1 BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION The following is a collection of biographical information on the conference speakers, moderators, and course instructor arranged alphabetically. Barry Anderson IHS Inc. Barry Anderson has held a variety of responsibilities in his 20 year career with IHS including Senior Sales Executive - Government, Sales Manager - Eastern Canada, VP Corporate Sales - Canada and currently as Senior Account Executive. His broad knowledge of industries such as Aerospace, Defence, Government, Energy and Automotive combined with his understanding of the need for technical standards and engineering data has made him a trusted business partner and resource. Throughout his career with IHS, Barry has been an active participant with many standards organizations including the Canadian Standards Association, ASTM International, the American Society of Mechanical Engineers, SAE International, and many more. His industry experience has assisted these organizations in developing products that better suit the end users needs and an understanding of where the industry is focusing for future requirements. Andrew Bank Thomson Reuters/Techstreet Andrew Bank started his career in the standards business by building a standards distribution company for the 21 st century. In 1994, fresh out of engineering school at the University of Michigan, Mr. Bank and a friend started Techstreet, Inc., Ann Arbor, Mich., a fully web-based provider of codes and standards in electronic format. Their idea blossomed into a number of different products and services including an enterprise subscription service used today by small, medium, and Fortune 500 companies, an advanced online store, and a software-as-a-service product which helps SDOs market, sell, and deliver their content through customized web stores. After being acquired by Thomson Reuters in 2003, Mr. Bank was retained and now helps the business find new sales channels for industry standards, and new ways to integrate standards into users workflow. David Bradley ASTM International David Bradley has worked at ASTM International, West Conshohocken, Pa., for 26 years and is currently a director in the Technical Committees Operations Division. He provides the staff management support for Committee D02 on Petroleum Products and Lubricants, the largest ASTM committee with over 2,400 members and jurisdiction over more than 725 standards. He has managed the ASTM Interlaboratory Crosscheck and Proficiency Testing Programs, which include testing related to petroleum, plastics, metals and textiles. Mr. Bradley holds a BA in business and economics from Emory and Henry College. Craig Camplong RM Solutions Craig Camplong is an independent consultant with 28 years of experience in the field of occupational health, safety, environment and product safety. He is the former manager of HSE for Indal Limited and manager, environment and product safety for Union Carbide Canada Limited. He has developed and audited management systems for a variety of organizations in the automotive, forestry, textiles, paper, petrochemical, plastics, mining, manufacturing and public sectors. As a consultant over the last 14 years, Mr. Camplong has assisted a variety of organizations in various sectors in implementing management systems including ISO 9001 and ISO He has conducted training

2 seminars on ISO auditing and system development. Mr. Camplong has also conducted legislative compliance audits of manufacturing facilities across Canada and in the U.S. As an assessor for the Standards Council of Canada he audits registrars for accreditation under ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO (medical devices), CSA Z-809 (sustainable forest management) and ISO (personnel certification). Mr. Camplong is a lead auditor for the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change. He is vice chairman of the SCC Task Group on Management Systems. As a former member of the Canadian Standards Association Technical Committee on Environmental Auditing, Mr. Camplong developed the first draft of a Canadian standard for environmental legislative compliance auditing. He holds a bachelor of environmental studies degree. Arthur E. Cote Chairman, ANSI Board of Directors Arthur E. Cote has been involved in the U.S. voluntary consensus standards system for over 40 years. Prior to his retirement in 2006, Mr. Cote was executive vice president and chief engineer at the National Fire Protection Association, Quincy, Mass. In this position, he was responsible for all of the technical operations of the association, including the overall administration of the NFPA codes and standards development process, which develops the more than 300 fire and electrical safety codes and standards that comprise the National Fire Codes. During his 30 years at NFPA, Mr. Cote was editor in chief of five editions of the Fire Protection Handbook, including the new 20th edition; co-authored the 2nd edition of Principles of Fire Protection; and was editor in chief of Fundamentals of Fire Protection and the 3rd edition of the Industrial Fire Hazards Handbook. Mr. Cote is past president and fellow of the Society of Fire Protection Engineers, a member of SFPE s Educational and Scientific Foundation, and a member of the Standards Engineering Society. He is the immediate past vice chair of the Confederation of Fire Protection Associations International, representing 26 major fire protection associations around the world. He has been active in the American National Standards Institute for many years and became chairman of the ANSI board of directors in January In 2006, Mr. Cote was honored with the American Fire Sprinkler Association s highest award, the Henry S. Parmelee Award. The following year, he received the 2007 Standards Engineering Society s Leo B. Moore Medal. Mike Dickerson CSA America Mike Dickerson is the product manager, personnel certification for CSA America, Cleveland, Ohio. CSA America develops standards for gas equipment, fuel cells and related energy sectors, provides personnel certification services, and participates in other national and international standards activities. In his role at CSA America, Mr. Dickerson is responsible for the development and management of personnel certification programs including Greenhouse Gas Verifier, and the Compressed Natural Gas Fuel System Inspector certifications. Currently he is working with stakeholder groups to develop a personnel certification program for GHG Inventory Quantifier to add to CSA s growing climate change portfolio. CSA America s personnel certification programs are developed, operated and maintained under the structure of ISO 17024: Conformity assessment general requirements for bodies operating certification of persons. Mr. Dickerson is a veteran of the United States Navy and earned his bachelor of science degree from the New School University and a masters of business administration degree from John Carroll University. He has 13 years of technical, project and business management experience in the areas of manufacturing, telecommunication and standards development. Mr. Dickerson joined CSA America in Jean-Paul Emard Alliance for Telecommunications Industry Solutions Jean-Paul Emard, since March 1999, has served as a director of industry forums for the Alliance for Telecommunications Industry Solutions, Washington, D.C. He is responsible for overseeing the operations of a number of the ATIS-sponsored committees charged with developing standards, guidelines, and providing educational initiatives. He represents ATIS on a number of American National Standards Institute committees

3 dealing with national and international standards policies and standards processes. Mr. Emard also is responsible for the processing, publication, and distribution of ATIS standards via its various distribution outlets. Currently, Mr. Emard serves on the board of directors of the Center for Global Standards Analysis and formerly served on the SES board of directors for eight years. He was the editor of Standards Engineering, the society's bimonthly journal, for six years. He is the current vice chairman of the ANSI Organizational Member Forum. Previously, Mr. Emard served for three years as staff vice president for Standards and Technology, Engineering Department, Electronic Industries Alliance (EIA), where he managed the day-to-day operations and strategic direction of standards development and international standards activities within the various associations and groups within EIA and as EIA s representative to various national standards committees. Prior to joining EIA in February 1997, Mr. Emard served for eight years as the Director of Standards Secretariats, Information Technology Industry Council where he was responsible for the operations of both the domestic and international groups responsible for information technology standardization. He represented ITI on a number of domestic standards committees and industry forums. William T. Fiske Intertek Testing Services NA Inc. William T. Fiske has been employed by Intertek Testing Services NA Inc., Cortland, N.Y., since August 1977; his current position is senior director, technical affairs. He is the principal technical authority to a worldwide testing and certification organization comprising 18 laboratories in the United States, three in Canada, 12 in Asia, nine in Europe, and one in Mexico. His main duty is coordinating technical committee participation by all Intertek employees in the Americas. Mr. Fiske has been the principal Intertek USA representative to the Worldwide System for Conformity Testing and Certification of Electrotechnical Equipment and Components (IECEE s) Committee of Certification Bodies and its subordinate organization, the Committee of Testing Laboratories, since Mr. Fiske serves on IECEE CMC Working Groups 4, 5, 12 and 16. He is also active in the IECEx Scheme, as a U.S. delegate to Ex TAG and Ex MC, and member of Ex TAG Working Groups 1, 4, 7 and 8, and also serves as treasurer of the USNC/IECEx. He is involved in standardization as well as conformity assessment, serving on technical committees of the Council for the Harmonization of Electrotechnical Standards of the Nations of the Americas (CANENA), the International Electrotechnical Commission, the International Society of Automation, the National Fire Protection Association and Underwriters Laboratories. Mr. Fiske has authored twelve articles relating to electrical product safety that were published in the IAEI News, one in IEEE PPIC Transactions, and addressed the Standards Engineering Society annual conference in Joy Fitzpatrick The Boeing Company As a senior standards specialist, Joy Fitzpatrick leads the External Standards Management Group for The Boeing Company, Seattle, Wash. She has been working in the standards organization at Boeing for 14 years. For the last three years, Ms. Fitzpatrick has been responsible for the administration of Boeing's participation in the development of external standards and the integration of those standards into the Boeing Standards System. She is responsible for developing a standards management strategy that leverages Boeing's development activities to support corporate goals and for conducting the benchmarking of administration at other standards developing organizations. Ms. Fitzpatrick is a member of the Standards Engineering Society, and represents Boeing in various roles at the Society of Automotive Engineers, the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers and the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics. She has recently joined the ANSI Committee on Education. Ms. Fitzpatrick has a bachelor of science degree from Oregon State University and in 2004 obtained an MBA from City University of Seattle. Chris Gift

4 Kavi Corporation Chris Gift is vice president of marketing at Kavi Corporation, Portland, Ore., a software-as-a-service company providing collaborative standards development solutions. Prior to joining Kavi in 2007, Gift held senior positions as director of marketing at Viacore, director of Marketing Strategy at Printrak International, and as an independent consultant for IBM. Gift has more than 15 years of experience in product development, communications and strategic planning across a variety of industries, focused primarily on IT services and products. Laura Hitchcock The Boeing Company Laura Hitchcock is senior standards specialist, standards strategy and policy, the Boeing Company, Seattle, Wash. She has over 35 years of diversified experience in standards, standards administration and management. Ms. Hitchcock s job involves working closely with many of Boeing s key technical affiliations. She chairs the Strategic Standardization Forum for Aerospace and the US TAG for ISO/TC20 on Aircraft and Space Vehicles. Ms. Hitchcock serves as vice-chair of the board of directors for the American National Standards Institute and is a current member of the board for SAE International and The American Society of Mechanical Engineers Codes and Standards. A senior member of the Standards Engineering Society, Ms. Hitchcock is a strong proponent of getting involved in technical standards activities as a way to encourage professional development while supporting the technical needs of industry. Stefan Janhager Standards Council of Canada Stefan Janhager is responsible for business and market development at the Standards Council of Canada, Ottawa, Ontario. In his current position, he provides advice on accreditation and standards solutions to government and industry, nationally and internationally. His activities relate to food (on-farm and off-farm), use of the International Organization for Standardization s ISO food safety management systems, sustainable forest management, environmental management systems for hog producers, greenhouse gas validation and verification, Cabinet Directive on Streamlining Regulations, market access and trade related issues. Prior to SCC, Mr. Janhager had over eight years of sustainability and environmental experiences with various private and public sector organizations in different fora. Fleurette Larente Canadian General Standards Board Fleurette Larente, a certification specialist, Canadian General Standards Board, Gatineau, Quebec, has over 25 years of experience as a procurement specialist at the federal, municipal and provincial levels of government and as a teacher of procurement and supply management courses. In addition to maintaining a busy work schedule, Ms. Larente has served on the board of directors for the Caisse Desjardins de Hull since 2000, and for the Purchasing Management Association of Canada District, La Vallée de l'outaouais, since She has also been an active member of PMAC since Ms. Larente holds a bachelor's degree in teaching from the Université du Québec as well as a certificate in administration and the professional designation of certified professional purchaser from the PMAC. Fred Leber Leber/Rubes Inc.

5 A graduate of Ryerson Polytechnic University in electronics and physics and co-founder and CEO of Leber/Rubes Inc., Toronto, Ontario, Fred Leber has over 30 years of experience in the fire protection and security industry, ranging from research and development to fire protection systems and building code application. Mr. Leber s active organizational participation includes being Canadian chair of International Organization for Standardization ISO/TC21/SC3, Fire Detection and Alarm Systems; chair of the Canadian Advisory Council to ISO/TC21 on Equipment for Fire Protection and Fire Fighting; fellow of the Society of Fire Protection Engineers; member of the National Fire Protection Association Standards Council; former board member of NFPA; member of the ULC Committee on Fire Alarm Equipment and Systems, its subcommittee on Installation, Inspection, Testing, and Verification of Fire Alarm Systems; and a member of NFPA 72 Technical Correlating Committee (National Fire Alarm Code); a technical expert on ISO/TC21/SC3/WG4, Control and Indicating Equipment, and Canadian co-chair for harmonization of U.S. and Canadian standards for fire protection equipment. Begonia Lojk Standards Council of Canada Begonia Lojk is manager, standards governance, Standards Council of Canada, Ottawa, Ontario. In 2002, she joined the Standards Council of Canada as the manager of standards programs. In 2003, Ms. Lojk took her current position, which provides the secretariat to the council s key policy committees on standards and consumer and public interest, and is the secretary of the Standards Development Organizations Advisory Committee, whose members are the heads of Canada s four SCC-accredited standards development bodies. She is responsible for SCC s participation at the international governance level (International Organization for Standardization and International Electrotechnical Commission) as well as supporting Canadians who hold international leadership positions. She is responsible for SCC s regional standards participation at the Pan American Standards Commission and oversees the support for participation in the Pacific Area Standards Congress. Ms. Lojk sits on the board of directors of COPANT and is Canada s representative in the Worldwide System for Conformity Testing and Certification of Electrotechnical Equipment and Components. Prior to the SCC, Ms. Lojk was a manager for four years with the Canadian Council of Professional Engineers. The first 14 years of her career were in engineering consulting, including municipal and environmental engineering, specializing in water, wastewater, environmental studies and public consultation. Stephen C. Lowell US Defense Standardization Program Office Stephen C. Lowell is the deputy director of the Defense Standardization Program Office, Fort Belvoir, Va., and has been with this office since 1985 in different capacities. From 1983 to 1985, he was the head of the Electrical, Materials, and Machinery Branch in the Naval Sea Systems Command's Standardization Program and Documents Division. He currently serves as a board director for the Center for Global Standards Analysis. Some of his most notable past positions include president of the Standards Engineering Society ( ), chairman of the Aerospace Materials Division of the Society of Automotive Engineers ( ), chairman of the American National Standards Institute s United States Standards Strategy Sub-Group on National Priorities and Processes ( ) and chairman of the Government/Industry Equal Partner Implementation Committee ( ). Mr. Lowell has been awarded the Robert H. Stearns Award from the National Defense Industries Association, an SES Fellowship and Distinguished Service Award, the SAE Technical Standards Board Outstanding Contribution Award, and Vice President Albert Gore s National Performance Review Award in recognition of his contributions to standards and standardization. He was also awarded first place for writing the winning paper in the 1997 and 1999 World Standards Day Paper Competition, and is certified in standards management.

6 Rose Maginniss American National Standards Institute Rose Maginniss currently serves as senior director, business development, at the American National Standards Institute, New York, N.Y. In this position she is responsible for the generation of new revenue opportunities, including partnerships and strategic alliances with content providers (SDOs and others), as well as alliances with commercial third parties. During her 14 years at ANSI, Ms. Maginniss has also been active in representing the U.S. positions at various business/sales related committees of the International Organization for Standardization and the International Electrotechnical Commission. Prior to joining ANSI in 1995, she held management positions in the commercial sales division, the international licensing division, and the aerospace defense division of the Northrop Grumman Corporation. Ms. Maginniss holds a bachelor of science degree from Adelphi University and has taken post-graduate courses at Dowling College. Mary C. McKiel U.S. Environmental Protection Agency Mary C. McKiel, Ph.D., has been in government service since 1976 and is currently the standards executive of the Environmental Protection Agency in Washington, D.C. Dr. McKiel s principle role at the agency since 1992 is to provide standards-related policy within EPA and assist agency offices in using and participating in the development of voluntary consensus standards. She is a member of the agency s Trade and Environment Task Force and works with the United States Trade Representative s Office on matters dealing with technical barriers to trade and environment. Dr. McKiel is an active participant in the Interagency Committee on Standards Policy. She has participated in numerous standards development committees, co-chaired the U.S. Technical Advisory Group on Environmental Management Systems (ISO 14001) and is now the chair of the U.S. Technical Advisory Group for ISO s standard on social responsibility. She has published numerous articles on standards and co-authored a book on life cycle assessment in standards. Dr. McKiel received a lifetime membership in the Standards Engineering Society in In 2008 she was honored by the American National Standards Institute with the George Wham medal for outstanding contributions to national and international standardization. Dr. McKiel served for eight years as vice chair of the American National Standards Institute s board of directors and currently chairs their National Policy Committee. She is a member of the board of directors of ASTM International and serves on the Environment and Public Health Advisory Council as well as the Management System Advisory Council of Underwriters Laboratories. Greg Monty Underwriters Laboratories Dr. Greg Monty is a director of technology in Underwriters Laboratories Corporate Research department, and leads the nanotechnology program. He initiated UL s restricted substance business as the director of research and development. Dr. Monty was also a driving force behind the recently formed UL Environmental, Inc., a group devoted to environmental performance validation and certification. Prior to UL, Dr. Monty was a professor at the University of Michigan and Arizona State University. At ASU he was also director of the Center for Solid-State Electronics Research and was responsible for stimulating various areas of research growth. Dr. Monty s career has focused on the semiconductor industry where he founded three separate start-up companies (two with IPOs) and developed semiconductor divisions within Motorola. He also worked for a nanotechnology company where he worked on carbon nanotubes, energy storage devices, hydrogen detectors, and field-emission displays. Dr. Monty has over 15 patents in semiconductor technology, nanotechnology, displays, and sensors. Dr. Monty holds a Ph.D. and Masters degree in electrical engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and a Bachelors degree from Purdue.

7 Brian Murphy Underwriters Laboratories of Canada Brian Murphy has been with Underwriters Laboratories of Canada in various capacities for over 30 years and is currently the manager of the Standards Department. During this time, he has been actively involved with the preparation and maintenance of over 200 ULC National Standards of Canada. He has also contributed to, and participated in, the development of a number of Standards Council of Canada publications concerned with the preparation and approval of National Standards and the adoption of International Standards. He is currently an active member of many standards-related committees and associations including the ULC Standards Review Council, the Canadian Fire Safety Association, the Society of Fire Protection Engineers and the Canadian National Committee on the International Electrotechnical Commission. In recognition of his dedication, leadership and valuable contributions to the principles and practices of standardization, in 2005 the Standards Engineering Society awarded him the grade of fellow. Mr. Murphy graduated from Seneca College of Applied Arts and Technology and is a certified engineering technologist. Melanie Nadeau Natural Resources Canada Melanie Nadeau is the technology manager for CanmetENERGY, Natural Resources Canada, Ottawa, Ontario, the marine energy research and development initiative that aims to advance the commercialization of wave, tidal and water current energy technologies. She is the Canadian delegate on the executive committee of the International Energy Agency Implementing Agreement on Ocean Energy Systems. Ms. Nadeau is also the chairman for the International Electrotechnical Commission Technical Committee 114 on Marine Energy, leading the development of international standards for marine energy technologies. She was previously involved with developing North American biodiesel fuel standards in the Canadian General Standards Board and ASTM International. She has been involved in numerous national and international committees and produced several publications related to renewable energies. Ms. Nadeau is an accredited professional engineer and holds a bachelor of applied science degree with a specialization in renewable energy and water resources from the University of Waterloo, Canada. Joshua Saunders Underwriters Laboratories Inc. Joshua Saunders is the global service line manager for UL Environment Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of Underwriters Laboratories Inc. As part of his role, Mr. Saunders is the program owner overseeing all environmental verification and certification services. Prior to his current position, Mr. Saunders held several positions within the conformity assessment and certification industry, including roles in new business development and engineering. He is heavily involved with environmental product standards and sits on the technical committees for ASTM Committee E60 on Sustainability, ASHRAE 189 for Sustainable Buildings, BIFMA E3 for sustainable furniture and several work and study groups for the IEEE 1680 series covering sustainable computers, monitors, televisions and imaging equipment. Mr. Saunders holds a bachelors degree in electrical and computer engineering from the University of Wisconsin Madison and a master of business administration from DePaul University. Jack Sheldon International Electrotechnical Commission Jack Sheldon, standardization strategy manager at the International Electrotechnical Commission, has worked at the IEC since He initially worked in standards development with responsibility for the creation of IEC/TC 100 (multimedia systems and equipment). He was influential in the transformation of the IEC from a paper-based to a paperless organization and was instrumental in setting up TISS, the IEC s helpline to its community. In his current position, Mr. Sheldon serves as the secretariat of the Standardization Management Board, the secretariat of the Market Strategy Board and Strategic Development in the IEC. Prior to joining the

8 IEC he worked as an electronics engineer in a number of information technology and telecommunications companies in the United Kingdom, France and Germany. Mr. Sheldon has an MA in Natural Sciences from Cambridge University and an MBA from the Open University. Trevor N. Smith Quality Integration Solutions Dr. Trevor N. Smith, Quality Integration Solutions, Toronto, Ontario, founded this quality training and consulting business in 2006 following 32 years with Kodak. His experience has spanned ISO9000, Six Sigma, lean and business excellence models and he has participated for over 20 years in international standardization activities in quality and the environment. From 2002 to 2008 Dr. Smith chaired the International Organization for Standardization committee responsible for the ISO9000 family of standards and today remains involved in promoting the role of international standards in businesses. Robert Steele International Organization for Standardization Robert Steele is secretary-general of the International Organization for Standardization in Geneva, Switzerland. He had been the chief executive officer of Standards New Zealand until He is a chartered accountant, a member of the New Zealand Institute of Directors and a fellow of the New Zealand Institute of Management. Mr. Steele joined Standards New Zealand in 1999 and oversaw a program to improve customer service, increase strategic value to government and key stakeholders, increase the profile of the organization in the development of standards both nationally and internationally, and restore the organization to financial health. The use of project management in prioritizing work resulted in a significant improvement in performance. Internationally, Mr. Steele was a member of the ISO Council from 2001 to 2002, represented Standards New Zealand on the ISO Technical Management Board from 2003 to 2005, and was secretary of the Pacific Area Standards Congress from 2002 to April As a member of the ISO TMB he was involved in developing policies on the global relevance of international standards and led an ad hoc group to develop recommendations on ISO s strategy on management system standards. Prior to joining Standards New Zealand, Mr. Steele was chief executive of an electricity distribution and retail company in New Zealand. He oversaw a significant improvement in business performance and customer satisfaction, and established a vibrant and competitive construction and maintenance business. Prior to that, Mr. Steele worked for 15 years at Touche Ross (now Deloitte) in New Zealand and Canada in financial audit and corporate advice. Mr. Steele holds New Zealand and Canadian nationalities. David Sylvester Morrison Hershfield Limited David Sylvester is a senior life safety systems specialist at Morrison Hershfield Limited in Toronto, Ontario. He has over 20 years of engineering experience, within fire protection and life safety systems and with related services, as a designer, building systems manager and consultant. Sylvester is an accredited master electrician/electronic technician with experience in electrical/fire alarm instruction/training. He is first vice

9 president of the Canadian Fire Alarm Association, chair of the CFAA Education Committee and chair of the ULC Data Integrity Working Group. In addition, he also provides instruction for Seneca College s Fire Protection Engineering Program and George Brown College s electrical pre-exam training programs. He has recently been published and has written two electrical trade training text books detailing industrial electrical qualification requirements. Diane C. Thompson Thompson Consulting, Inc. Diane C. Thompson is an internationally recognized expert with over 25 years of experience in standards development, use, distribution, and management. President of Thompson Consulting, Inc. since 2001, Ms. Thompson provides consulting and educational services to national standards bodies, government agencies, standards developing organizations, associations, and private companies worldwide. Ms. Thompson works with both the public and private sectors to promote the consensus approach to the development of standards, enhance the understanding of the strategic importance of standardization to companies and government authorities, and advocate good regulatory practice. She has created and presented a wide variety of standards-related courses throughout the world. In addition, she has developed training materials and instructed participants from more than 50 countries on the information and notification requirements of the World Trade Organization (WTO) Agreement on Technical Barriers to Trade (TBT Agreement) and the Agreement on the Application of Sanitary and Phytosanitary Measures (SPS Agreement). Prior to establishing her company, Ms. Thompson was employed as Senior Director, Standards Business Development at Information Handling Services and as Manager, Information Division at the Standards Council of Canada (SCC). At SCC, she was responsible for the development and operation of the Enquiry Point and Notification Authority under the WTO TBT and SPS agreements and the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) as well as Canada s Standards Information Centre, recognized worldwide as one of the premier models for the management and dissemination of standards and technical trade-related information. Currently, Ms. Thompson is a member of the Standards Engineering Society (SES) Awards, Education, Marketing, Publications, and Standards committees, and serves as Editor of the SES Journal, Standards Engineering. Ms. Thompson was named a Fellow of SES in 1996 and served as President of the Society from 1997 to John Toth Intellectual Property Shield Before founding Intellectual Property Shield, Larkspur, Colo., in 2005, John Toth held various executive positions with companies that deliver content and document management solutions to national enterprises. He spent 10 years with Information Handling Services, a distributor of intellectual property, where he was vice president of aerospace/aviation automotive. At IHS, he developed the corporate sales strategy and worked with Fortune 500 companies who develop, distribute or consume copyrighted content, including Lockheed Martin, Allied Signal, Rockwell, Honeywell, Raytheon, UTC, General Dynamics, Motorola, AT&T, Northrop Grumman and John Deere. Prior to that, Mr. Toth spent 20 years in the hardware, mainframe and information technology sectors, working for Honeywell Information Systems, Digital Equipment and Stratus Group to name a few. He has a computer sciences degree from the Honeywell Institute of Information Sciences in Chicago and holds a CDP from Association of Information Technology Professionals. He is chair of the SES Education Council, and a member of the American National Standards Institute s Intellectual Property Rights Policy Committee, the ANSI Company Member Forum and the ANSI Committee on Education. Glenn Tubrett Canadian Standards Association

10 Glenn Tubrett is director of built environment standards development at the Canadian Standards Association, Mississauga, Ontario. In his current role, he is responsible for the development and delivery of solutions in the energy, construction and infrastructure sectors. Solutions focus on training, guides, standards and other related products that promote safety, performance and the sustainability of technologies and management practices in these sectors. Mr. Tubrett has held a variety of roles over his 15-year career with CSA in the areas of product certification, sales of information products, and standards development. His most recent prior role was as sales manager, responsible for the sales and distribution of CSA s 3000-plus standards, products and services. Glenn holds a bachelor of electrical engineering from Memorial University of Newfoundland. John Tucker Standards Australia In June 2004, John Tucker joined Standards Australia in Sydney as chief executive officer. Mr. Tucker has had a diverse career path traversing public and private sectors, political advising and has held CEO positions in the fields of injury and risk management and industry association management. He has a background in health surveillance, occupational hygiene and industrial relations. Mr. Tucker s qualifications include a bachelor of applied science degree in environmental health. He is an experienced company director and is a member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors, having formerly held statutory appointments in the fields of health, safety and workers compensation. Standards Australia was established in It is a company limited by guarantee, recognized by the Australian Government as the peak non-government standards development and approval body in Australia. Standards Australia represents Australia in the International Organization for Standardization, the International Electrotechnical Commission, and the Pacific Area Standards Congress.
