5 SCHEME UPDATE GENERAL: RJM remain on programme to complete the Main works Contract by Christmas 2016 St. Mary s Loch Intelligent Water Management System is operational Flood Protection from Ettrick Water now operational Flood Protection from Long Philip Burn now operational The major works are now concentrated at Dunsdale Haugh Works to the Bridge Street Footbridge are ongoing Snagging Works and Landscaping Works will be ongoing until the end of the contract / year 5

20 SCHEME UPDATE COMMUNITY BENEFITS: The Scheme has been designed to try to deliver maximum benefit to the town of Selkirk and the communities that live there especially Bannerfield The Scheme itself has three tiers of benefit flood protection; environmental enhancements; community The Main Works Contract (RJM) has delivered community benefit through employment and a whole suite of community engagement The Scheme is now delivering to Bannerfield through the Bannerfield Initiative Finally the Scheme will deliver CB s through the Community Art Project 20

21 COMMUNITY BENEFITS BANNERFIELD INITIATIVE: RJM committed a sum of money to Community Benefits for the Bannerfield Area The Scheme set up a working group to identify how to achieve maximum community benefit with the available money The community was engaged with through meetings, community groups, local officers and a questionnaire distributed to all properties in Bannerfield This exercise yielded many desired improvements for Bannerfield that the project has striven through 2016 to deliver either within the Main Works Contract or through this separate budget 21

24 SCHEME UPDATE COMMUNTY ARTS PROJECT: Three arts projects will be advanced between now and March 2016 to allow artists to engage with the local communities and deliver some art to the environment Location = Bannerfield side of Footbridge Theme = Selkirk s Industrial Heritage 24

25 SCHEME UPDATE COMMUNTY ARTS PROJECT: It is intended that a different artist will advance each brief, however an artist may advance one or more briefs The artists will be selected through a formal procurement exercise this summer / autumn The artist will be expected to engage heavily with the local community and its schools / organisations The proposed art will be presented through a public exhibition / consultation exercise The art installations will be put in place in early
