3 Total Calls for Month of July 119 Special Details performed by fire personnel: : Randy King of Public Works picked up the new storm ready sign and placed it at the county line on West McIntosh Road : Kim Townsend of Department of Public Health placed additional equipment in the Point of Distribution trailer that we house. We also gave her a set of keys to the trailer : Met with FEMA and Chief West signed all documents for the Cat A and B project worksheets for the reimbursement for the 2014 ice storm federal declaration : Completed and submitted the annual EMPG - PPA entity report to Ed Westbrook : Shift B Engine 2 and Engine 6 went on driver s training for 30 minutes : Shift B Engine 5 had driver s training on new engine : Captain Bankston and Captain Jester went every station to give refresher course for basic everyday firefighter tactics and equipment : The 4 th of July Parade Detail from 10 a.m. 11:00 a.m. Fire Department Personnel, Fire Department Honor Guard, Engine 1, Squad 7, Battalion 1, Chief Polk s Car, and New Engine 209 participated. County Commissioner Rita Johnson rode on Squad 7 and County Commissioner Raymond Pay road on New Engine : Shift B Engine 5, Engine 2, and Engine 6 went on drivers training for 30 minutes : Chief Polk met with his assigned allocation committee for recommendations for the United Way : Harris Communications and Lt. Huggins installed radio in new Engine : Four new recruits started Rookie School : Shift B Engine 2 and Engine 6 went on driver s training for 30 minutes : Personnel trained over Quick Fill System (PPE) for 30 minutes : Engine 2 and Engine 6 staff to Health Department for TB Test : Chief Polk met with Cody Tollison to discuss information about the fire service. 4 : Chief Polk attended the Make Griffin - Spalding Better committee meeting at UGA : The new E-One (209) fire engine was placed in service at station 3 (Cabin) : The Mass Casualty Trailer that we acquired through a FEMA grant -was picked up today from having the canopy replaced and funded by the Department of Public Health : Fastenal Rep. Freud demoed new Diablo reciprocating blade for use during extraction involving vehicle entrapments : Personnel attended defensive driver training class at Annex Room 108 from 08:30 hrs. to 15:30 hrs : Chief Polk attended the monthly Area 4 EMA meeting in Thomaston : Shift B Engine 2, Engine 6, & Engine 7 went on driver s training for 30 minutes each : Shift B Engine 6 and Squad 7 went out on driver s training for 30 minutes : Shift C assisted with Fire Safety House at Farm Bureau Safety Camp at UGA : Fire Fighter Harold Williams and Chief Clark completed Fire Inspections for the Spalding County Sheriff's Office/Jail upon a request from them : Fire Fighter Harold Williams and Chief Clark completed Fire Inspections on the following Schools 11 in total: Beaver Brook Elementary, Carver Rd. Middle, Carver Rd. Middle, Cowan Rd. Middle, Cowan Rd. Elementary, Futral Rd. Elementary, Jackson Rd. Elementary, Jordon Hill Elementary, Kennedy Rd. Middle, Moreland Rd. Elementary, Rehoboth Rd. Middle, and Spalding High. All Schools did well with the Exception of Spalding High. In which we were not able to test the Fire Alarm due to students being present the day we inspected and will be heading back next week and it will be completed : Elections held at stations from 07:00 hrs. - 19:00 hrs : Chief West and Chief Polk attended the quarterly West Georgia EMS council meeting in Coweta County : Spalding County Fire Volunteers Adams and Peavy reported for training : Spalding Fire and Office of Homeland Security assisted with a disaster drill at Brightmoor Nursing Home, along with Spalding Sheriff Department, Spalding 911 and Spalding Regional Hospital. 5 : Chief Polk attended the Make Griffin Spalding Better Together conference committee meeting : Chief Polk took 25 fire safety posters for distribution to the Senior Center. These posters have medication tracking charts and fire safety pointers : Chief Jones and Captain Henderson attended GSAR this date : Probationary firefighters were released to drive on calls today and were instructed to do so each shift until further notice : Chief Jones instructed current rookies on a live fire training burn today : Shift B Engine 6 went to Devotie Baptist Church for a back to school bash from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m : Shift B Engines 1, 7, Squad 7, Fire Safety House, and Battalion 1 went to Truett s for a back to school bash : Shift B Engine 2 went to the city park for a Fire Safety Detail : Lt. Miller instructed driver s training class with recruits : Battalion Chief Slaughter went to Air Life to meet about personnel radio : Chief West attended Volunteer Resources Training at GPSTC : Lt. Miller assisted with recruits practicing on driving course with apparatuses : Chief Clark and Battalion 1 went to Cowan Road Middle School to check newly installed wall fire alarm pull boxes : Fire Volunteers Peavy and Vickers rode along with Engine 1.
