3 IMPORTNT SFETY INSTRUCTIONS SVE THESE INSTRUCTIONS When using an electrical appliance, basic precautions should always be followed, including the following: RED LL INSTRUCTIONS BEFORE USING THIS PPLINCE. Do not leave appliance when plugged in. Unplug from outlet when not in use and before cleaning or servicing. Do not use outdoors or on wet surfaces. Do not allow to be used as a toy. Not intended for use by children age 12 and under. Close supervision is necessary when used near children. To avoid injury or damage, keep children away from product, and do not allow children to place fingers or other objects into any openings. Use only as described in this manual. Use only manufacturer s recommended attachments and products. Do not use with damaged cord or plug. If appliance is not working as it should, has been dropped, damaged, left outdoors, or dropped into water, take it to a service center prior to continuing use. Do not pull or carry by cord, use cord as a handle, close a door on cord, or pull cord around sharp edges or corners. Do not place product on cord. Do not run appliance over cord. Keep cord away from heated surfaces. Do not unplug by pulling on cord. To unplug, grasp the plug, not the cord. Do not handle plug or appliance with wet hands. Do not put any object into openings. Do not use with any opening blocked; keep free of dust, lint, hair, and anything that may reduce air flow. Keep hair, loose clothing, fingers, and all parts of body away from openings and moving parts. Turn off all controls before unplugging. Use extra care when cleaning on stairs. To avoid personal injury or damage, and to prevent the cleaner from falling, always place cleaner at bottom of stairs on floor. Do not place cleaner on stairs or furniture, as it may result in injury or damage. Do not use to pick up flammable or combustible liquids, such as gasoline, or fine wood sandings, or use in areas where they may be present. Do not pick up anything that is burning or smoking, such as cigarettes, matches, or hot ashes. Do not use without Dirt Cup and/or Filters in place. 3

4 CUTION: TO REDUCE THE RISK OF DMGE: void picking up hard, sharp objects with this product, as they may cause damage. Store appropriately indoors in a dry place. Do not expose machine to freezing temperatures. Do not use sharp objects to clean out hose as they can cause damage. With brushroll on, do not allow cleaner to sit in one location for an extended period of time, as damage to floor can result.! NOTICE! Thermal Protector has been designed into your cleaner to protect it from overheating. When the thermal protector activates the cleaner will stop running. If this happens proceed as follows: 1. Turn cleaner OFF and unplug it from the electrical outlet. 2. Empty dirt cup. 3. Inspect the nozzle inlet, hose connector, hose, dirt cup inlet, cyclonic filter, rinsable filter, and HEP filter for any obstructions. Clear obstructions if present. When cleaner is unplugged and motor has cooled for 30 minutes, the thermal protector will deactivate and cleaning may continue. If the thermal protector continues to activate after following the above steps, your cleaner needs servicing. 4

To turn vacuum ON (l = ON), push ON/OFF switch () once. To turn vacuum OFF (0 = OFF), push switch again. To turn brushroll ON, push ON/OFF switch (B) once. To turn brushroll OFF, push switch again. CRRY HNDLE 2.3 C 2.3 The cleaner can be moved by using the carry handle (C). Cord STORGE 2.4 Wrap cord around cord hooks for convenient storage. ttach the plug end to the cord. 2.5 Twist upper cord hook (D) to allow cord to be released. D

7 Handle positions maneuverable Lower handle and The handle of your cleaner has two positions: upright for storage and when using cleaning tools; operating position for general operation on carpet and floors; hold nozzle with foot (E) and pull handle back. E twist to maneuver under and around furniture. 3. TOOLS Tools allow for cleaning surfaces above the floor and for reaching hard to clean areas. The vacuum is ready for tool use when handle is in upright position. Select Proper Tool 2-in-1 Combination Tool 3.1 B 3.1. Crevice Tool may be used in tight spaces, corners and along edges in such places as dresser drawers, upholstered furniture, stairs and baseboards. B. Dusting Brush may be used for furniture, table tops, books, lamps, lighting fixtures, venetian blinds, baseboards, shutters, and registers. Removing Hose To remove hose for tool use, press the hose release button and pull hose end out. To lock back into place, push hose into hose tube until you hear a click. CUTION!! Cleaner must be in the upright position. 3.3 Press handle wand release button and pull handle up to remove. 3.4 Press the hose release button on the nozzle and remove the hose from the nozzle. 3.5 ttach the hose to the handle/extension wand. For extended cleaning reach, you may attach the hose to the stair hose*. Choose the 2-in-1 combination tool or use the extension wand alone. 3.6 Simply push the attachment firmly on the end of the extension wand or hose. To remove tool, twist and pull apart gently.! *vailable on select models only Stair Cleaning 3.7 The hose and tools can be used for stair cleaning. 3.7 CUTION!! Use extra care when cleaning on stairs. To avoid personal injury or damage, and to prevent the cleaner from falling, always place cleaner at bottom of stairs or on floor. Do not place cleaner on stairs or furniture, as it may result in injury or damage. When using tools, always ensure handle is in upright position. 8

9 Dirt Cup: When to Empty 4.1 Empty the dirt cup before the dirt cup reaches the max line (). Place the vacuum in the upright position before removing the dirt cup. 4. MINTENNCE Familiarize yourself with these home maintenance tasks as proper use and care of your vacuum will ensure continued cleaning effectiveness. ny other servicing should be done by an authorized service representative. Very fine materials, such as face powder or cornstarch, may seal the filter and may cause it to burst even though it is partially full of dirt. When the cleaner is used to remove material of this nature, change filter often Dirt Cup: How to Empty 4.2 Press dirt cup release button and pivot cup out. 4.3 Hold dirt cup over trash receptacle, push dirt cup door release lever () to open dirt cup door (B). Close dirt cup door (B). Press firmly to secure. 4.4 Place bottom of dirt cup into vacuum body first. Pivot dirt cup into vacuum. Press down on the dirt cup release button to secure into place. B Filters: When to Clean To maintain optimal performance, filters should be cleaned every two months under normal use. WRNING!! To reduce the risk of personal injury - Unplug before cleaning or servicing. Do not use vacuum without dirt cup or filters in place. Rinsable Filter: How to Clean Remove dirt cup as described in Fig Twist the dirt cup lid to open. 4.6 Pull tab to remove rinsable filter. Rinse with water for two minutes or until water runs clear. Then squeeze out excess water. llow 24 hours for filter to dry completely. Replace filter, tab side out. Close lid securely by twisting dirt cup lid until it clicks as shown in Fig Replace dirt cup as described in Fig Rinsable Filter: What to Buy When used and maintained properly, your Rinsable Filter should not need replacement within the warranty period. If desired, additional filter is available. Please contact our authorized distributor. Contact information on page 28. IMPORTNT llow filter to dry completely before replacing. Dry filter on edge so air circulates on both sides of filter. This may take up to 24 hours.

10 Filter Made With HEP Media: How to Clean! WRNING! To reduce the risk of personal injury - Unplug before cleaning or servicing. Do not use vacuum without dirt cup or filters in place Remove dirt cup. 4.8 Unlock filter cover by twisting filter counterclockwise to remove. 4.9 Remove the filter from the filter housing and hold over a trash receptacle. Tap out dirt and debris. Replace filter Replace filter cover by twisting clock-wise till it snaps in place Orientation of filter cover must be as shown. Replace dirt cup on vacuum. IMPORTNT DO NOT RINSE OR WSH THE FILTER CRTRIDGE Filter Made With HEP Media: What to Buy When used and maintained properly, your Filter should not need replacement within the warranty period. 11 HOSE: How to Clean 4.12! CUTION! To reduce the risk of injury from moving parts-keep fingers away from opening - Unplug before servicing To remove hose for tool use, press the hose release button () and pull hose end out. Clear away debris or obstructions from hose. Do not use sharp objects to clean out hose as they can cause damage. To lock back into place, push hose into hose tube until you hear a click. Cyclonic Filter ssembly: How to Clean ! WRNING! To reduce the risk of personal injury - Unplug before cleaning or servicing. Do not use vacuum without dirt cup or filters in place. Remove dirt cup as described in Fig Lift the filter assembly () up out of the dirt cup Dirt and debris can be cleaned from the filter assembly with the dusting/ upholstery tool Place the filter assembly () on the dirt cup, aligning the D-shaped tab on the top of the dirt cup. Press down firmly to place the filter assembly back in place. Replace dirt cup as described in Fig BrushrOll: how to Clean! CUTION! To reduce the risk of injury from moving parts, unplug vacuum before servicing Turn vacuum over so bottom side is facing up. Remove and debris and/or hair from brushroll. For additional maintenance required for belt or brushroll please contact our authorized distributor. Contact information on page Vacuum cleaner is equipped with an automatic brushroll shut off in the event of overload or jam. When jammed, the indicator () will flash a red light To reset brushroll, press red button () in the middle of floorhead. green flashing light indicates no blockages in the brushbar. If light continues to flash red after resetting, the brushbar may still be blocked. Using a pair of scissors, cut through any threads or hairs caught around the brushbar

12 Belt CUTION!! To reduce the risk of injury from moving parts - Unplug before servicing. The belt is located under the bottom plate of the vacuum and should be checked from time to time to be sure it is in good condition. When To Replace Replace belt if it is damaged, cut or broken. To check the damaged belt, refer to Fig How To Replace Place handle in the low position and turn the cleaner over so the bottom side is up Remove 1 screw as shown with a Phillips screwdriver Push down on 2 clips to release bottom plate and lift off Remove agitator brushroll and used belt. Discard used belt With the lettering on the outside of the belt and positioned as shown, place the belt on to the motor shaft With the belt securely attached to the motor shaft slide the brush through the belt as shown With the belt attached to the agitator, grasp the agitator firmly and fit it into position by first sliding end opposite of the belt into the rectangular slot on side of cleaner. Pull other side of agitator into place and turn agitator making sure the belt is not pinched between agitator and agitator shield Reattach the bottom plate by hooking the front of the plate to the cleaner and rotating the plate to the locking clips. Once locking clips are engaged, replace 1 screw Belt: What to Buy Use only genuine HOOVER belts with your vacuum. When purchasing a new belt, please contact our authorized distributor. Contact information on page 28. LUBRICTION: The motor and brushroll are equipped with bearings which contain sufficient lubrication for their lifetime. The addition of lubricant could cause damage. Do not add lubricant to motor or brushroll. 12

17 小心 : 為降低損壞的風險 : 請避免使用本產品吸起堅硬 尖銳的物體, 以免損壞 適當放置在室內乾燥處 請勿將本產品曝露在低溫冷凍下 請勿使用尖銳的物體清理軟管, 以免損壞 裝上滾刷時, 請勿讓本產品長時間停留在一個位置上, 以免損壞地板 注意!! 本產品有防熱裝置設計, 可避免產品過熱 防熱裝置啟動時, 吸塵器會停止運作 如果發生此狀況, 請依照下列敘述進行 : 1. 關閉吸塵器, 將插頭拔出 2. 清空集塵桶 3. 檢查管口 軟管接頭 軟管 集塵桶口 旋風式濾網 可洗式濾網, 以及 HEP 濾網是否有任何阻塞物 清除阻塞物 拔掉吸塵器插頭並讓馬達冷卻 30 分鐘後, 防熱裝置會停用, 便可繼續使用 如果在依照上述步驟之後, 防熱裝置仍繼續啟用, 吸塵器必須送往維修中心修理 17

20 操作狀態 2.6 吸塵器操作有兩個狀態 : 收納及使用清理工具時, 請直立 ; 在地毯和地板上進行一般作業時, 請就操作位置 用腳固定管口 (E), 將握把往後拉 簡易操作 將把手向下移並轉 2.7 E 動, 可在傢俱下方及四周操作 工具可用於清理地板表面與縫隙 當吸塵器直立起來時, 可使用吸塵器工具 3. 工具 選取適當的工具 2 合 1 組合工具 3.1 B 3.1. 縫隙吸頭用於狹窄空間 角落與窄長邊緣, 如梳妝台抽屜 軟面傢俱 樓梯及地腳線 B. 除塵刷可用於傢俱 檯面 書本 燈具 照明設備 百葉窗 地腳線 窗板及通風調節器 取下軟管 若要取下軟管以使用工具, 請按下軟管鎖定鈕, 將軟管端往外拉 若要鎖回定位, 請將軟管塞回軟管筒中, 直到聽到喀一聲為止 小心!! 為了減少移動組件造成傷害的風險, 手指接觸開口時請小心 請先拔下插頭再進行保養 20
