2 DIMENSIONBASED PRICING SCALE WHAT IS THE DIMENSIONBASED PRICING SCALE? The dimensionbased pricing scale determines a correlation between the dimension of an item of furniture and its estimated weight bracket. Its use is recommended when the weight of the item of furniture put on the market is not known in advance, particularly in custom manufacturing. The craftsperson, trader or manufacturer can therefore determine the Écomobilier code and the ecofee related to this item of furniture. WHICH ITEMS OF FURNITURE ARE CONCERNED? The dimensionbased pricing scale concerns all furniture except seats and beds/bedding: It is organised into four types of furniture: Storage furniture; Tables and worktops; Bedding furniture; Kitchen and bathroom units. WHO IS THIS PRICING SCALE INTENDED FOR AND WHEN IS IT USED? Some traders in the bespoke manufacturing sector are unable to determine the weight of a furnishing item before its production and installation. Since the ecofee pricing scale is organised by weight bracket, it is essential to know the weight of the product in order to assign an ecofee to it, at the time of the quote or order. Therefore, when the weight is not known, the dimensionbased pricing scale can be used. When making the market authorisation declaration, it is also necessary to assign an Écomobilier code, which depends on the weight and material used, to enable payment of the ecofee to Écomobilier. This dimensionbased pricing scale is also used to obtain the product code. HOW DO I DETERMINE THE ÉCOMOBILIER CODE AND FIND THE AMOUNT OF THE ECO FEE WITH THE DIMENSIONBASED PRICING SCALE? You can use the code generator available at ecomobilier.fr. First select the furniture category, then Weight bracket not known under question 2. You must then enter the main dimension, as predefined in the generator (length, width or depth) in centimetres. 3 CALCULATION EXAMPLE Explanation of the calculation method for storage furniture: chests are included in the category of low storage units. The assumptions used for calculation are: H Height 90 cm (applied to all low storage units); Depth 40 cm (standard); W One shelf every 35 cm; L Presence of doors; Presence of a base, of which the thickness is equal to half the thickness of the other parts of the furniture, or 9 mm; Thickness of panels of which the furniture is composed, 18 mm (standard thickness); Density of material: 700 kg/m 3 (average density calculated according to products on the market, rounded off). The variable is the length of the item of furniture. As this storage chest is broadly rectangular in form, the following formula can be used: thickness/10*density/1,000,000*(2*(height*depth) + (2+no. shelves)*(width*depth)+(base+door)*(width*height)) i.e. for a chest with a length of 160 cm: CHEST LOW STORAGE UNIT UNITS HEIGHT 90 cm LENGTH 160 cm DEPTH 40 cm THICKNESS 18 mm DENSITY 700 kg/m3 NUMBER OF SHELVES 3 no.
