ROUND LAKE NEWSLETTER May 2017 From the former Mayor: I would like to thank everyone who came to celebrate my retirement after 30 years with the Village of Round Lake. A special thanks to Kim Sheridan-Dugmore, Robyn Shaffer and the DPW for planning and preparing this event. A special thanks to Congressman Tonko, State Assemblyman Jim Tedisco, Assemblywoman Carrie Woerner, Town of Malta Supervisor Vince DeLucia, Saratoga Springs Supervisor Peter Martin and Round Lake Mayor Tom Bergin for their kind words, proclamations and New York State Resolutions. Thanks also to WRLIS for their presentation and gift. Thank you to the Round Lake Fire Department and Hose Co. for their large contribution to my party. Thanks to The Mill for their contribution and to all who provided food. Everything was delicious and the cakes were very special ~ courtesy of Leah s. Thanks to all who helped prepare and clean up. I have a special place in my heart for Round Lake and over the years have met many interesting and special people. Many remain friends. A very special thanks to all the Village residents, County, Town and local officials who attended. It was a great day and a day I will remember forever. Sincerely, Dixie p.s. If I forgot anyone, please excuse ~ it was certainly not intentional ~ just my age!
From the Veterans Committee The Veterans Committee is looking for new members to expand our committee. If you have a few hours you can spare please consider becoming a member of the committee. Veterans Status is preferred but not required. We host 2 events each year and are always looking to make our events better and highlight the service and sacrifice made by our veterans and their service to our country. If you are interested contact Victor Isca at If you are a veteran and do not have a copy of your DD Form 214, shame on you. This document is the key to many veterans benefits not just through the VA; but, also through New York State. To obtain a copy, contact the folks at the Saratoga County Veterans Service Agency. Their number is Or you can request a copy online by going to: You can place your order either electronically via evetrecs, or by downloading a standard form SF-180 and faxing or mailing it in. Fax number and address can be found on the website. Victor Isca, Round Lake Veterans Committee,
Memorial Day Observance The Round Lake Memorial Day Observance will be held at 12:00 (noon) on: Monday, May 29th at the Round Lake Veterans Memorial. The keynote address will be presented by: New York State Senator Jim Tedisco. A complimentary picnic lunch will be provided on the library lawn immediately following the program. In the event of inclement weather the ceremony will be moved to the auditorium. Please plan on attending as we honor those service members who made the ultimate sacrifice in defense of our freedom.
Storm Water Pollution According to federal regulations, many cities and industries must reduce water pollution from storm sewers. We can help by taking steps around the home to increase the amount of water that soaks into the ground. This reduces the amount of water flowing into the street. Here's what you can do: Plant trees, shrubs or ground cover. Maintain a healthy lawn. Redirect down spouts from paved areas to vegetated areas. Install gravel trenches along driveways or patios. Use porous materials such as wooden planks or bricks for walkways and patios. If building a new home, have the driveway and walkways graded so water flows onto lawn areas. Use a rain barrel to catch and store water for gardens. Wash your car on the lawn, not the driveway, or take your car to a commercial car wash.
We are updating our records! Please fill out and drop off at the Village office or slip under the door Name PO Box Phone number(s) address Thank you!
