7 Smithsonian Institution You can South add Mall text Campus hear Master for Plan the header from the slide master Historic Resources in the South Mall Campus As of June 2015, the Quadrangle Complex is only major resource not listed in the National Register of Historic Places The Quadrangle Complex (completed 1987) The complex includes the below-grade S. Dillon Ripley Center, the Arthur M. Sackler Gallery, the National Museum of African Art, and the three related entry pavilions above grade. The Haupt Garden is considered the setting for the Quadrangle and its related pavilions. It is anticipated that the expanded and amended National Mall Historic District will be accepted by the National Register of Historic Places by the end of this year. As such, the Consulting Parties should view all the properties within the site as contributing for purposes of evaluating impacts from the proposed Alternative Master Plans. June 9,

Restore and Rehabilitate Buildings and Landscapes - with emphasis on historic preservation, replacing end of life utilities, across campus accessibility east to west, enhanced strengthening of materials for seismic and blast, increased educational spaces, more variety of gallery and exhibit spaces, expanded delivery and support spaces. The Great Hall will be the primary information center with amenities located on the lower level. This will also allow for direct access to the Quadrangle museums Sackler Gallery and the National Museum of African Art. Current Castle Great Hall Visitor Center will be improved and remain after restoration June 9,

It is currently being improved to support special events and limited public uses in the Spring of The building will serve as a temporary Visitors Center when the Castle is undergoing restoration. Dismissed concept When the Castle is restored and reinforced to accommodate seismic retrofit, the treatment used will minimize removal of historic materials and maximize retention of historic character. Historic images of the Castle basement. Currently, these spaces are impacted by extensive piping and utility runs in the ceilings and numerous mechanical and electrical rooms. June 9,
