the next system's periodic test. Previous Periodical Test: Displays the day and time of the last system's periodic test. 3. Timings Cross Delay Time (sec) Intellizone Verification Time (sec): Alarm verification time after the first intellizone detected an alarm situation. Cross Reset Delay Time (sec): After the pre-defined time the panel resets from an extinguish operation. 4. General Options Day / Night Mode: Enables or disables the Day/Night mode (intellizone pattern set to ON). Day Mode Start Time: Sets time to start the intellizone pattern. Night Mode Start Time: Sets time to stop the intellizone pattern. Intellizone Mode: Sets the intellizone function mode to: Global mode: Any zone can provide the Second Alarm and trigger the General Alarm condition. Local mode: Only zones located on the same zones module as the intellizone that gave the first alarm may trigger the General Alarm with the second Alarm signal. Evacuation From Keypad: Enables or disables the option evacuation from keypad. Evacuation From Zone: Enables or disables the option evacuation from zone. Evacuation From Extinguish: Enables or disables the option evacuation from extinguish. Siren 1 Pattern: Selects Siren's 1 sound pattern. Constant sound (Default). ANSI pattern. Siren 2 Pattern: Selects Siren's 2 sound pattern. 29

31 10.7 Access Codes Figure 23. Access codes settings window In the Access Codes window the panel's access codes can be modified from a PC user/installer connected at the panel in access level 3 or administrator mode. The Installer's access code is necessary for the software to connect with the panel. In case a wrong code is added to the software, the ProVision will not connect to the Fighter panel Upload Programming At the end of settings modifications press the [Upload] button. The ProVision software will upload the modified settings at the panel. When the process ends the software creates a text file that includes the panel's new informations and settings Export Import data [Export] button creates a file (*.epf), that contains all the customer's programming settings. With the created file the user can upload the same adjustments to another customer. [Import] button allows the user to insert an.epf file. 31
