Safety and Maintenace Location has ample buffer from roadways and would easilty accommodate maintenace equipment and personnel on a regular basis Site appears to offer a reasonable buffer from immediate residential dwellings (need to confirm exact distance). However, residents have expressed concern over proximity of existing sports fields. Site appears to offer good visibility from Community Centre parking lot and Midpark Rise turn around/drop off circle. Surrounding park offers a variety of rec opportunities and overall area is regularly used Site appears suitable for construction. Location appears to offer ample room for a Skate Spot and potentially a Neighbourhood Park (need to confirm accurate size of anticipated developable space) Shelter Community Center offers excellent shelter Commiunity Center offers all key amenities Existing parking at Community Center may be available for Skatepark / Retail is within a ~5 min walk from site Concession Phase 1 Development Suitability Appropriate context, all key amenities within adjacent community centre, achievable skatepark area, some parking availability, good overall pedestrian and public transit access. Question about community centre building and parking expansion.

7 HUNTINGTON HILLS HUNTINGTON HILLS On major bus line. Connections to Trails Site sits adjacent to sidewalk on 64 AVE and asphalt walking path that cuts through the overall park parcel. Extended community appears to have a suitable network of sidewalks and trails Access to Public Transportation A couple of Bus Stops surround site (need to confirm exact distance from nearest stop) Park Compatibility Site currently consists of non programmed park space that is surrounded by a collection of play fields and tennis courts associated with 2 adjacent schools (St.Helena and Chinese Academy), and the Thornhill Aquatic & Rec Centre/Capot Arena. Addition of skatepark would appear to fit well with surrounding rec amenities while still allowing for passive space to be maintained directly East of site Safety and Maintenace Development of site would require attention to creation a safe off set from 64 AVE NE. This would require obtaining the Parks remnant land + Recreation land to the North and East (See Map) 64 AVE (a fairly significant roadway) and the associated development off set from this roadway would appear to offer a suitable buffer from Single Family residential dwellings found to South of site. (need to obtain exact distance) Site appears to offer excellent visibility from 64 AVE Excellent overall site context in close proximity to complimentary recreation opportunities at surrounding schools and aquatic/rec center. Site does not appear to pose any major impediments to anticipated skatepark construction program (need to verify underground utilities/row's) Location appears to be suitable for large neighbourhood level skatepark (need to confirm potential size of development area) Shelter Mature trees provides some shade and wind protection. Site is within excellent proximity to Thornhill Aquatic/Rec Centre. Key amenities may be found in adjacent Library and Thornhill Aquatic/Rec Centre Existing parking may be found at Library and Thornhill Aquatic/Rec Center. No immediate street side parking (maybe existing parking capacity issues at Library/Thornhill need to explore) Retail appears to be relatively close at SE corner of 64 AVE and Centre Street NE Phase 1 Development Suitability Overall: Appears to be an excellent location for not only a Skate Spot but Neighbourhood Park. Great support from Huntington Hills Community Assoc. and North Haven Community Assoc. Risks: May be some opposition from adjacent residential, parking availability?

8 SOUTHWOOD SOUTHWOOD Connections to Trails Sidewalks run adjacent to site and through surrounding neighbourhoods Access to Public Transportation Bus stops are within a couple minutes on Elbow Dr Park Compatibility Site (refer to map) appears to be non programmed park space adjacent to Ethel M Johnson School. Greater site area includes playgrounds, an outdoor rink, Community Association building, Softball fields and Harold Panabaker Jr High School. A Neighbourhood Scale park would appear to be compatible. Safety and Maintenace Location has an excellent off set from roadways and appears to pose no impediments to maintenance. Site appears to offer a reasonable buffer from residential dwellings (need to confirm exact distance) Site appears to offer good visibility from Sackville Dr. Site is surrounded by 2 schools, Southwood Community Association building, an outdoor rink, and sports fields Site does not appear to pose any impediments to construction (need to verify underground utilities/row's) Location appears to hold ample room for a Neighbourhood Scale Skatepark (need to confirm accurate size of anticipated developable space) Mature trees may provide some shelter from wind and sun. Nearby schools and Community Association Building may provide more significant shelter from the Shelter elements. Schools and Community Association building may provide access to key amenities Parking may be available on streetside, at schools, at Community Association building Retail is within walking distance (~5 10mins) Phase 1 Development Suitability Dense residential area. 9 CKE - HENRY WISEWOOD HIGH SCHOOL CKE Connections to Trails Sidewalks run adjacent to site and through surrounding neighbourhoods Access to Public Transportation Bus stops surround site Park Compatibility Site currently consists of non programmed park space adjacent to a Community Association Building, Community Garden, and outdoor rink. A modest sized Skate Spot would appear to be compatible with existing use of the area. Safety and Maintenace Site lies very close to Elbow Drive (busy roadway), although, opportunity for fair separation from nearby roadways is possible (may require some level of fencing or strategic landscape buffer. Site should provide easy access for maintenance. Site is within close proximity to single family residential directly across 73 Ave. Site appears to offer excellent visibility from 73 Ave and Elbow Dr Greater site area includes playfields, a high school, an elementary school, and tennis courts Site does not appear to pose any major impediments to anticipated skatepark construction program. (need to verify underground utilities/row's) Location appears to be suitable for a Skate Spot. Area may be limited in terms of spectator space (need to confirm accurate size of anticipated developable space) Shelter Mature trees nearby. Key amenities may be found at Bowness Road and 77 Street (5 10 walk North West). Telephone may be accessible at school during emergency. Existing school parking lies within close proximity to site.
