Dieter Stehmeier (TWB), the technical director of ZIV Dipl.-Ing. Michael Erlhof (VT), the technical consultant (TB) of ZIV chimney sweep master Dipl.-Ing. Jörg Seelbach, the former Member of the Technical Committee (MdTA) of the ZIV chimney sweep master Uwe Gerath and the Member of the Technical Committee (MdTA) of the ZIV chimney sweep master Markus Schlichter. 1. CEN/SFGas_U (Sector Forum Gas Utilisation) SFGas_U is an amalgamation of all CEN/TCs of the sector gas utilisation including TCs that deal with gasfired heating appliances ESCHFOE is member at CEN/SFGas_U as well as of several working groups (WG) represented by TB Seelbach and TWB Stehmeier (WG 4). Working groups: CEN/SFGas_U/WG 1 Heating appliance classification. CEN/SFGas_U/WG 2 Environmental aspects. CEN/SFGas_U/WG 3 Heating appliance labeling. CEN/SFGas_U/WG 4 Chimneys/CPR. Note: Gas Appliance Directive (GAD: 2009/142/EG) has been replaced at by Gas Appliance Regulation (GAR: EU 2016/426) which (essentially) becomes effective at CEN/TR 1472 General guidance for the labeling of gas appliances : Nothing new. CEN/TR 1749 European guideline for the classification of gas fired heating appliances depending of the type of flue gas exhaust (formally CR 1749). Status: Actual 6 th version (5 th revision) published 2014: Content related: 5 new gas appliance types C (10) to C (15) for chimneys serving more than one heating appliance Enables both system certification according to Gas Appliance Regulation as well as gas appliances with chimneys according Construction Building Regulation. Future: Regulations through a CEN/Sector Forum is no longer permitted Regulation shall be dealt in CEN/TC 238 Test gases, test pressures and categories of appliances and the TR converted in an EN standard. CEN/TR Safety of domestic gas installations Recommendations : Status: New draft from December Content related: Essential contents supposed to be basic guidelines / recommendations to describe a high level of quality and safety in setup / installation, commissioning and maintenance of gas appliances and pipework. Future: Regulations through a CEN/Sector Forum is no longer permitted Proceedings shall be dealt with in future over CEN/TC 234 "Gas infrastructure". CEN/TC 166 Chimneys ESCHFOE is associated member at CEN/TC 166 since 1991 represented by Vice president Verderber (WG 1, WG 2), TWB Stehmeier (TC, SC 2, WG 1, WG 2), TB Seelbach (WG 3, WG 4, WG 5 informative) see annex EN 1443 Chimneys General requirements : Content related: Standard new structured according to the CEN model standard for product standards harmonized to EU-Construction Product Regulation (EU-CPR). Expansion of the chimney designation with one letter ("a" to "l"), which stands for the kind of construction of the adjacent combustible walls and ceilings, that means their insulation und kind of penetration Coverage of the main usual installation situations in Europe Proposal of TWB Stehmeier on a corresponding table in form suitable for users (Instead of "insulation thickness = xxx mm" U value 0,yy W/m². Calculation formula for combustion air mass flow: Previously the ratio of the combustion air mass flow to the flue gas mass flow is constantly assumed with ß = 0,9. Really the combustion air mass flow is depending on the excess air and for condensing boilers if necessary on the amount of condensate. According to German Specialist rules for stove and air heating construction (TR OL) the combustion air mass flow is sometimes greater than the flue gas mass flow ß > 1 what cannot be. TWB Stehmeier has created a formula with the dependencies In Amendment A1 shall a corresponding addition be provided. EN Chimneys Thermal and fluid dynamic calculation methods Part 2: Chimneys with more than one heating appliance : Mistake: In the English and German version in clause 5.1 under "The validation of the mass flow requirement and pressure requirement shall be done at following working conditions, using the external and ambient air temperatures specified in EN " the first sentence after the indent must be represented also as an indent.
