2 selectable water and air coil freeze protection sensing. All safety controls may be reset at the thermostat. Each unit is tested and run at the factory to assure proper operation of all components and safety switches. All components are carefully designed and selected for endurance, durability, and carefree day-to-day operation. The water-to-refrigerant heat exchanger has copper inner and steel outer tubing which is painted on the outside to provide corrosion resistence protection. upronickel heat exchangers are available and should be used on all open loop applications. Units are AI (Air onditioning & efrigeration Institute) Standard 0-9 certified and UL (Underwriters Laboratories) and SA (anadian Standards Association) listed. Installation ease The unit is packaged for simple, low cost handling, with minimal time required for installation. The console unit arrives at the jobsite fully assembled to minimize installation time and reduce installation cost. All units are pre-wired and factory charged with refrigerant. Water connections are available in a variety of configurations direct from the factory. The standard configuration is /8 in. OD Sweat connections for maximum flexibilty in the field. Both FPT and MPT are available from the factory to improve installation efficiency. Additionally, motorized water shutoff valves are available from the factory for use on energy conserving systems employing a variable pumping technique. The standard electrical connections are made quickly and directly to a power distribution terminal block. A fused or unfused disconnect switch, as well as a 0 or 0 amp plug and cord are available direct from the factory to further improve installation efficiency. A /8 in. ID vinyl condensate connection is provided for connection to the field-installed condensate line. ompact cabinet design of 0 in. deep, 48 in. wide and 4 in. tall (with -in. subbase), as well as being available with the controls mounted on the top right or left side provide for a great deal of installation flexibilty. Additionally, the sloped top design discourages the use of the unit as a shelf or coffee holder, preventing air blockage and any spillage damage to the unit. No-fuss maintenance and serviceability When regular maintenance or a service call is scheduled, the console WSHP units require little time. Large service access panels enable quick inspection for problem solving. The control box swings down for easy access to the controls. Fan motor sleeve bearings are permanently lubricaated for worry-free performance; however in the event that service is required access is made simple with the easily removable cabinet and slide out fan section. efrigerant circuit protection is designed to result in fewer service calls. Units are equipped with easily accessible service access ports on both the suction and the discharge refrigerant lines for on-site testing and environmentally correct refrigerant recovery. Filter racks provide easy filter access for cleaning. Unit controls The standard control (XM) offers a unit-mounted manual changeover thermostat to control the unit s compressor, reversing valve, fan speed selection and microprocessor-based controller. ontrols are conveniently located in one dedicated box for maximum safety and ease of serviceability. The heating or cooling modes are manually selected. The fan runs continuously to provide maximum comfort and air distribution. Table of contents 0KQ units are available with a basic stand-alone XM controller or the optional full featured and system focused DXM controller. The XM controller monitors the status of the high pressure cutout switch, loss of charge switch, air and water coil freeze sensors, over and under voltage conditions and takes appropriate actions for safe and reliable operation of the unit. The controllers offer service diagnostic features to aid service personnel. The status light displays the last fault code. Momentary shorting of the test terminals puts the controller in a 0-minute test mode in which all time delays are sped up times. andom start and anti-short cycling features are standard. Freeze protection of the water/refrigerant heat exchanger is configured for water at the factory. It can be readily changed in the field for anti-freeze solutions. Air coil freeze protection is standard. The XM or DXM controls are available with manual changeover, automatic changeover, or remote mount thermostat. 3 Options (factory-installed) DXM controller The DXM controller, in addition to all the features of the XM, features emergency shutdown and night setback with override options. Three LED (light-emitting diode) lights (Status, Test mode and Fault) display the operating status and fault codes to help diagnose the problem. Night low limit (standard with DXM controller only) This function is available with the DXM controller only. If the unit operation is turned OFF from either the push button switches, remote thermostat or the energy management system, it is possible that the space temperature could drop uncontrollably. The Night Low Limit feature, with DXM controller, helps maintain the space temperature at a level that is the best compromise between energy consumption and a safe space temperature. A thermostat located near the return air filter activates the blower and compressor operation when the space temperature falls below 0 F. When return air temperature is raised above F the compressor and blower stop. Override function (standard with DXM controller only) An Override function is available for units operating in occupied/unoccupied mode under the control of an external timeclock or an energy management system. A contact closure from the timeclock or energy management system shorts the NSB and terminal on the DXM controller signaling an unoccupied mode. For units with the unit-mounted thermostat, pressing override switch (located under control access door) will override the unoccupied mode and allow the occupied mode of operation to continue for a period of two hours. The units with the remote wall-mounted thermostat require a digital thermostat with the override function. In unoccupied mode an accessory relay is energized on the DXM controller. The NO/N contacts of the relay can be used as appropriate input to the digital thermostat to signal occupied/unoccupied mode. The thermostat selects cooling/heating set points based on occupied/unoccupied mode. Thermostat options Options A,B, and D include a unit mounted Manual hangeover (MO) or Auto hangeover (AO) thermostat. The temperature set point knob and push button switches for fan speed and cool/heat mode (MO) selection are conveniently located on the top. The thermostat senses the return air temperature. The thermostat sends the appropriate signal to the controller for cooling or heating mode of operation. Options and S allow connection to a remote wallmounted thermostat. The XM controller requires a heat pump thermostat. The DXM controller can be configured for heat pump or heat/cool thermostat. abinet options A locking control panel for added security. A bottom or front return with left or right hand configurations for ease of installation. Available with or in. subbase, with or without motorized damper. Motorized fresh air damper With the unit-mounted thermostat the motorized fresh air damper opens when LOW or HIGH fan speed selections are made from the push button switches. When STOP or FAN ONLY selections are made the spring return on the damper motor closes the damper. With remote thermostat the motorized fresh air damper opens when the fan is running. Motorized water valve A factory-installed motorized water valve is energized to open when there is cooling or heating demand. This option is desirable when the installation employs a variable speed pump for cost savings. 0KQA,KQD ONTOL OPTIONS TABLE OPTION ONTOLLE THEMOSTAT FUNTIONS TANSFOME A XM MO 0 VA B DXM MO NIGHT LOW LIMIT -H OVEIDE 7 VA XM AO 0 VA D DXM AO NIGHT LOW LIMIT -H OVEIDE 7 VA XM EMOTE 0 VA S DXM EMOTE NIGHT LOW LIMIT -H OVEIDE 7 VA AO Auto hangeover MO Manual hangeover Accessories (field-installed) Hose kits (Stainless steel or galvanized) Ball valve (with and without P/T [Pressure/Temperature] ports) Y strainers (with plugs and blow down valves) Solenoid valves Hose kit assemblies with GPM Autoflow valves Thermostats Loop controllers in.
