Competition is open to the world. Entry fee is the purchase of an Exhibitor's Ticket or the payment of fifty cents per entry. Competition is open to the world. Entry fee is the purchase of a Season Pass of $25 or the payment of fifty cents per entry at the Secretary's Office. Entries will be accepted from 8:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M., Monday, July 22, The Knox County Fair Board asks that all vehicles be removed from the midway by 11:00 A.M. Open Judging by the OAGC Standard System will be 1:00 P.M. Monday, July 22, Entries MUST BE REMOVED Wednesday evening, July 24, or before 8 A.M. Thursday morning. Exhibitor's name, address and exhibitor number must appear on entry tag. No reservations are necessary. Entry tags should be picked up at the Fair Board Office. Tags must be made out in advance. All cultivars are to be grown by exhibitor and correctly labeled on entry tags as to variety to be eligible for competition. More than one entry per class is allowed, provided each entry is a different variety. Cultivars should be well groomed and should be disbudded unless being shown as a stem, spray or scape. Foliage should not be removed. Exhibitor is to furnish clear glass containers that are heavy enough to support plant material for all cultivars. Small water tubes will be provided for miniature roses. Paper plates will be provided for vegetables. Green styrofoam will be available for use as blocks for large heavy cultivars. Container grown plants, except for es 78, 82, 83, 114, 115 and 116, should be in the possession of exhibitor for at least ninety days before the Fair to be eligible for competition. Section K (container grown plants) will remain for the duration of the Fair. The Flower Show Committee shall not be responsible for breakage, theft or loss of property. The Committee reserves the right to combine, divide or eliminate classes to insure a uniform show. es may or may not be sub-divided. Exhibits may be entered from 8:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M. Thursday, July 25, The Knox County Fair Board asks that all vehicles be removed from the midway by 11:00 A.M. Thursday. Open oral judging by the OAGC Standard System will be at 1:00 P.M., Thursday, July 25, Entries may not be removed until Sunday, July 28, 2013 from 1:00 P.M. to 2:00 P.M. Premium checks may be obtained from a club officer at that time. Exhibitor's name, address, and exhibitor's number must appear on entry tag. Entry tags should be picked up at the Fair Board Office. Tags must be made out in advance. Each arrangement must be accompanied by a 3 x 5 card listing all plant material used. Interpretation card may be included if desired. Exhibitors may make only one entry per class. No artificial plant material may be used. Painted material is permitted in all classes except 1, 3, 4, 6, 8, 13, 17, 20, 22, 24, 25, 26. No fresh plant material may be painted. Accessories are permitted in any class. Garden grown or roadside plant materials are preferred over florist plant material for artistic designs. Only whole fresh fruits and vegetables are to be used. Limited space will be provided for assembly of arrangements before reaching entry and classification table. Creative designs may be assembled where staged. Caution will be exercised, but the committee is not responsible for breakage, theft or loss of property. Judge's decisions are final and no decisions are to be changed after the close of judging. Painted material allowed. 6 Dogie (a stray or motherless calf) a design featuring a single bloom. No painted material. 7 Chaps a design featuring leather. Painted material allowed. 8 The Great Plains a design featuring grasses. No painted material. 9 Rodeo an interpretive design. Painted material allowed. Explain interpretation on a 3 x 5 card. 10 Teepee a design using sticks. Painted material allowed. 5

6 SECTION B - ARTISTIC DESIGNS OPEN TO AMATEURS - ANY INDIVIDUAL OR GARDEN CLUB MEMBER PROFESSIONAL DESIGNER, STUDENT JUDGE OR JUDGE 11 Buffalo Riders a design using a boot or boots. Painted material allowed. 12 Soddies (sod houses) an interpretive design. Explain interpretation on a 3 x 5 card. Painted material allowed. 13 Chuck Wagon a design incorporating fruits and/or vegetables and/or flowers and/or foliage. No painted material. 14 Bunkhouse a creative horizontal design. Painted material allowed. 15 Saloon a synergistic design incorporating bottles. A synergistic design is a creative grouping of plant materials, containers and/or other components sharing common characteristics designed to create an artistic whole. Each individual unit is unified by color, form, repetition, or through plant material. Three or more containers are required. See OAGC Handbook pp Painted material allowed. 16 Prairie Dogs a creative small design between 5 and 10 overall. To be staged on a platform provided by the show committee. Painted material allowed. 17 The Endless Wind a design showing motion. No painted material. 18 Spurs an angular design. An angular design is a creative geometric grouping of strong intersecting planes taken from the cube and/or pyramid to form angles which stress space and depth. See OAGC Handbook p Painted material allowed. 19 Lasso a stretch design. A stretch design is a creative design, using two similar containers where one is smaller and appears to have been pulled away from the other by tension using a connective line of straight line material. See OAGC Handbook p Painted material allowed. 20 Round Em Up, Head Em Out a traditional mass design. No painted material. 21 Rattlesnakes a vibratile design. A vibratile design is an abstract design characterized by vibration and sound. The sound-making device must be an integral part of the design, not something added for the sole purpose of sound. See OAGC Handbook p Painted material allowed. 22 Horse Corral a design using treasured wood. No painted material. 23 Smoke Signals an interpretive design. Explain interpretation on a 3 x 5 card. Arrangements must be completely assembled before reaching the entry and classification table. Arrangements are to be staged under the direction of the placement committee. Exhibitors should enter their arrangements in person and should be able to identify plant material used. Caution will be exercised, but the committee is not responsible for breakage, theft or loss of property. Judge s decisions are final and no decisions are to be changed after the close of judging.
