1 SECTION CUBICLES PART 1 - GENERAL 1.1 RELATED DOCUMENTS A. Drawings and general provisions of the Contract, including General and Supplementary Conditions and Division 01 Specification Sections, apply to this Section. 1.2 SUMMARY A. This Section includes the following: 1. Overhead cubicle track, accessories and attachments. 2. Cubicle curtains and accessories. 3. Shower curtains and accessories. 1.3 PERFORMANCE REQUIREMENTS A. Provide curtains that conform to the following requirements of regulatory agencies and Authorities Having Jurisdiction. 1. Fire Performance Characteristics: Provide curtains that are fire retardant or fire resistant. 2. Fabrics are flame resistant and are identical to those that have passed NFPA 701 when tested by a testing and inspecting agency acceptable to authorities having jurisdiction. a. Identify fabrics with appropriate markings of applicable testing and inspecting agency. 1.4 SUBMITTALS A. Submit under provisions of Section B. Product Data: Manufacturer's printed product data for each type of cubicle tracking system specified. C. Detail Drawings: Mounting details with the appropriate fasteners for specific project substrates. D. Schedule: Provide a Schedule of Curtains indicating; 1. Room Name/Number. 2. Ceiling height. 3. Height above Finished Floor of top of curtain fabric. 4. Height above Finished Floor of bottom of curtain fabric. E. Samples: Verification samples of cubicle track, 4 inches long, in full size, with carriers and end cap. F. Fabric Samples: Swatch cards of fabric samples illustrating fabric color and weave. Manufacturer's Installation Instruction: Printed installation instructions for each cubicle tracking system. 1.5 DELIVERY, STORAGE AND HANDLING A. Deliver materials in unopened factory packaging to the jobsite. B. Inspect materials at delivery to assure that specified products have been received. C. Store in original packaging in a climate controlled location away from direct sunlight. 1.6 PROJECT CONDITIONS A. Environmental Requirements: Products must be installed in an interior climate controlled environment. 1.7 WARRANTY A. Standard Limited Lifetime Warranty against material and manufacturing defects. 3 2.3 TRACK COMPONENTS AND ACCESSORIES A. Track Attachment: Provide appropriate attachment accessories as required for ceiling system. B. Track Splice: To fit track section, with finish matching that of the track. C. Bent Track: 90 degree bend with 1 foot radius to mate with straight track sections. D. End Caps: Provide end cap with curtain hook at one end and carrier removal type end cap at opposite end. Coordinate track length to allow carrier removal. E. Curtain Carriers: Carriers to be fitted to curtain to prevent accidental curtain removal. Provide 2.2 carriers per lineal foot of track length, plus one extra carrier. 1. Provide End Cap with curtain hook at stacking wall. 2.4 CURTAIN MATERIALS A. Privacy Curtain 1. Fabric: Provide 100% polyester curtains. Fabric shall be opaque, washable, flame retardant and closely woven. a. Provide an allowance of ThirtyFive Dollars ($35.00) per square yard for curtain fabric. Manufacturer, color, pattern and style to be selected. b. Reference Finish Legend for selection of pattern and color. 2. Open Mesh Cloth: Provide curtain heading of open weave nylon mesh material with nominal 1/4 to 1/2 inch holes to permit air circulation. Mesh shall be flame retardant, washable and dry-cleanable. B. Shower Curtain 1. Vinyl Material: Provide heavy duty, 8 gauge, flame retardant, antimicrobial vinyl that is water repellent, wear resistant, scrubbable and colorfast. 2. Open Mesh Cloth: Provide curtain heading of open weave nylon mesh material with nominal 1/4 to 1/2 inch holes to permit air and steam circulation. Mesh is to be flame retardant, washable and dry-cleanable. 2.5 CURTAIN FABRICATION A. Curtain Width: Manufacture curtains of one piece, sized to 10 percent wider than the track length but no less than 1 foot extra fullness. B. Curtain Height: Life Skills Classrooms CUBICLES

4 September 23, Provide minimum 18 inch high open mesh panel at top of privacy curtains. 2. Bottom of privacy curtains hang 8 inches above floor. Fabricate top of privacy curtain fabric at 72 inches above floor. Provide open mesh from top of curtain fabric to carrier above. C. Curtain Heading: Manufacture with open mesh cloth, to the same width as the curtain fabric. Include 4-ounce nickel-plated grommets, 6 inches on center for carriers. 1. Shower curtain top hem to be triple-turned hem over nylon tape for rugged wear. D. Seams 1. Privacy Curtain: Bottom hem shall be double-fold and 1 1/4 inch wide. Curtains shall be seamless if possible or lock stitch seams in two rows. Turn seam edges and lock stitch. Sewing thread to be triple-ply twisted nylon. 2. Shower Curtain: Curtains are to be seamless when possible with sanitary "no scum" side and bottom edges. Sewing thread to be triple ply twisted nylon. PART 3 - EXECUTION 3.1 EXAMINATION A. Examine areas and conditions in which the cubicle tracking systems will be installed. 1. Complete all finishing operations, including painting, before beginning installation of cubicle tracking system materials. 2. Verify that surfaces and above ceiling supports are ready to receive work. 3.2 PREPARATION A. General: Prior to installation, clean substrate to remove dust, debris and loose particles. 3.3 INSTALLATION A. General: Locate the cubicle track as indicated on the approved detail drawing for the appropriate substrate and in compliance with manufacturer's installation instructions. B. Install cubicle track, secure and rigid, and true to ceiling line. C. Slide carriers onto the track. D. Install end cap or stop device. E. Secure or suspend track to ceiling system. 5 F. Install curtains on carriers ensuring smooth operation. 3.4 CLEANING A. At completion of the installation, remove any debris and clean surfaces in accordance with the manufacturer's cleaning and maintenance instructions. END OF SECTION Life Skills Classrooms CUBICLES
