6 THE HYBRID STELLAR SERIES Rutgers Introduction We are pleased to offer four dogwood hybrids developed by Dr. Elwin Orton and patented by Rutgers University. They are highly resistant to the common dogwood borer and have shown high field resistance to Discula, anthracnose. The floral period of each hybrid last about the same length of time as the Cornus florida (14-15 days) and all exhibit a period of floral display that is intermediate branched close to the ground than plants of Cornus florida and Cornus kousa. Cornus x Rutgan P.P.#7207 STELLAR PINK Very vigorous grower. The flower heads have rounded, overlapping bracts that are soft pink in color. The are sessile, nearly rounded to obviate with short, acute tip and tapered base. ** Cornus x Rutdan P.P.#7204 CELESTIAL Blooms four to six days after Ruth Ellen. At first the bracts form a deep cut and have a greenish tinge, but they flatten out and become fully white in a few days. The bracts are rounded, well textured, and slightly overlap. Samaritan has handsome variegated creamy-white and green foliage that remains attractive all summer and in the fall it takes on radiant pink and rich burgundy hues. One of the best variegated forms. 23 WITCHHAZEL PROMOTION Hamamelis x intermedia: Arnold s Promise Clear yellow flowers, each petal almost an inch long. Very fragrant, large shrub flowers a little later than other cultivars. Diane One of the best red flowering forms, faintly fragrant, rich yellow-orange-red fall color. Sunburst Has lemon-yellow scentless flowers that are produced in abundance during January and February. A 25% deposit is required to hold your specially selected and tagged trees. To dig out of season orders (May-September), add 25% extra to cover special handling such as wilt proofing or watering. 29 GRADING All plants will be graded by the American Standard for Nursery Stock published by the American Nursery and Landscape Association. Orders are individually selected and dug. Minimum sizes are listed in every instance as prescribed by ANLA standards. GUARANTEE AND LIMITATIONS ON LIABILITY Plants travel at purchaser s risk and expense. All sales are made with the understanding that we shall not be liable for shortage in event of crop loss or damage from causes over which we have no control. We promise to ship true to name healthy stock bearing a state nursery certificate. We cannot guarantee plants to grow because we have no control over the plants after they leave us. If any plants reach you that are not in good viable condition we expect to be notified within the 10-day claim period. All nursery stock is sold subject to the standard non-warranty clause. We give no warranty, expressed or implied, as to the description, productiveness, or any other matter, of any nursery stock we sell. We shall in no case be liable for any sum greater than the amount originally received for any stock.
