A small wooded triangle opposite the entrance to Tatton Park, it visually softens the end of King Street - the main street in the town centre. Historically, it was opened for public use by Lord Egerton. It is a peaceful area and contains seats typically used by office workers on lunch breaks. It provides a charming short-cut for pedestrians walking to Tatton Park and the Town Centre. It forms an extension to the wildlife habitat of Tatton Park. It should be protected in its entirety because of its immense value to the local community and the local wildlife. It is a beautiful space full of trees and wild flowers, enriching the hard landscape of the town surrounding it. It is a place for exercise or relaxation in a peaceful space. It is part nature reserve and Local Wildlife Site due to it being a rare lowland heath. It has a rich history including use in medieval times by freeholders, for billeting troops during the Civil War and WW2, for mineral extraction and grazing, as a racecourse for two centuries and for holding 'Royal' May Day celebrations. The land was purchased by Knutsford Urban District Council in 1907 from Lord Egerton for the purpose of recreational use. It provides a pedestrian route across the town and a space for informal recreational activities and organised events. It contains an extensive set of children's play equipment and a scout hut. It provides a location for enjoying vistas of the town's architecture and the natural beauty of the Moor Pool with its reedbeds and waterfowl. An attractive space with seats and shrubs and flowers. It is popular and well-maintained. It provides a softening to the side of the busy A50, filtering out noise and pollution. 15 LGS ID LGS-14 Site ID S-023 Site Name Booths Garden Local Green Space Criteri t Extensive? Part of the site of the old Knutsford Prison, it now lies at the back of Booth Supermarket. It has shrubs, hedging and seating, and is popular with supermarket staff and visitors, and those living in nearby houses with very small gardens. Has good potential because KTC and CEC wish to improve it to make it a better garden. Furthermore, it provides the ideal vantage point for viewing the Victorian red-bricked listed building that was the Bucklow Rural District Council offices, located diagonally opposite, over the crossroads. It is planted with mature trees and flower beds, and has benches where people sit in peaceful relaxation. It also contains an old church font as an architectural feature. In 2018, to mark 100 years since the Armistice, the Haron Baronian statue will be moved here to make a new Town Centre War Memorial. The house is now home to Knutsford Town Council and the gardens provide an attractive setting for the building. The side adjacent to Stanley Road is secluded by a hedge and trees and has a tranquil feel, in contrast to the busy main road at the front. Being adjacent to site S-025, it provides an extension to the green corridor from the railway. It provides a pedestrian route through the cu-de-sac based estate and is an ideal natural play area for children. The pedestrian/cycle paths through the wood provide residents the opportunity for exercise and enjoyment of nature. It punctures the housing, and linked with the railway corridor and Tatton Park, it brings nature into the area. It augments the railway wildlife corridor. It is a peaceful area, full of trees and overlooking the edge of Tatton Park. It has been a children's play area in the past and could be reinstated as such in the future. Neighbourhood Green natural & semi natural green Cheshire East Council Over Woodland Valley WA16 8JY A site of historical significance, containing the old parochial church. The church building has disappeared but a set of 17th century gravestones remain. Within the ancient monument there is an tranquil, reflective atmosphere. Apart from the immediate area of the ancient monument, the site is open grass providing space used for informal recreation, particularly children's play.. The site forms the middle section of a green corridor from Booths Mere to St John's Wood. Its integrity is essential for maintaining the biodiversity of St John's Wood. Contains PRoW. The Ancient Monument only gives protection to the central area. Page 30 of 42

It is a pleasant green community space, containing trees, in front of the Manor Drive shops. The local community value the site and would like to see it enhanced. It is a link in the green corridor from Booths Mere and the open countryside, through the site of St. Helena's and into St. John's Wood. It should be maintained as an open green space to ensure the continued biodiversity of St John's Wood. It is used for general recreation, containing a football pitch with goalposts until recently. It was designated as a playing field in the MBC Local Plan Historically it was part of the Booths Estate and had a path through to St Helena's Church for worship. There was an unprecedented public outcry in July 2017 against a CEC proposed to sell the site to a developer. With the land falling away to the west, it affords a beautiful vista across the Moor to the town centre. It provides a place to sit and enjoy the view as well as space for children to play. It was designated as open space for children & teenagers and playing field in the CEC 2012 Open Spaces audit. It contains football goals suitable for young children. Its trees contribute to the wooded mosaic of the area, provide a green corridor out of near-by Sanctuary Moor.
