1 PROMENADE AT CASTLE ROCK VISION BOOK PREPARED FOR: ALBERTA DEVELOPMENT PARTNERS 18 DECEMBER 2013
2 DESIGN BRIEF RUSTIC INTIMATE CASUAL Assemble a vibrant palette of retail concepts including grocer, service, specialty and boutique shops to attract crowds of visitors at all hours of the day. Design a beautiful landscape with flowers, grasses & shade trees, that is native to its locale and that invites visitors looking to lounge, dine, and stroll. Create a distinctive architecture that is forward thinking but evocative of the local heritage and that appeals to both the local female shopper as well as shoppers from afar. Propose signature amenities that are memorable and that enhance the brand of the project and the development of the shopping district as a destination in Colorado. PROMENADE AT CASTLE ROCK 18 DECEMBER
3 prairie + mountain village = PROMENADE AT CASTLE ROCK THE STORY Influenced by a rich local history of mining, the Promenade at Castle Rock is a contemporary interpretation of prairie and mountain village vernacular. Using a natural palette of local materials: woods, metals and natural stones, assembled in unique ways, the project will be both familiar and new. Like the leather sleeves on an updated Burberry trench coat, traditional silhouettes will be made new with unique unexpected material treatments: rough stones next to smooth and barnwood facades clad vertically. There will be signature details like gable ends enclosed in lattice patterned trellises or a zinc standing seam roof capping a rustic stone façade. It ll be a little edgy. As in old mining towns, the front porch becomes the most energized space and is a signature move on most buildings. Lanterns and geode inspired markers will help move visitors throughout the center. Landscape elements will include soft prairie grasses with accents of lavender and rows of red bud trees, all flanking the main vehicular promenade, giving it the feel of travelling a mountain meadow road. Custom, mountain inspired play areas will attract families. Like small towns, the center will resonate a strong sense of community by providing gathering areas like the grand plaza with year round attractions like the great hearth and lounge. All of these unique features will attract visitors from near and far and make Promenade at Castle Rock a one of a kind shopping destination in Colorado. PROMENADE AT CASTLE ROCK 18 DECEMBER
