12 Optional Features Many options are available in order to upgrade the construction or to incorporate items specific to an application. Examples of these are:. CABINET. Customized height: The standard 86" (TV & TF models) can be shortened for applications where there is a height restriction imposed by an architectural feature.. TF series units have an available top cabinet extension to trim the unit to a ceiling and a pipe cover to encapsulate the riser package.. A raised base with access door: To allow the mounting of (for example) a condensate pump.. A plain raised base for a lower-floor unit to allow the condensate to be routed sideways to a floor drain.. Secondary return air opening: " x " grille with filter media located at baseboard level..6 Outdoor air intake opening: 6" x " opening with either a manual sliding balancing damper, motorized shut off damper A filter is included.. Alternative cabinet liners: /8" closed cell for model TV and ½ closed cell for model TF & TC..8 Tandemized units with a one hour full scale vertical fire tested enclosure between the units. The tandemized units are assembled at the factory for installation as a pair prior to partition walls being built.. COIL AND PIPING PACKAGE. Optional drain pan: upgrading to a stainless steel pan. A removable drain pan is also available.. Sea coast protective coating using thermoset acrylic on the coil fins.. Manual or automatic circuit balancing valve (strainer optional) on coil return.. 19 Installation Guidelines ARCHITECTURAL DETAILS Attention should be paid to the height of drywall which encapsulates ductwork in a bulkhead. Note the height of the side supply air opening shown in the submittals and ensure that the drywall does not interfere with the side wall grille. Make allowance for the " flange around the grille. Call Temspec at the time of submittal review if side supply air openings need to be lowered or rotated to a vertical position to avoid interference with walls or doors. Temspec does not include wall sleeves which might be needed to bridge a gap between the grille collar on the unit and the drywall surface, howsoever caused. Also floor sleeves, extension sleeves through shear walls and extension of thermostat speed switch wiring are not included. HANDLING The fan coil units must be handled with the due care required for an HVAC unit. Avoid dropping or jarring the unit during offloading and moving the unit into position. Do not lift the unit using the riser pipes. INSTALLATION Unless otherwise requested by the customer at the time of shop drawing approval, the cabinet insulation is left intact, covering the supply air openings and, if applicable, the secondary return air opening. The reasons for this are: To provide a measure of protection from wind driven rain or snow entering the unit before the windows are installed. To prevent construction dust entering the unit. The installer is responsible for cutting out the insulation and buttering the cut edge prior to installing the grilles. Shim the unit plumb. It is not necessary to use a pad under the unit Use solder to connect the risers. Do not use Silfos (brazing) as this will cause the pipe to overheat and the insulation to be damaged. Ensure that the horizontal run-out from each riser is centered in the slot in the cabinet and that the run-out from the riser is at 90º as it enters the cabinet, prior to soldering/connecting the risers. Anchoring the risers to the floor slabs is the responsibility of the contractor. Fire stopping the floor opening and making good the riser insulation at the floor opening is the responsibility of the contractor. Check that the drain hose is not kinked before soldering the condensate riser. If the risers incorporate expansion compensation loops, remove the support brackets after anchoring the risers. The expansion loops to be in a neutral position when the cooling/heating medium is flowing. The fan coil unit has unions at the shut off valves. These fittings must be properly tightened prior to pressure testing the system by the contractor as part of the installation procedure. It is the responsibility of the contractor/installer to adhere to union/valve manufacturers installation instructions. Mechanical fittings can loosen during transportation and handling. The coil is pressure tested hydrostatically at the factory using a diluted propylene glycol solution. Trace amounts of this solution are allowed to remain in the coil to ensure that the coil does not freeze during transportation. The interior of the unit must be vacuumed clean before the unit is started up. This includes fan motor windings and the drain pan. TWO-WAY CONTROL VALVES When two way valves are used, pump and chiller bypass or pump speed control must be included in the system. This is necessary to ensure that the close-off pressure rating of the valve is not exceeded. The maximum close-off pressure rating is given in the submittals. ELECTRICAL CONNECTION It is assumed that the fan coil unit will be in a dedicated electrical circuit. If the unit is to be in a circuit which includes electrical outlets or other electrical devices, Temspec must be informed prior to releasing the units for production as a power fuse might have to be incorporated. All wiring must enter the unit through designated openings and not through the riser stub-out opening. ACCESSORIES Do not install grilles or thermostats until after the walls have been painted. Caution the painter against spraying over the labels on the front cover of the unit.

Push the coil branch loops into the union coupling on the stub and properly tighten* the union provided (check that the o-ring of the union is not missing). Attach the flexible drain hose to the condensate stub. Shim the unit so that it is vertical.

39 FAN COIL THERMOSTATS RESIDENTIAL THERMOSTAT Honeywell TB00A000 Series HOTEL THERMOSTAT HotelTech LT Series GENERAL NOTES PERTAINING TO FAN COIL THERMOSTATS Other thermostat types are available for specific applications. Please call the factory for options. The Honeywell TB00A000 and HotelTech LT series thermostat cycle a two position control valve. If modulating or floating point valve actuators are a requirement a thermostat with analog heat / cool outputs must be used. Chilled water valve modulation (0-0Vdc) is not recommended in humid climates. The Temspec TF series fan coil with exposed finished cabinet should be specified with a remote thermostat or with a return air sensor. The thermostat has a return air sensor option. When a unit mounted thermostat is used, there is a risk of heat pick up from the fan coil cabinet by the thermostat sensor which is within the thermostat casing. Unit mounted thermostats can be specified with a quick connect plug.
