Phoenix Orchids Plant List Updated: 3/8/18 Phalaenopsis Stem Propagations Phal. An Tai Spot Mary AM/AOS (Paifang s Queen x John Ewing) We received an Award of Quality on this cross and all the awarded cultivars are robust growing plants that will keiki at their bases making great specimen plants. In addition, the flowers have a wonderful sweet fragrance and last a long time. This plant received the highest point score of the cross 84 points - and had seventeen flowers and 10 buds on four inflorescences (two branched) when awarded. A fertile pollen/pod parent and probable. Natural Spread 6.6 cm. Only one blooming size plant. $200 Phal. bellina v. Murtoniana Leprechaun AM/CBR/CCM/AOS (Species) Note that we are not taxonomists and are relying on the taxonomic work previously performed and required to receive an AOS award. This is the rare murtoniana form of the species. This species is now classified as Phal. bellina, but was awarded as Phal. violacea. When this plant received its CCM, it carried 19 flowers and 15 buds on 6 spikes. It s a very floriferous plant! Natural spread 5.5. $300 Phal. Ching Her Champion Phoenix Sunspots HCC/AOS (Salu Peoker x Champion Plus) Awarded 75 points on 5/16/16 with 9 flowers on one spike and is the only awarded cultivar of the cross. Natural spread 7.4cm. Only one blooming size plant. $50 1

Phal. Coral Isles Lung Ching AM/AOS (Princess Kaiulani x lueddemanniana) This is one of only two awarded cultivars and in our opinion is the best. When awarded it had 12 flowers and 8 buds on three spikes with a new spike emerging. Fragrant. Natural Spread 6.0 cm. Only one blooming size plant. $150 Phal. Corningiana Carol HCC/AOS (species) A very good example of the species. When awarded this plant had 18 flowers and 5 buds on 4 spikes. Natural spread (vertical) 6.0. Blooming size. Price reduced was $150, now $100. Phal. Double Garnet Ruby Glow (Zuma Garnet x Straits Garnet) A very flat, solid red flower. The color on the back of the flower is the same as the red on the front. $75 Phal. Guadalupe Pineda Golden Flame (bellina x amboinensis) This plant used to be considered Phal. Princess Kaiulani, but taxonomic revision of violacea to bellina caused the name change. A very nice example of this important cross. The flowers are yellow, overlaid with magenta giving an orange appearance. This plant is a good breeder and has produced several awarded progeny for us plus an AQ. Blooming size and fragrant. $125 2

Phal. Harford's Gem 'Amber Fire' HCC/AOS (amboinensis x Annapolis) The flowers of this plant are very unusual in that the red patterning on each flower is slightly different (as shown in the photo). When awarded it had 9 flowers and 3 buds, so makes a nice display. Natural Spread 5.0 cm. Old spikes will rebloom. Fragrant. $150 Phal. I-Hsin George JH (Penang Girl x George Vasquez) A very colorful flower that we are using in our breeding program. Only one blooming size plant. $75 Phal. I-Hsin Gold Dust Neo AM/AOS (Salu Spot x Salu Peoker) We are using this plant in our breeding. The flowers have a lot of red for the cross. When mature this plant can produce quite a few flowers and makes a wonderful display. Natural spread 7.4 cm. Only one blooming size plant. $50 Phal. Joy Spring Canary Rainbow (Buena Jewel x Yungho Gelb Canary) Most of the cultivars from this cross have flowers that are yellow with white lips making this a very colorful form of this AQ cross. Old spikes will rebloom. Only one large blooming size plant. Fragrant. $100 3

Phal. Kuntrarti Rarashati Bunker Hill (equestris x venosa) A tetraploid form of the cross that is proving to be a useful parten. Fragrant. Blooming size. $50 Phal. Malibu Imp Anna Mae AM/AOS (amboinensis x Luedde-Violacea) This is an old and hard to find cultivar of a cross that has been used to breed some great crosses. We ve used this plant in our breeding program over a period of many years and it has produced awarded progeny for us. The color, even by today s standards, is excellent. Natural spread 5.0 cm. Only one keiki. $150 Phal. Okay Petit Hot Phoenix Beauty (venosa x Dotty Woodson) This is our favorite cultivar from our remake of the cross. The plant grows well and the flowers are very flat and fragrant. $175 Phal. Penang Girl Taipei (violacea x venosa) A really fine form of this primary hybrid. We used this plant to make the cross Phal. Phoenix Canary, which has received an AQ, 3 AMs and one HCC. Old spikes will rebloom. Fragrant. Blooming size. Price reduced was $175, now $150 4

Phal. Phal. Phoenix Cardinal Ruby AM/AOS (An Tai Spot x Brother Purple) Awarded 80 points on 5/16/16 with 10 flowers on two arching spikes. We believe this plant is a tetraploid. Natural spread 6.4 cm. Blooming size. $75 Phal. Phoenix Gem Bold Beauty (Dotty Woodson x Penang Girl) This is one of our favorites from the cross. The flowers have unusual coloration and are fragrant. $175 Phal. Princess Trinity Phoenix Beauty (Venimp x Princess Kaiulani) This is the best that we bloomed from the cross and the flowers practically glow and are fragrant. First release. $200 Phal. Sweet Memory Amy Dawn AM/CCE/AOS (Deventeriana x violacea) This is among our most popular offerings. When awarded this plant carried an amazing 87 flowers and 3 buds on 9 spikes. It tends to produce basal keikis, so can be grown into a tremendous specimen plant. Highly fragrant. Natural spread 7.6 cm. $125 5

Phal. Sweet Memory Amy Dawn AM/CCE/AOS This photo shows what it looked like when it received the CCE. Phal. Phoenix Imp Garnet Gold (Venimp x Penang Girl) This plant tends to produce basal keikis, so can make a great fragrant, specimen plant. Blooming size $75 Phal. Phoenix Imp Trinity AM/AOS (Venimp x Penang Girl) This is our favorite cultivar from our cross and it received an 80 point AM/AOS on 3/5/16 in Tucson, AZ. This plant represents a new type of breeding that I call multifloral novelty. The goal in this type of breeding is to produce brightly colored, fragrant novelties that will carry 20 or more flowers/buds on a fully mature plant. When awarded it carried 7 flowers and 6 buds on two branched spikes plus 10 buds on two immature branched spikes. Natural Spread 5.3cm. $200 6

Phal. Sogo Lawrence F1982 AM/AOS (Brother Peterstar x Brother Sara Gold) This is a wonderful, colorful flower that is the most recently awarded cultivar of the cross. We got it awarded in 2012 with 34 flowers and 1 bud on two branched spikes. We are using it in our breeding program with excellent results. Natural spread 5.6 cm. Blooming size, but limited. Price reduced was $75, now $50 Phal. venosa Frank Smith HCC/AOS (Species) The flowers are notable for excellent substance and flat, overlapping conformation. In addition, we have found this plant to be an exceptional breeder of high quality progeny. Natural spread 4.3 cm. Only one plant. $200 Phal. Yellow Brite Lites Neo HCC/AOS (Taida Lawrence x Carmela s Brite Lites) This is a great yellow with red markings and probable tetraploid. Natural spread 7.2 cm. Blooming size. $50 7

SPECIAL SELECTIONS (SELECT PLANTS) If you re looking for a one-of-a-kind high quality plant, we have a few that we have specially selected. These plants have bloomed and have been selected by us for their high quality in color and form. Most are very colorful and some may have award potential, while others have received awards. Our Condition of Sale does not apply to these plants and you are free to duplicate and sell them if you wish. Discounts do not apply to these plants. Phal. Iowa s King Neo AM/AOS (Walnut Valley Freckles x Brother Pirate King) This plant received an 80 point AM/AOS on 5/3/10 with 15 flowers on one branched spike. We had intended to use this plant to breed tetraploid reds before we changed our focus to breeding novelty diploids. This plant comes with a separately potted blooming size keiki. Natural spread 7.5 cm. $500 Phal. Okay Petit Hot #25 This plant is from our cross of venosa Frank Smith HCC/AOS x Dotty Woodson Orchidland and it is a large plant. We ve noticed when we bloom these that they generally bloom a little more yellow in our extremely hot summers, but in fall they bloom more magenta/red. #25 is not a cultivar name, just a number so we can tell one plant from another. You are free to assign your own cultivar name. $165 Phal. Phoenix Fantasy Shadow HCC/AOS (Brother Dendi x Brother Sara Gold) This plant scored 76 points on 5/16/16 in Oakland, CA. The AOS requested I write an article about it and it was published in the January, 2017 issue of ORCHIDS magazine. The flowers are very long lasting. Natural spread 5.9 cm. Was $450, now $300. 8

Phal. Phoenix Passion Dark Beauty AM/AOS (Hannover Passion x Penang Girl) This plant received an 80 point AM/AOS on 3/4/17 and was featured in an article I wrote about red breeding that appeared in October 2017 Phalaenopsis Supplement to ORCHIDS magazine. The flowers are long-lasting and highly fragrant. This plant includes the mother plant plus the only stem prop I made. Natural spread 5.5 cm. $1250 Phal. Phoenix Sun Yellow Beauty CCM/AOS (I-Hsin Sunflower x Ame Takasaki) This plant was awarded an 84 point CCM/AOS on 4/2/16 with 38 flowers and one bud on 5 spikes and we have no idea why it didn t also receive a quality award. It is a multiple growth plant with the main plant plus 3 basal keikis. Looking at the parentage this should be a tetraploid and if we were interested in breeding award quality, floriferous, tetraploid yellows we would cross it with Phal. Phoenix Sunflower Shadow AM/AOS (below). Natural spread 6.7 cm. $300 Phal. Phoenix Sun Yellow Beauty CCM/AOS This photo shows what the whole plant looked like when it received the CCM. Phal. Phoenix Sunflower Shadow AM/AOS (I-Hsin Sunflower x Hawaii Sun) This plant received a 79 point HCC on 5/16/16 with 9 flowers on one branched spike. The plant now has 2 basal keikis, one of which is blooming size. The other basal keiki should be blooming size next spring (2019). With the plant plus both basal keikis blooming we think it would have potential to be upgraded to AM/AOS plus CCM/AOS. Looking at the parentage this should be a tetraploid and if we were interested in breeding award quality, floriferous, tetraploid yellows we would cross it with Phal. Phoenix Sun Yellow Beauty CCM/AOS (above). Natural spread 6.9cm. $400 9

Phal. Tying Shin Cupid #2 (Sogo Lawrence x Kuntrarti Rarashati) This plant is from our remake of the cross using Kuntrarti Rarshati Bunker Hill (a know tetraploid) to make a tetraploid strain of the cross. This strain is much more red than the original and should be useful for breeding floriferous tetraploid reds (among other things). $150 10
