5 Calculation of energy needs for heating and cooling EN ISO 13790:2008 : Monthly method Using pre-determined correlation factors to correct for the dynamic effects Simple hourly method Lumping all construction elements into a few thermal resistances and some mean thermal capacity NEW (in preparation): revised simple hourly method Detailed simulation tools Not described in EN ISO 13790:2008 New EN ISO :2016 slide 5

6 Why still simplified? Balance in calculation procedures Transparent Robust Reproducible Verifiable Affordable and reliable set of input data Plus: fair and sufficient sensitivity for all relevant energy saving technologies 6

7 Why hourly? More robust, transparent, easier and reliable treatment of dynamic interactions Due to direct use of hourly patterns of e.g. weather and operation Not aiming to increase the overall accuracy of the method But only the accuracy of specific elements And the overall transparency of the method 7
