1 General Information 1.1 General This manual contains instructions for installation, commissioning, maintenance and repair of the Poolcontrol DYNAMICS system. The safety instructions and notes in bold type are to be observed at all times! 1.2 Notes in bold In this technical information, the bold headings CAUTION, WARNING and NOTE have the following meaning: CAUTION: This heading is used if failure to observe the operating or working instructions or prescribed procedures, or incorrect observation of such instructions and the like can lead to accident or personal injury. WARNING: This heading is used if failure to observe the operating or working instructions or prescribed procedures, or incorrect observation of such instructions and the like can lead to damage to the equipment. NOTE: This heading is used to draw special attention to important points. 1.3 Warranty The manufacturer guarantees the operating safety and reliability of the system only if the following conditions are observed: -Installation, connection, adjustment, maintenance and repairs are only carried out by authorised and qualified specialist personnel. - Only original replacement parts are used for repairs. -The Poolcontrol DYNAMICS is used in accordance with the instructions given in this manual. WARNING: The use of concentrated hydrochloric acid in the immediate vicinity of the unit invalidates the guarantee. Wearing parts are not covered by the warranty (see table in chapter 9) 5

Operating Instructions 1.4 Safety Instructions The Poolcontrol DYNAMICS is manufactured and tested in accordance with DIN EN / VDE and left the factory in a safe condition. In order to maintain this condition and to ensure a continued safe operation, the user must observe the notes and warnings contained in this technical manual. If it must be assumed that a safe operation is no longer possible, the system must be switched off and taken out of service, and made safe against accidental operation. This is the case: -if the system shows visible evidence of damage. -if the system is apparently no longer in working order. -after longer periods of storage under unfavourable conditions. 1.5 Transport damage The Poolcontrol DYNAMICS is carefully packed by us for the purpose of transport. Please check that the delivery is complete and undamaged. Any transport damage must be notified immediately (carrier). The system must never be subjected to temperatures outside a range of -20 to +65 C (transport and interim storage). Subject to technical changes and modifications in the composition of components. 1.6 Regular control of water values The use of an automatic measuring, control and dosing system does not release you from the obligation of checking the water values at regular intervals, preferably every week. You can check the values by means of a manual measuring device or using a Photolyser. In this way, it can be ensured that any deviations from standard values are recognized immediately and can be removed. It also means that you can prevent expensive consequential damage to your pool, e.g. as can be caused by corrosion. Please contact your pool specialist dealer for further information and regarding any questions about checking the water values. 1.7 Deviations in ph control measurements Certain water conditions can result in deviations of the measured ph value with different measuring methods, i.e. electronic meters and controllers and colorimetric or photometric measuring devices. These deviations are dependent of the sample water and can be up to 0.4 ph; they cannot be corrected. Deviations of this kind are caused by so-called "Salt errors of colorimetric ph measurement". Certain types of salt contained in the water (enrichment due to evaporation) influence the reagent used for measurement (phenol red), which results in deviating measuring results. Electric measuring devices are not affected by this. In these cases, a different electric measuring device (calibrated with two calibration solutions) should be used for carrying out a comparative measurement. The electric measurement will in any case produce a more precise ph value, provided the measuring, control and dosing unit has been properly calibrated. 6

Operating Instructions Note: This manual includes all available menu items. Remember that, depending on the selected code, the device will not display all menu items/not all menu items can be selected. 6.3 Device configuration - Code D ---Main menu--- Code: D > Device configuration Device configuration Calibration > Disinfection Free chlorine Setpoint adjustments ph raise or flocculation ph raise Temperature compensation Relay settings Device data Language: German Factory settings: no Use or to select the desired configuration, for example: free chlorine. Confirm with the Eingabe / ENTER button. As described in chapter 3.1, the Poolcontrol DYNAMICS is adjustable to 2 disinfection methods and several measuring modes. You can make your selection here. The measurement methods Free chlorine or Poolcare should only be selected if an additional board is installed for the potentiostatic chlorine measurement. Note: All device configurations include measurement and control of ph Disinfection: Free chlorine Poolcare Redox measurement Poolcare time-controlled Disinfection: Poolcare Redox measurement Measurements of the measurement parameter "Free chlorine" and corresponding control. Measurements of the measurement parameter "Poolcare" and corresponding control. Measurement of the redox value as auxiliary parameter for chlorine and bromine and control on the redox value. Time-controlled addition of Poolcare in uniform (constant) partial quantities per day, depending on pool size and circulation times. a) Measured: Poolcare is measured and controlled. Precondition is the use of Poolcare measuring electrode and a potentiostatic, additional board. As part of this choice, Poolcare set points, warning and alarm values can be adjusted. b) Time-controlled: see explanation below. The appropriate chlorine or bromine value is adjusted via the measured redox value as auxiliary parameter value. 16

Free chlorine The chlorine value is measured and controlled by means of a measuring electrode for free chlorine and a potentiostatic measuring board. ph raise or flocculation or off (relay 3) a) ph raise: This specifies whether relay 3 will drive a second ph correction pump. The corresponding controller is activated. b) Flocculation: It is alternatively possible to connect a flocculant pump to relay 3. Relay 3 is energized when the PC DYNAMICS is dosing. In case of a ph level alarm or a water deficiency, this relay turns off. c) Off: The relay has not been assigned to any controller and is not required Time-controlled dosing of Poolcare Note: In case of the time-controlled dosing of Poolcare, the dosing monitoring is not active Explanation The required amount of Poolcare is calculated from your entries for pool size, capacity of the dosage pump and daily circulation time 9. This dosing quantity is added, distributed over time. Variable pause 10 sec. Variable pause 10 sec. /// Variable pause 10 sec. Variable pause /// Dosing Poolcare is switched on In case of this choice, Poolcare set points, warning and alarm values cannot be adjusted. During each daily circulation time, there is at least one dosing that lasts 10 seconds. The dosage pump is always controlled with the maximum control variable (100%) Manual continuous dosing in case of Poolcare (time-controlled)) - Initial dosing Manual continuous dosing (initial dosing) allows a fasts addition of water treatment chemicals to a pool, e.g. during commissioning. The manual continuous dosing mode is started by pressing the button for 5 seconds. This button can also be used to interrupt this mode. It can be restarted at any time. The preset dosage quantity is 1l/10m³. 9 These parameters are adjustable under Set points for Poolcare. 17

Operating Instructions After expiry of the manual continuous dosing (initial dosing), the system changes to the maintenance dosage mode according to your settings (pool volume - circulation time - fine-dosing). No further settings are necessary. Warning: Please ensure that the filter system will run for at least 12 hours after the basic dosing quantity has been added. During a power failure of the device, the manual continuous dosing is terminated Settings ph raise / flocculation / off Device configuration Disinfection > ph raise or flocculation ph raise Redox measurement: One of the following three functions is assigned to relay 3: ph raise Relay 3 controls a dosage pump. This pump can convey the appropriate chemicals for raising the ph level. Flocculation Relay 3 turns a pump on, which can be used for adding flocculant to the pool water. This pump is always running when the dosing function of the PC DYNAMICS is enabled. In case of a ph level alarm or a water deficiency, this relay turns off. off The relay has not been assigned to any controller and is not required Display of redox measurement Device configuration Disinfection ph raise or flocculation: > Redox measurement yes This menu is displayed for the device configuration "Free chlorine". You can decide at this point if you want to measure and display the redox value in addition. The redox value has no control function in this case. 6.4 Calibration - Code B A calibration of the Poolcare probes is required when there are great deviations in the automatic and manual measurements of Poolcare. It is also required every time there is a new / re-commissioning. Code B must be set to be able to carry out a calibration Calibration chlorine Note: The following description refers to the setting: "Free chlorine, measured". When the chlorine level is controlled by the ORP level, you must set the disinfectant content by means of the set points (see chapter 6.5.2). 18

Without a sufficient chlorine content in pools, it is not possible to carry out a calibration. The content should be 0.3 mg/l at least. If there is no chlorine in the pool, set the value as follows: - Start the manual continuous dosing, see chapter "Control parameter. - Add chlorine to the pool or whirlpool in this way until the desired content (e.g mg/l free chlorine) is reached. For previously non-chlorinated water, you will need approx ml of dinochlorine liquid per 10 m 3 pool volume. If the content of chlorine in the pool is sufficient, the above steps are not required. The content is to be checked with a suitable measuring instrument (e.g. Pooltester or Photolyser). Once the required content has been checked and found to be constant over several measurements, the Poolcontrol DYNAMICS can be calibrated. Enter the measured chlorine level under "DPD value". Calibration > Calibration chlorine Calibration chlorine Calibration Poolcare > Measured value chlorine 0.40mg/l Calibration ph Slope 25 mv Input voltage 47 mv DPD value 0.40 mg/l Calibration reset No This value will be accepted after a short delay. The calibration of the chlorine probe is complete. The slope of the probe is calculated and displayed. Note: During the chlorine calibration, an entry of a DPD value below 0.10 mg/l is ignored Slope of the chlorine probe The probe slope is a ratio and indicates how much voltage (in mv) is generated by the chlorine probe per 0.1 mg/l chlorine. Ideal: 25 mv per 0.1 mg of chlorine per liter water. Under certain conditions (thermal water or dissolved minerals), the slope can be lower or higher. During operation, the slope of the electrode is reduced gradually over time. Note that this statement refers only to the behaviour of the probe and not to the slope displayed in the Poolcontrol DYNAMICS, which will be re-calculated during the next calibration. On reaching the lower (5 mv) or upper limit value (50 mv), an error message is displayed. When this error message is displayed, the chlorine probe must be cleaned (and re-calibrated afterward), or renewed. 19

Operating Instructions Calibration Poolcare Note: The following description refers to the setting: "Poolcare measured and controlled". Without a sufficient Poolcare content in pools, it is not possible to carry out a calibration. The content should be 20 mg/l at least. If there is no Poolcare in the pool, set the value as follows: - Start the manual continuous dosing (initial dosing), see chapter "Control parameter. - Add Poolcare to the pool or whirlpool in this way until the desired content (e.g mg/l Poolcare) is reached. In water that was free of Poolcare previously, you will need about ml of Poolcare OXA per 10 m 3 pool volume. If the content of Poolcare in the pool is sufficient, the above steps are not required. The content is to be checked with a suitable measuring instrument (e.g. Pooltester or Photolyser). Once the required content has been checked and found to be constant over several measurements, the Poolcontrol DYNAMICS can be calibrated. The calibration is carried out analogous to that of the chlorine probe. Calibration Calibration chlorine > Calibration Poolcare Calibration Poolcare Calibration ph > Measured value Poolcare 25 mg/l Slope 25 mv *l/mg Input voltage 47 mv DPD value 40 mg/l Calibration reset No Note: During the Poolcare calibration, an entry of a value below 5 mg/l is ignored. With service code C, it is also possible to carry out a calibration with a value below 5 mg/l. In case of the operating mode "Poolcare time-controlled", a DPD calibration for Poolcare is not required. It is, however, strongly recommended to carry out regular control measurements. 20

Probe of Poolcare probe The probe slope is a ratio and indicates how much voltage (in mv) is generated by the Poolcare probe per 10 mg/l Poolcare. Ideal: 100 mv / 10 mg/l. On reaching the lower (20 mv) or upper limit value (200 mv), an error message is displayed. When this error message is displayed, the Poolcare probe must be cleaned (and re-calibrated afterward), or renewed Calibration ph The calibration is selected via the menu Calibration - Calibration ph. Calibration Calibration chlorine Calibration Poolcare > Calibration ph Calibration ph > Type of calibration Two-point Measured value ph 7.1 ph Slope 54 mv/ph Zero point 0 mv Input voltage 7 mv Photometric value 7.0 ph Calibration reset No Setting the type of calibration - Code D There are two ways to carry out a calibration: 1. The "two-point calibration" (by means of buffer solutions ph 4 and ph 7) - factory default setting 2. The "one-point calibration" (entry of a photometric value) The one-point calibration (photometric value) In this type of calibration, the ph probe is left in the measuring cell together with the attached measuring cable. Measure the ph level with a suitable test kit (e.g. Pooltester or Photolyser). The established value is used for calibration of the Poolcontrol DYNAMICS: Calibration ph Type of calibration One-point Measured value ph 7.1 ph Slope 54 Input voltage 7 mv > Photometer value 7.3 ph Calibration reset No 21

Operating Instructions Take the pointer on the line Photometer value and enter the measured value. Press the enter button to complete the calibration. The zero point of the probe is re-calculated and displayed. The slope is fixed at 58 mv/ph. Warning: The slope of the probe is taken over as fixed value. A change in the slope of the probe is not registered in case of a one-point calibration. As a result, this type of calibration can lead to greater deviations in the measurement result. If the voltages should be outside the above-stated range during the calibration process, or if a correct calibration is not possible for other reasons, a new line is displayed with the message Carry out calibration reset. Change to "Yes" and confirm with the enter button. In this way, you will reset the factory default settings and can start a new calibration. Note: If you select No, the faulty calibration is still accepted, but the wrong ph values and associated error messages will be displayed later during operation. Always try to find the cause of a failed calibration and then carry out another one Two-point calibration (by means of buffer solutions ph 4 and ph 7) You need calibration solutions ph 4 and ph 7 with the red and green covers to carry out a 2-point calibration. The procedure for cleaning and calibration of the ph probe is shown for the P204 version with the measuring cell as an example. In some system types, the ph probe can remain in the cell during the calibration (see measuring cell instructions). 1. Close the ball valves for the sample water. 2. Unscrew the measuring probe from the measuring cell, the measuring cable is left in the probe (the connector rotates simultaneously). 3. Dry the ph probe with a soft paper towel before calibrating it, or clean it with probe cleaner ( ) first, if required. 4. Open the menu item Calibration Calibration ph Type of calibration Two-point Measured value ph 7.1 ph Slope 54 Zero point -12 mv Input voltage 7 mv > Calibration ph 4 / ph ph 5. Place the probe in buffer solution ph 7.0. The displayed "Measured value ph" should fluctuate around 7 ph. Take the pointer > on the line "Calibration ph4/ph7. The value in this line must jump to 7.0 ph. After this value has stabilised (after about 1-2 minutes), press the enter button to confirm. 6. The same procedure applies to the calibration with buffer solution ph 4.0 afterwards. The displayed value should fluctuate around 4 ph. The value in the line Calibration ph4/ph7 must jump to 4 ph and must remain stable. After pressing the enter button to confirm, the calibration of the ph probe is completed. 7. Screw the probe back into the measuring cell. 8. Re-open the ball valves for the sample water. 22

After each calibration, the slope of the probe and the zero point deviation are recalculated and displayed. NOTE: Please observe the information about maintenance and servicing of the probes (enclosed with WARNING: Before immersing the ph probe into the buffer solutions, flush the probe with water and dry it with a soft paper towel. NOTE: The calibration process is not complete when the voltage of the ph probe is outside of the following values in case of a 2-point calibration: o -58 mv and + 58 mv for ph = 7 and o +116 mv and +232 mv for ph = 4 If the voltages should be outside the above-stated range during the calibration process, or if a correct calibration was not possible for other reasons, a new line is displayed with the message Carry out calibration reset. Place the arrow > on this line and use the arrow keys to change to "Yes." In this way, you will reset the factory default settings and can start a new calibration. Note: If you select No, the faulty calibration is still accepted, but the wrong ph values and associated error messages will be displayed later during operation. Always try to find the cause of a failed calibration and then carry out another one Interrogating slope/zero-point of the ph probe It is possible to query data on slope and zero-point deviation of the ph probe for verification. The query is made via the menu navigation. NOTE: The displayed zero point should be within a range of 0 mv ± 58 mv Explanation slope of ph probe The probe slope is a ratio and indicates how much voltage (in mv) is generated by the ph probe per ph. Ideal: 58 mv / ph. A new ph probe can generate a maximum of 58.2 mv/ph. During operation, the slope of the probe is reduced over time. Note that this statement refers only to the behaviour of the probe and not to the slope displayed in the Poolcontrol DYNAMICS, which will be re-calculated during the next calibration. As soon as the slope falls below 50 mv/ph, the probe should not be used any longer. The slope of the probe is recalculated every time the electrode is calibrated. 23

Operating Instructions Explanation zero point ph probe Physically, the zero point of a new ph electrode is 7.00 ph. This corresponds to an output measurement voltage of 0 mv. Due to temperature influences etc. this value can be slightly different (max ph). During operation, the zero point can go up or down. Note that this statement refers only to the behaviour of the probe and not to the zero-point displayed in the Poolcontrol DYNAMICS, which will only be re-calculated during the next calibration. If the deviation from 7.00 ph exceeds 1 ph (= +/- 58 mv), the ph probe must not be used any longer. The zero point of a probe is recalculated every time the probe is calibrated Interrogating the input voltage of the ph probe It is possible to have the current input voltage of the ph electrode displayed for testing purposes. 24

Operating Instructions Setting of disinfectant content (redox measurement) Note: The following description refers to the setting: "Redox". When the level of free chlorine is measured and controlled with a chlorine electrode, you must set the disinfectant content by means of the DPD method (see chapter 6.4.1). The redox potential (ORP) is a so-called auxiliary parameter value, which, being a measure of the germ-killing speed, is used as a control value for the chlorine content. In general, the higher the ORP value, the better the disinfection of the water. The system is set to a redox set point of 650 mv at the works. Experience has shown that, when using this value, the control will set an appropriate chlorine level of mg of chlorine/l. You should check the chlorine content regularly with a suitable measuring instrument (e.g. Pooltester or Photolyser). If it is too high, adjust the redox set point to a lower value, for example to 625 mv. If, on the other side, the chlorine content is too low, increase the redox set point. Redox > Set point 625 mv Alert value lower 600 mv Alarm value lower 550 mv The bromine content is set in the same way. Note: Since there is no linear relationship between the ORP value and the chlorine content, it can happen that chlorine levels will differ even when the redox value is the same, for example after a backwash is carried out or fresh water is added. This is not a malfunction of the Poolcontrol DYNAMICS. 26

6.5.3 Setpoint settings for Poolcare When setting the Poolcare set points, a distinction is made between: measured and controlled dosing of Poolcare, or time-controlled Poolcare dosing measured and controlled: The descriptions and parameters given for chlorine in chapter apply also in this case. The explanations about controller values apply accordingly Poolcare dosing time-controlled: Dosing is made dependent on time using constant quantities every day. The following setting parameters allow you to adjust the amount of Poolcare to fit your conditions: Poolcare time-controlled > Pool volume 50 m³ Circulation time 12 h Pump capacity 4.50 l/h Precision dosing 0 % Circulation time: The required amount of Poolcare is added over the running time of your pump. If necessary, read this from your filter control settings. Pump capacity: The capacity (liters/hour) of your Poolcare dosage pump is entered here. Correct this value after changing the pump hose size or after changing the capacity manually on the pump itself. Precision dosing: The precision dosing is used for adapting to external influences. In case of an outdoor pool, for example, less Poolcare is required when the weather is cloudy; when it is sunny, much more Poolcare is needed. The dosage should also be increased when several bathers go into the pool at the same time. -20 % 0 +20% Low load Normal load High load (e.g. in bad weather) (e.g. in case of sunshine) If the precision dosing is set to 0, a maintenance dosing of about 0.5 l Poolcare per 10 cubic meters of the pool size can be assumed per week. Note: Dosing is always carried with 100% capacity control of the pump. The continuous dosing time monitoring is disabled in the "Poolcare time-controlled mode. It is possible that the Poolcare pump will only be activated after a certain time (up to 30 minutes). 27

Operating Instructions Setpoint settings for ph The adjustment of the set points for the ph control is made analogous to that for chlorine (see chapter 6.5.1). The explanations about controller values apply accordingly as well Switch-on delay - Code B / Alarm delay - (Code D) Setpoint adjustments > Chlorine--->>> Redox ph Switch-on delay 5 min. Alarm delay 5 min. Sample water control --->>> After any interruption in the operation (e.g. initial commissioning, backwash or activation of the circulation), it normally takes some longer until representative sample water is available. In order to prevent a resulting overdosing, a switch-on delay time should be set. The alarm delay prevents an alarm from being triggered due to a short overshoot. Note: Both of these settings apply globally to all controllers. The switch-on delay can be cancelled by pressing the ESC the next time the device is switched on (power is restored). key for 5 seconds. It is reactivated Sample water control (Code C) Setpoint adjustments Chlorine ph Switch-on delay 5 min. Alarm delay 5 min. > Sample water monitoring Sample water control > Flow 0.0 l/h Flow rate 50 p/l Minimum flow 15 l/h The sample water monitoring can be carried out with a simple float switch (normally open) or with an impeller meter with pulse output. For the measuring systems - Redox & ph - Poolcare (time-controlled) & ph as well as - ph as A float switch is used for sample water monitoring. The flow rate is then set to 0 pulses/liter. The parameter entered in the field 'Minimum flow' is not evaluated. 28

6.5.7 Control parameter (Code D) You can individually adjust the set points for control and dosing parameters for each controller (chlorine, Poolcare, ORP and ph), As an example, this is shown for ph control below: ---Main menu English--- Code 11 Device configuration Calibration > Setpoint adjustments Setpoint adjustments Temperature compensation > Chlorine>>> Relay settings Redox Device data ph Language: German Switch-on delay 5 min. Alarm delay 10 min. ph value Set points ph > ph control Control Dosing settings > P-band Reset time Storage time Dead band P-band i t Set A virtual control range is defined around the set point, the so-called P-band (proportional band). If the measured value is outside this P-band, dosing is carried out with 100 % of the dosing capacity. If the measured value exceeds the P-band, dosing is reduced in line with the P- band until dosing stops altogether on reaching the set point. Hysteresis An adjustable range around the set point. When the set point has been reached, the controller will stop dosing. Only when the hysteresis range was run through (downward), the controller will start again with dosing. 29

Operating Instructions Set point Hysteresis Reset time The integral gain of the PID-control. Storage time The derivative gain of the PID-control. This is fixed. Dead band Adjustable range around the set point where there is no dosing. Is especially required when two ph pumps are used (raise and reduced). This will prevent a fast and continuous switching between the activation of both pumps Manual continuous dosing / Initial dosing (Code D) You can individually adjust the duration of a manual continuous dosing for each controller (chlorine, Poolcare, redox and ph) in the set points settings. As an example, this is shown for ph control below: ---Main menu English--- Code 11 Device configuration Calibration > Setpoint adjustments Setpoint adjustments Temperature compensation > Chlorine>>> Relay settings Redox Device data ph Language: German Switch-on delay 5 min. Alarm delay 10 min. ph value Set points ph ph control > Dosing settings Dosing settings > Man.continuous dosing 5 min Dosing time control 60 min 30

Manual continuous dosing allows you to quickly add water treatment chemicals to a pool, e.g. during commissioning. The manual continuous dosing is switched on and off with the buttons and, by pressing it for at least 5 seconds. Depending on your settings, the pumps work with the maximum power control. After expiry of the manual continuous dosing time they are switched off and the system changes to the dosing mode. The dosing time monitoring is ignored. You can interrupt the manual continuous dosing at any time with the above buttons. When the Poolcontrol DYNAMICS is set to the operating mode "Poolcare (time-controlled)", you have to carry out the manual continuous dosing as described in Note: The manual dosing only starts the dosage pump for ph reduce Dosing time control (Code C) You can individually adjust the duration of the dosing time monitoring for each controller (chlorine, Poolcare, ORP and ph) in the set points settings. As an example, this is shown for ph control below: ---Main menu English--- Code 11 Device configuration Calibration > Setpoint adjustments Setpoint adjustments Temperature compensation > Chlorine--->>> Relay settings Redox Device data ph Language: German Switch-on delay 5 min. Alarm delay 10 min. ph value Set points ph ph control > Dosing settings Dosing settings > Man.continuous dosing 5 min Dosing time control 60 min In case that the dosing function does not reach 100 % of the dosing capacity within the time entered for the P-band or the set point, it is assumed that there could be an error (broken hose etc.). For safety reasons, the dosing function is switched off in this case. If the dosing time monitoring should have responded, check the reason and acknowledge by pressing the The dosing time monitoring is deactivated with setting "O". button for 5 seconds. 31

Operating Instructions 6.6 Temperature compensation - Code C Physically, ph measurements are shifted due to temperatures. As a general rule, the technical data states 18 C for new electrodes. For this reason, the default for temperature compensation is 28 C in the basic settings of the Poolcontrol DYNAMICS. When using a temperature sensor PT1000, the measured temperature can be used (setting "automatic"). The ph measuring values are then adjusted in accordance with the corresponding factors. Please select whether the temperature is compensated related to a fixed value (manually, in this example 29 C) or to the measured value (automatic). ---Main menu English--- Code C Device configuration Calibration Setpoint adjustment > Temperature compensation Temperature compensation Relay settings > Compensation Manual Device data Manual compensation 28 C Language: German When the manual temperature compensation is enabled, this is indicated in the display: 28. In case of the automatic compensation, the following is displayed: 28 Note on the temperature The water temperature is displayed in tenth of a degree. Since most of the time the water temperature is not measured right in the swimming pool / whirlpool, it is possible that there are minor deviations between the displayed temperature and the water temperature measured right in the pool. The possibility for correction is not provided. In implement the measurement and display of the water temperature, a temperature sensor type PT1000 must be connected. 6.7 Relay settings - Code D In the menu Relay settings, you can adjust each controller separately to different controller types. This makes it possible to operate different pumps and dosing devices with the Poolcontrol DYNAMICS. The following screen shows an example of the possibilities for the disinfectant control. The settings apply accordingly for all controls and the alarm relay. Disinfection relay > Controller type ON-OFF Pulse frequency 7000 p/h Duration of period 10 sec. Minimum pulse 2 sec. Controller type On/Off controller When reaching the set point, the dosing system is switched off; when falling below the set point, the dosing system is switched on. Used for example in electrolysis plants or contactors, which are switched via the set point. A hysteresis value must be entered in this case. 32

NOTE: In case of on-off control, the P-band is not evaluated. The set hysteresis, on the other hand, affects the switching behaviour. Controller type: Pulse frequency This controller type can be used, for example, for control of diaphragm dosage pumps, type dinodos mega-hf (frequency control). The controller delivers a certain number of pulses per hour for this purpose. In our example, the setting is 7000 pulses/h. As the dosing requirement decreases, the number of pulses is reduced. Controller type: Pulse/Pause Duration of period (10-60 sec.) Pulse Pause The dosing rate of the connected pump is the result of a linear relation of pulse length (pulse) and pause (pulse interval relation) of the switching condition on the relay. The period length is defined as the time between the closing operations; the pulse length as the time during which the contact remains closed. The minimum pulse length (minimum pulse) of a period is 2 seconds, the maximum is 60 seconds. As the dosing requirement decreases, the length of pulses is reduced, the pauses are longer. 6.8 Device data Device data > Device number 1234 Software version 0111 Date of manufacture 0111 Manufacturer Seconds In this menu you will find all important data about your device. You also find the contact data for the dinotec service hotline here. Please have the device data ready when you need to contact the service hotline. 6.9 Languages At present (November 2010) the following languages are available: - German - English - Russian - French - Spanish Further languages will be implemented. 33

Operating Instructions 7 Maintenance and servicing The housing must only be wiped with a damp cloth; the use of sharp, caustic or abrasive cleaning agents (acid cleaners, lyes, etc.) is not permitted! The Poolcontrol DYNAMICS is easy to maintain, but should be checked and maintained at regular intervals by a specialist technician. Please observe the following information on maintenance and servicing of the Poolcontrol DYNAMICS as well as the separate manuals, e.g. for dosage pumps and probes. The device does not include any components that can be repaired or replaced by the user. It is not necessary for this reason to unscrew any parts, open the device or disassemble it. Our experience has shown that many reasons for complaint can be solved in the course of a telephone conversation. If you have any problems with your device, please contact the dinotec service hotline first. This will save you time and possibly trouble. Our service hotline staff will be happy to explain our warranty policy and repair processing in detail to you, and how to proceed in case you need to return your device. If you have any further questions regarding our measuring, control and dosing system, please contact your dinotec pool dealer or our service department, who will be happy to help. 7.1 Cleaning and calibrating the electrodes Depending on the water quality, the electrodes (probes) are to be cleaned every 4 to 5 weeks (or more frequently, if required, e.g. in case of strongly ferrous water or salt deposits in case of brine), and the ph electrode recalibrated. Check the electrodes for any mechanical damage (e.g. breakage of glass) and wipe them dry with a soft paper towel. If there is scaling on the probe surface, the probes are immersed in a special liquid probe cleaner ( ) for about 1 minute and then rinsed thoroughly with water. - If the metal pin of the redox electrode shows a brown coating, the metal pin is to be cleaned with cleaning paste ( ) and to be washed up with clear water. Afterwards, dry the ph electrode with a soft paper towel. A calibration is not required in this case. - The redox electrode is wear-free, provided there is no mechanical damage. - The service life of ph electrodes and chlorine electrodes depends to a high degree on operating conditions and maintenance. The normal service life is between 1 and 2 years. Both ph electrodes and chlorine electrodes are wearing parts. WARNING: Before taking the probes out, switch all dosing processes off and close the sample water supply and drain lines. NOTE: Deposits on the diaphragm of the ph probe can result in malfunction (ph value jumps). If this is the case, the probe is to be cleaned with a liquid probe cleaner. WARNING: Other acids or cleaning agents can destroy the probes. 34

Operating Instructions 8.2 Resetting of alarms There are alarm messages that will be displayed for your information, also after the cause has been removed. These alarm messages must be acknowledged. To do this, press the button for at least 5 seconds. Each time this button is pressed, all current alarms are reset, provided the particular error has been removed/corrected. 8.3 Switch-off when dosing container is empty An empty dosing tank results in a shutdown of the dosing function concerned 10. If the dosing of ph is shut down as a result, the disinfectant dosage will automatically be adjusted as well. Conversely, the dosing of ph remains active if the disinfectant is missing. The alarm relay is activated, the alarm is reset automatically after the fault is cleared. 8.4 Control limits The dosing for Rx and ph is only released when the measured values are within specific limits. If this is not the case, a failure of probe or measuring input is assumed and there is no dosing. If one of the values is outside this limit, a corresponding error message is displayed in the bottom line of the display. Limits: Redox: mV ph: 3-12 Note: If the actual value is outside these limits during commissioning, the value must be adjusted first by adding chemicals until it is within the requested range. For information about the procedure, refer to the chapter Calibration chlorine. 10 When using suitable suction lances. 36
