Adaptive Timing Software does exactly that. By learning the occupancy patterns of the space and continuously tuning the time out setting, Bryant AT Sensors always provide maximum energy savings. PASSIV INFRARD TCHNOLOGY BRYANT passive infrared sensing (PIR) is today s technology of choice for lighting control because of its reliability and cost efficiency. A PIR sensor continually monitors an area and is activated when human movement and body heat enters the field of view. ULTRASONIC TCHNOLOGY BRYANT Ultrasonic Sensors use transducers to provide volumetric sensing coverage of an area. Ultrasonic technology acts like sonar to fill a room with an inaudible, diffused and harmless wave pattern. When a person enters the room in the sensor s area of coverage, the emitted sound wave is interrupted and the transducer s receiver captures the interruption. With ultrasonic technology, there are no blind spots in a room, unlike PIR products. This makes Ultrasonic Sensors ideal for applications where there are visual obstructions such as bathroom stalls, shelving, laboratory equipment and partitions. DUAL TCHNOLOGY BRYANT Dual Technology Sensors combine an ultrasonic transducer with a dual element pyro-electric detector to provide both volumetric and geometric sensing of an area. By utilizing both active and passive technologies, Dual Technology Sensors provide optimum coverage, eliminating blind spots in nearly every environment including bathrooms, classrooms, stockrooms, laboratories, open and closed office areas, kitchens, atriums, and banquet halls. The two technologies further support each other with user-programmable selection capability, to eliminate false ONs or OFFs caused by erroneous environmental signals. Adaptive Timing Bryant AT sensors self calibrate the time out delay based on occupancy patterns. This is a continual process that provides the maximum payback throughout the sensor s life. Adaptive Timing is available in PIR wall switch, Ultrasonic and Dual Technology ceiling mount sensors. Available in many coverage patterns, these sensors meet virtually any indoor application. Wall Switch Sensors PRIVAT OFFICS Most private offices have an existing toggle switch. The Wall Switch Sensor was specifically designed to replace the toggle switch. Installation is fast and simple, typically completed in less than 10 minutes. BATHROOMS Always an excellent application because the lights in a public bathroom are usually left on 18 to 24 hours per day. Ultrasonic Sensors and Wall Switch Sensors are ideally suited to control lighting in most bathroom applications. MS1200AT WALL SWITCH SNSOR Wide-View Sensors CLASSROOMS The Wide View Sensor was designed specifically for this application. Mounting the sensor near the ceiling, in the corner of the room, provides an effective coverage of 40' (12.192m 2 ) by 40' (12.192m 2 ). Most classrooms are less than this size. Typically, each classroom has one circuit, therefore, only one control module is required. If there are multiple circuits, auxiliary relays can be added. Other rooms in which Wide View Sensors work well are: storerooms, large conference rooms, stairwells and rooms over 1200 square feet (111.0 m 2 ). Hallway Sensors The Hallway Sensor is designed for long narrow areas such as corridors and aisleways. Hallway Sensors will detect horizontal movement up to 90 feet (27.4 m). Multiple sensors may be used to also cover T or L shaped areas. Ceiling Mount Sensors OPN OFFIC ARAS/MULTI-TASK SPACS Today, most office buildings have partitioned cubicles for greater space utilization. As a result, open office areas are becoming increasingly popular for task defined applications. Ceiling Mount Sensors are designed primarily for such large, open areas. Coverage ranges from 800 sq. ft. (74.3m 2 ) to 2000 sq. ft. (185.8m 2 ) and, depending upon the activities taking place within a given area, one sensing technology may fit a need better than another. Passive Infrared is a line-of-sight technology that is ideal for use in open areas. Ultrasonic Sensors cover an area volumetrically and are best suited for reaching in and around office cubicles and bathroom stalls. Finally, Dual Technology Sensors incorporate both passive infrared and ultrasonic technologies, which is perfect for areas requiring extreme sensitivity, flexibility and adaptability, such as classrooms or areas with complex environmental conditions. Sensor Layout for Various Applications How to position sensors The floor plan below incorporates the main sensor applications that you will find in a typical office building. ach application will require its own unique layout, but in general these are the products most often used. The conference room, one private office and one bathroom show wall switch sensors. The secretary station and the large private office show a ceiling mount PIR. The lunch room shows a wide view sensor. The open office with partitioned walls shows four 1000 sq. ft. (92.7m 2 ) ceiling mount Ultrasonic Sensors as does one bathroom. The corridor shows a hallway sensor.
