1 About The Plumbing Regulations 2008 Qualifications and experience requirements for Licensing or Registration under Part 12A of the Building Act In accordance with regulation 42 of Part 12 of the Plumbing Regulations 2008 (the Regulations), the following is an updated list of approved competency units to be contained in a Certificate II course or higher relating to a class of plumbing work or specialised plumbing work listed for the qualifications in Schedule 3 of the Regulations outlined below: Schedule 3, Part 1 - Qualifications and experience required in respect of classes of plumbing 1. Qualifications and experience required for registration under section 221O to carry out a class of plumbing work: a) Successful completion of a Certificate III course relating to plumbing work (except in the case of drainage work or irrigation (non-agricultural) work where a Certificate II course is sufficient) that includes the approved competency units for that class of plumbing work; and b) Successful completion of the Commission's examination of competencies for that class of plumbing Registration Drainage Acetylene CPCPSN3015A Install pre-treatment facilities. CPCPDR2011A Locate and clear blockages. CPCPDR2012A Install domestic treatment plants. CPCPDR2013A Maintain effluent disinfection CPCPDR2014A Install stormwater and sub-soil drainage CPCPDR2015A Drain work site. CPCPDR2016A Install pre-fabricated inspection openings and enclosures. Qualifications and experience required for license under section 221M to carry out a class of plumbing work: a) Successful completion of the Commission's examination of licence competencies for that class of plumbing Note: Section 221M(1)(a) of the Act requires a person to be eligible for registration with respect to a class of plumbing work in order to be licensed to carry out that class of plumbing License Gas fitting CPCPGS4011A Design and size consumer gas installations. 6 TRANSITIONAL ARRANGEMENTS The list of competency units required to be contained in a Certificate II course or a higher course relating to a class of plumbing work will take effect on the date of this gazette notice. Plumbing apprentices currently enrolled in the approved gazetted competencies units as specified in the Victoria Government Gazette (G August 2009) immediately before the date of this gazette notice will be eligible to be registered or licensed as a plumbing practitioner upon successful completion of the relevant course and meeting any other specified requirements of section 221O of the Building Act 1993 and Schedule 3 of the Plumbing Regulations Page 6 of 6
